It names watchlist notes—your investment thesis and a “kill-trigger”—as part of the workflow. Treat those notes as potentially sensitive, and do not assume that “local” means every dependency, network request, cache, or backup stays on your device.
What BolsaBuddy says it does
In a developer-authored project post, Ssolidssnake9 describes BolsaBuddy as a “$0, fully-local tracker for the Mexican stock market.” The stated workflow fetches Yahoo Finance data for the IPC (^MXX), calculates market indicators, and creates a daily brief with a local model or a templated fallback if the model is unavailable. The post also describes a watchlist that places a user’s thesis and “kill-trigger” beside a live price.
The developer says the model path needs no keys or accounts and writes that it “keeps your financial thinking private.” These are the developer’s claims and design rationale, not independent verification that the application makes no outbound requests or that every piece of data remains on the device.
What data is confirmed to be stored?
The project description identifies thesis and kill-trigger notes as watchlist features, but it does not establish whether, where, or for how long those notes are persisted. It also does not provide an inventory of database fields, files, caches, logs, or retention and deletion behavior. Market data, computed indicators, and generated briefs are part of the described workflow, but the available description is not enough to confirm their exact local storage or retention.
#1 Best Overall
So the careful answer is limited: the developer presents BolsaBuddy as local-first and describes personal watchlist notes as part of its functionality; an exact list of locally stored data has not been established. The project description alone also cannot verify whether dependencies, backups, or other processes transmit or copy data.
How to protect your BolsaBuddy data
The following are general device-safety measures, not documented BolsaBuddy settings or tested app-specific instructions.

- Ideal for Gifting
- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
- Review the current project code and dependencies. Look for data files, databases, caches, logs, and outbound network requests. The developer’s post shows a command-line workflow involving
fetch.py,analyze.py,brief.py,news.py, andreport.py, but that is not a complete data inventory. Verify the version you actually install. - Secure the device. Use a strong device password or passcode, enable automatic locking, and keep the operating system and app environment updated.
- Limit access to project files. Restrict access to the folder containing the project and its data to your own account where your operating system allows it. Avoid sharing the device account with people who should not see your notes.
- Check backups and synced folders. If the project directory is inside a cloud-synced or routinely backed-up folder, its contents may be copied beyond the device. Review those services’ settings and consider whether your watchlist notes belong there.
- Keep notes proportionate to your needs. A thesis or trigger may reveal how you think about a position. Avoid adding account credentials or other information that the tracker does not need.
What to verify before relying on “local”
A program can do analysis locally and still fetch market data or interact with other services. The developer’s description itself says BolsaBuddy fetches Yahoo Finance data, so “local” should not be read as “never connects to the internet.” To assess the installed version, inspect its current code and dependencies, observe its outbound requests if you have the technical means, and check where it writes files. The linked repository and demo are referenced by the developer, but the project description alone does not settle these implementation details.
