Áine Denari, the company’s chief technology officer and Navico Group president, is scheduled to become CEO on January 1, 2027. She has said Brunswick will continue executing the strategy laid out at its 2026 Investor Day. That makes technology a prominent part of the leadership transition, but the announcement does not promise faster investment, a strategic pivot, or specific product launches.
When Brunswick’s CEO transition takes effect
Brunswick announced on September 21, 2026, that CEO and Chairman David Foulkes will retire at the end of the year. Denari’s appointment as CEO is effective January 1, 2027. Lead Independent Director David Everitt is scheduled to become Non-Executive Chairman on that date. The change is announced but not yet in effect.
Denari has been Brunswick’s Executive Vice President and Navico Group president, as well as its chief technology officer, since August 2024. Brunswick says she oversees technology strategy and advanced development, including autonomy programs and the Boating Intelligence DesignLab at the University of Illinois. The company describes her as having over 30 years of experience across automotive, mobility, industrial, and manufacturing businesses. Brunswick’s succession announcement provides those details.
What Brunswick means by digital boating
Brunswick’s 2025 Form 10-K describes a strategy built around intuitive digital consumer experiences and leadership in AI and ACES applications: autonomy, connectivity, electrification, and shared access. The filing links these priorities to customer experiences, broader participation in recreational boating, technology development, earnings growth, and shareholder value. Brunswick’s businesses span marine propulsion, boats, parts and accessories, and marine electronics, giving the strategy a company-wide rather than single-product scope. See the 2025 Form 10-K.

The company’s 2026 Investor Day materials frame its priorities around growth, advancing marine technology, enhancing customer experiences, and strengthening Brunswick’s position in recreational boating. Denari said in the succession announcement: “As we move forward, we will continue to execute the strategy outlined at our 2026 Investor Day and build on our strong momentum to deliver transformational growth.” The growth language is an aspiration, not a quantified forecast.
What Denari’s appointment could mean for technology priorities
Because Denari already leads Navico Group and holds the CTO role, her move to CEO places an executive with direct technology and marine-business responsibilities at the top of Brunswick. That background could help maintain continuity between technology development and corporate decisions. It is a reasonable interpretation of her documented roles, not a company commitment to a new structure or a different pace of execution.

Brunswick’s announcement does not set a quantified digital-investment target or specify product launch dates, adoption levels, revenue contribution, or when autonomy features might be deployed. On the evidence available, it would be premature to say Denari will accelerate digital boating, “double down,” or pivot the strategy. The clearest signal is that Brunswick intends to keep pursuing its existing Investor Day strategy.
AutoCaptain illustrates the portfolio, not a promise of wider availability
Brunswick says Denari helped drive innovation from Lowrance and Simrad, including AutoCaptain, which the company calls “the market’s first fully integrated autonomous boat docking solution.” That description is Brunswick’s claim; the cited announcement does not independently establish a market-wide comparison. Nor does it specify consumer availability, compatibility, or a direct connection to chartplotter retail products. AutoCaptain illustrates the kind of technology in the portfolio, but it should not be treated as proof of a broader rollout.

How to read the leadership change
- What is established: Denari is scheduled to take over on January 1, 2027, after serving as CTO and Navico Group president.
- What Brunswick says will continue: execution of its 2026 Investor Day strategy, which includes digital experiences and ACES priorities.
- What remains unproven: whether the CEO change will alter spending, timing, product availability, adoption, or the strategic emphasis placed on digital boating.
For now, the succession is best read as a leadership handoff to someone already closely involved in Brunswick’s technology agenda—not evidence, by itself, that the agenda will change.
