Short answer: WazirX users reported app and website access problems, slow loading, missing account data and an “unknown error occurred” message during several incidents covered through August 25, 2023. The available record describes multiple episodes—not one continuous, fully confirmed exchange-wide outage—and does not establish a single cause for every error.
This is a historical update. It should not be read as confirmation that WazirX is down on August 25, 2026, or on any other current date.
What users reported
- The mobile app or website would not load normally or took an unusually long time to respond.
- Some users said cryptocurrency listings, portfolio balances or transaction history were missing from the interface.
- Trading screens, order books and order-history pages were reported as slow or unreliable.
- Separate complaints involved INR deposits and UPI payments.
These symptoms came from reports spanning 2022 and 2023. A blank portfolio or generic error can mean that account data failed to load; it does not, by itself, prove that assets disappeared.

Was WazirX actually down?
Not necessarily for every user. The evidence supports periods of elevated latency and access trouble affecting WazirX’s app and web platform, but it does not prove a complete global outage or show that every “unknown error occurred” notification had the same cause.

What WazirX said about the incidents
WazirX reportedly acknowledged latency and long wait times on its app and web platform during some episodes, and later said that delays had been resolved while monitoring continued. Those statements relate to particular dates and should not be treated as a diagnosis of every later error.

UPI complaints were described separately. WazirX attributed some payment problems to changes involving its financial institution and, in another update, described UPI as under maintenance. A payment-rail problem can prevent an INR deposit even when trading screens are available.

What to try before contacting support
- Check the same account on both the WazirX app and website.
- Switch between Wi‑Fi and cellular data.
- Force-close and reopen the app.
- Install updates only from the official Apple App Store or Google Play listing.
- Restart the device.
- Temporarily disable a VPN, proxy, private DNS or aggressive ad blocker, then test again.
- Try the web platform in a current browser.
- Do not repeatedly submit an order or deposit while the service is lagging.
- Capture the exact time, screen message, order ID, bank reference or blockchain transaction hash.
- Use WazirX’s official Help Center or in-app support route.
WazirX documents the in-app path as Account Settings → Help and Support. Its support page currently lists hours of 8 AM–12 AM IST, Monday through Sunday; hours can change. See WazirX’s support instructions.
If a trade or deposit looks stuck
Check before retrying a trade
- Review balances, open orders and order history.
- Do not place a second market order simply because the first request timed out.
- Record the order ID and status before taking another action.
WazirX’s API documentation warns that an UNKNOWN execution status must not automatically be treated as failure because the request may have succeeded. That warning is API-specific; it does not prove that the mobile-app message behaved identically. Technical readers can consult WazirX’s API documentation.

For INR deposits
Keep the bank transaction reference and check whether the transfer is pending, credited, reversed or absent from the exchange ledger. A bank-confirmed transfer may still take time to appear in WazirX.
For crypto transfers
Keep the transaction hash and verify the destination address and network on the relevant blockchain explorer. The exchange interface alone is not conclusive evidence of blockchain settlement.

Contact support without creating a security problem
Start at the official WazirX Help Center; its categories cover account access, INR, crypto transfers, trading, security and KYC. If the articles do not resolve the issue, use the documented support chat or the in-app route.
- Never send money or cryptocurrency to someone claiming to be support.
- Never share a password, seed phrase, private key, one-time authentication code or full recovery credentials.
- Be skeptical of social-media accounts and “recovery agents” offering to unlock funds.
WazirX’s warning about impersonation and fake support profiles appears in its cyberattack and security update.
Separate later development: the July 18, 2024 cyberattack
WazirX documented a separate cyberattack on July 18, 2024, followed by pauses to deposits, withdrawals and trading while it investigated. That event occurred after the 2022–2023 latency and “unknown error” reports. There is no evidence in the cited material that the older app incidents were caused by, or directly connected to, the attack. WazirX later announced phased INR withdrawals beginning August 26, 2024 in a separate announcement.

The indexed support pages currently direct users to Help Center search, chat and in-app support. A support-request page also displays WazirX ZERO at ₹99 per month plus taxes with a 15-day free pass.
