The most reliable way to reorder something you bought on Amazon.com is to open Your Orders, search or filter your past purchases, open the matching order, and inspect the current offer before buying. The Buy Again button is convenient, but it does not guarantee the same seller, price, packaging, variant, or condition is still available.
The fastest way to find and reorder an Amazon purchase
- Sign in to the Amazon account used for the original purchase.
- Open Your Orders from the account menu.
- Search your order history using the product name, brand, model number, category, or a distinctive keyword from the listing title. Amazon describes order-history search as a way to locate previous purchases and support repurchase workflows (Amazon’s explanation of order-history search).
- Open likely matches instead of assuming the first result is correct.
- Check the order details, including the item, size, color, quantity, seller, and model or ASIN.
- Select the available reorder control, such as Buy Again or Buy it again, or open the product page and add the current offer to your cart.
- Before checkout, recheck the current price, seller, delivery date, condition, return terms, and product variant.
Amazon may change button names, filters, and page placement. The function matters more than the exact wording: locate the old order, identify the item, and inspect the current offer.
Use a year or date filter when search fails
If you remember roughly when you bought the item, use the order-history year or date filter available in your current Amazon.com interface. Start with the most likely year and review the orders individually.
This approach is useful when you remember the product incorrectly or Amazon’s listing title uses a brand or description you do not recognize. Browsing is slower, but it can be more reliable than searching with the wrong keyword.

How to find the item in the Amazon Shopping app
- Open the Amazon Shopping app.
- Tap the account or profile area.
- Open Your Orders.
- Search or browse your previous orders.
- Select the relevant order and inspect the item details.
- Use the available reorder control or open the current product page.
App navigation can vary by device, app version, account, and region, so the mobile layout may not match Amazon’s desktop website exactly.
What to check before tapping “Buy Again”
Amazon’s reorder shortcut uses your previous order as a reference; it is not a price lock or a guarantee that the current offer is identical. Confirm:
- Product identity: brand, model number, ASIN, and technical specifications.
- Variant: size, dimensions, color, flavor, scent, capacity, or compatibility.
- Quantity: single item versus multipack, and the number of units.
- Condition: new, renewed, used, or refurbished.
- Seller and fulfillment: who currently sells and fulfills the offer.
- Price: the current amount may differ because of a changed seller, promotion, pack size, or market conditions.
- Delivery: estimated arrival date and shipping cost.
- Returns and warranty: eligibility, deadline, and applicable manufacturer coverage.
- Recurring delivery: make sure the purchase has not changed to a Subscribe & Save order unless you want automatic shipments.
Be especially careful with replacement filters, batteries, chargers, printer ink, appliance parts, phone accessories, supplements, skincare, food, pet products, and safety equipment. Compare model numbers and specifications rather than relying on a similar thumbnail image.

What if “Buy Again” is missing?
The button may be absent because the item is unavailable, the offer or seller changed, the order was canceled or returned, the listing is no longer eligible for the same purchase flow, or Amazon’s current interface exposes only a product link or related-item option.

- Check whether the old product page shows a replacement, successor, or related product.
- Search Amazon using the model number or exact product identifiers.
- Compare the replacement’s specifications with the old item.
- Read recent listing details and reviews.
- Contact the manufacturer if compatibility, safety, or electrical specifications matter.
A recommendation from Amazon is not technical proof that a replacement is compatible.

Finding a product when you forgot its name
Search progressively broader terms in Your Orders:
- The brand name
- The model or part number
- The category plus a distinctive feature
- A word printed on the packaging
- A keyword from the product title
- The approximate purchase year
You can also review other items bought in the same order. A related product may help you recognize the forgotten item or its brand.
Make sure you are searching order history, not Amazon’s general product catalog. If nothing appears, try browsing by year and check other possible accounts.
Finding purchases that are more than two years old
Do not assume that every Amazon retail account exposes the same number of historical years. Record availability can vary by account type, region, order age, and Amazon’s current policies.

For an ordinary Amazon shopper, try these backups:
- Search every available order-history year.
- Check order-confirmation emails.
- Look for invoices or customer-service records.
- Confirm that you are using the account and email address that placed the order.
- Contact Amazon Customer Service if the order is missing.
Amazon retail orders are different from Amazon Business records, Seller Central orders, Amazon Pay transactions, and Buy with Prime purchases. Amazon seller documentation about archived orders older than two years applies to sellers’ records, not automatically to ordinary shoppers (seller archived-order discussion; seller retrieval details).

Buy with Prime is different from a normal Amazon.com purchase: the order was placed on a participating brand’s website using a Prime checkout option. Amazon says eligible Buy with Prime orders may appear in the customer’s Amazon account, where shoppers can track the order, view details, start a return, get help, or buy the product again (Amazon’s Buy with Prime account guide).
Look for a dedicated Buy with Prime area or tab within your order history. If it is not present, check the confirmation email from the brand’s website or contact that merchant.

Can Amazon automatically reorder products?
For household and personal-care consumables, Subscribe & Save can automate repeat deliveries. It makes sense when you use the item on a predictable schedule and are willing to monitor the delivery frequency, price, and cancellation settings.
Manual reordering is usually safer when your usage is irregular, the item may expire, prices change frequently, you travel often, or automatic deliveries could create waste. Subscribe & Save discounts and eligibility vary by product and account; it is not automatically the cheapest option.
Amazon Business separately advertises savings of up to 15% on orders of five or more items and says subscriptions can be skipped, canceled, or updated. That claim applies to the Amazon Business program and should not be generalized to every consumer account (Amazon Business Subscribe & Save).
Common problems and quick fixes
- No order appears: Check a spouse’s or household member’s account, another email address, an Amazon Business account, or another regional Amazon marketplace.
- Search returns irrelevant products: Try the brand, model, packaging text, category, or year, then browse orders manually.
- The image looks right but the item is different: Compare the model number, ASIN, variant, pack count, condition, and specifications.
- The price is higher: Check whether the seller, pack size, promotion, or offer changed. The old order does not preserve the previous price.
- Several sellers appear: Compare the seller, fulfillment method, condition, delivery date, and return terms before selecting an offer.
- The app lacks a desktop control: Open the order details or product page, or try Amazon.com in a browser.
Before placing the replacement order
- Exact model or product identity confirmed
- Correct size, variant, compatibility, and quantity
- Current seller and condition reviewed
- Price and delivery date accepted
- Return and warranty terms checked
- Recurring delivery disabled unless intentionally selected
Amazon’s Your Orders page is the best starting point, but the safest reorder is the one that matches the old item’s specifications—not merely the one with the most familiar photo or button.
