Virgin Plus did add a 10GB bonus to selected wireless plans in August 2025, following a similar Fido promotion. That promotion is historical: the reported prices and bonus should not be treated as a current offer. A September 2026 comparison showed a different Virgin Plus and Fido lineup, while Virgin Plus’s own indexed page advertised a separate $45/month, 20GB bring-your-own-device offer with a displayed October 5 expiry whose year and local eligibility require confirmation.
What the August 2025 Virgin Plus promotion included
MobileSyrup reported on August 11, 2025 that Virgin Plus had followed Fido by adding 10GB of bonus data to three plans. The reported monthly prices and base allowances were:

Those figures describe the promotion as reported in August 2025, not a standing Virgin Plus price list. The same report said the plans included unlimited Canada-wide calling and texting, unlimited international texting from Canada, and 4G LTE data with download speeds up to 150 Mbps. It also reported a $10 autopay discount and a waived $75 service-connection fee for online bring-your-own-device purchases. The original eligibility rules and precise end date were not established in the available reporting.
How Fido fit into the comparison
An August 12, 2025 roundup described Fido’s matching promotion as $40 for 10GB, $45 for 40GB, and $50 for 60GB, with 10GB of bonus data on each plan. Virgin Plus was reported with the same price and base-data pattern, which is why the coverage characterized it as copying Fido.

What changed by September 2026
A September 2026 plan comparison reported a newer set of offers. Its headline prices were after autopay discounts, and it cautioned that prices vary by province.

Virgin Plus’s indexed offer page
Virgin Plus’s offer page accessed September 30, 2026 advertised a $45-per-month, 20GB BYOD offer for new activations. The page mentioned hotspot access, international texting and an autopay credit. It said customers must set up pre-authorized debit within 31 days of ordering to receive the autopay benefit.
The page displayed an offer end date of October 5, but the extracted terms did not identify the year. Check the live page for the applicable year, province, activation conditions and whether the offer is still open before ordering. An offer shown on a provider page can change without notice.

How to compare Virgin Plus and Fido now
- Use the price you will actually pay. Confirm whether the advertised amount assumes autopay, a limited-time credit, or another required discount.
- Separate base and bonus data. A bonus allowance may expire, have different eligibility rules, or disappear when the promotion ends. Do not assume the 2025 extra 10GB is included in a current plan.
- Check your province. The September 2026 comparison reported lower Virgin Plus prices in Quebec than in its Ontario-facing lineup.
- Match travel needs. Canada-only plans are not equivalent to plans that include Canada-US-Mexico usage.
- Verify features. Confirm hotspot access, international texting, calling coverage and network-speed terms in the current plan details.
- Check activation status. The indexed $45/20GB offer required a new activation and bringing your own phone.
- Read the expiry and credit terms. Record the displayed end date and the conditions for keeping autopay or other credits.
What happens if you switch
Virgin Plus’s service terms warn that transferring service or a phone number can interrupt service or cause an associated credit or offer to be lost. Before porting a number or moving an existing account, ask Virgin Plus how the transfer affects every credit and eligibility condition on your account. Keep the old service active until the port completes if uninterrupted connectivity is important.

The evidence supports the 10GB bonus as an August 2025 promotion, not as a confirmed September or October 2026 feature. Current availability must be checked against the live Virgin Plus and Fido offer terms for your province. The later $45/20GB BYOD listing is a different offer and should not be described as the old bonus continuing.
