Rajasthan’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) reportedly caught two alleged intermediaries in Rajsamand over the first installment of a purported Rs 60 lakh bribe linked to GST show-cause notices said to total Rs 3.12 crore. The Times of India reported that one intermediary was caught accepting Rs 25 lakh, while the named CGST Udaipur superintendent was detained for questioning. The account describes allegations and an ongoing inquiry—not a proven bribe or a completed tax settlement.
What happened in the Rs 60 lakh GST bribe case?
In a report published September 29, 2026, The Times of India said Rajasthan ACB set a trap in Rajsamand and caught Sushil Pareek and Anil Pareek, whom the report described as alleged intermediaries. ACB officials, as reported by the newspaper, said the two were involved in a purported Rs 60 lakh payment intended to influence the handling of GST show-cause notices. The Times of India report.
The newspaper said Anil directed Sushil to collect the money. Sushil was reportedly caught accepting Rs 25 lakh, described as the first installment of the alleged total. That reported installment is distinct from the purported Rs 60 lakh overall payment.
What were the GST notices for?
The Times of India described the notices as involving Rs 3.12 crore across multiple firms. ACB officials reportedly said the complainant had been offered a favourable settlement that would reduce tax exposure in exchange for the alleged payment. The report does not establish that the notices were settled, reduced, or paid, and it does not identify the firms or provide the notices themselves.

The Rs 3.12 crore figure refers to the reported aggregate value of the notices; it should not be read as a proven tax liability or as the amount of a completed settlement. The reported bribe figures—Rs 60 lakh allegedly in total and Rs 25 lakh allegedly accepted as the first installment—are claims attributed to ACB officials through the newspaper, not figures independently verified against case documents.
Was the CGST officer arrested?
The Times of India reported that CGST Udaipur Superintendent Sanwalram was detained in Suket, Kota, and was being brought to Rajsamand for interrogation. The report uses “detained”; it does not establish that he was arrested, charged, prosecuted, or found guilty. The allegations against him remain allegations.
