Existing Evo shops were not disabled: Incomedia said they would continue working, but owners faced a choice between staying on an unupdated pre-2024.2 Evo version and requesting a no-cost move to Pro if their license was active.
What changed in WebSite X5 2024.2
The update split the editions more sharply. Pro gained Stripe as an additional payment provider, while Evo lost the tools and project objects used to create online shops. Incomedia described the change as positioning Evo for simpler websites and Pro for more advanced professional projects.
The release was part of the June 2024 product cycle, not the current WebSite X5 release. Incomedia’s chronology lists later updates, including 2024.3 in September 2024: official release chronology.
Stripe integration was Pro-only
In 2024.2, Pro users could add Stripe among supported payment providers and log in to Stripe from within WebSite X5 while configuring the shop. The official chronology labels the feature “Payments with Stripe only Pro.” The release materials do not establish current Stripe availability, processing fees, or how Stripe compares with other providers.

Evo stopped creating new online shops
Evo 2024.2 removed online-shop creation functions, shop objects and related links. Ecommerce functionality was concentrated in Pro rather than eliminated from WebSite X5 altogether.
Evo also capped additions at 100 pages or blog posts
From 2024.2, an Evo project could have no more than 100 pages and/or blog posts added. A project already above that threshold remained viewable, but its owner could not add further pages or posts under Evo 2024.2.

What happens to an existing Evo online shop?
Incomedia’s migration guidance says existing pre-2024.2 Evo projects with shops continue working normally. Its support article states that “all your projects will keep working normally – which is the most important thing.” The practical options depend on the license and whether you need future updates.
| Situation | What Incomedia says | Key trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-2024.2 Evo license, shop already present | The project continues working. You may keep using the owned Evo version. | That old Evo version will not receive further updates. |
| Same license is active | Contact Incomedia to request conversion to Pro without charge, retaining the existing expiration date. | You can move to the edition that retains ecommerce and receives updates, subject to Incomedia processing the request. |
| Same license is inactive | Contact Incomedia support to discuss a case-specific solution. | No automatic free conversion is promised in the guidance. |
| Evo user with no shop | You can update to 2024.2. If the project exceeds 100 pages or blog posts, existing content remains viewable. | You cannot add more pages or posts after reaching the limit. |
| Pro license | Continue using the software’s Pro functions, including the new Stripe option in 2024.2. | Current features and terms should be checked against today’s documentation. |
Choosing between staying on Evo and moving to Pro
Keep the pre-2024.2 Evo installation when stability matters most
This preserves the existing shop without requiring a migration request. It also means accepting that the old Evo version will not receive updates. Make reliable project backups and avoid assuming that future operating-system, hosting or payment-service changes will be covered by that unsupported version.

Request the free Pro conversion when the license is active
An active license holder can ask Incomedia to convert it to Pro at no charge, with the same expiration date, according to the official conversion guidance. This is the clearest route for an existing shop owner who needs ongoing WebSite X5 updates or wants the Pro payment options.
Contact support if the license is inactive
Incomedia directs inactive-license owners to support for an individual solution. Do not assume that the active-license conversion terms apply automatically.

Historical hosting figures: useful context, not current pricing
The WebSite X5 v2024.2 manual listed edition-specific hosting allocations: Evo included 100 GB of web space and one mailbox, while Pro included 500 GB, five mailboxes and a database. These are historical manual details, not verified current entitlements. Check the current terms before treating them as part of a purchase decision: v2024.2 manual.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What the update means for payment planning
Stripe reduced setup friction for Pro users by placing account sign-in and provider selection inside WebSite X5’s shop configuration. It does not, by itself, establish Stripe’s transaction pricing, payout timing, tax handling or suitability for a particular business. Those depend on Stripe’s terms, country and account configuration, so evaluate them separately from the WebSite X5 edition decision.

Quick Recap

Bottom line for each reader
- Building a new shop in 2024.2: choose Pro if you need WebSite X5’s ecommerce tools or the Stripe integration.
- Running an older Evo shop with an active license: the shop should keep working, and you can request a free Pro conversion with the same expiration date.
- Running an older Evo shop with an inactive license: contact Incomedia support before changing editions.
- Using Evo for a non-commerce site: updating is possible, but the 100-page/blog-post cap limits future additions once reached.
