Upwind announced a $250 million Series B on January 26, 2026, with TechCrunch reporting a $1.5 billion valuation for that round. The latest financing reported here is a separate deal: Calcalist said on September 2, 2026, that Upwind raised about $300 million at an approximately $3.8 billion valuation. Those are reported private-company financing valuations, not public-market values.

How much did Upwind raise, and what is it valued at?

The $250 million figure belongs to Upwind’s January 2026 Series B. CEO Amiram Shachar said the round brought total investment in the company to more than $430 million. TechCrunch reported the Series B valuation at $1.5 billion.

On September 2, 2026, Calcalist reported a subsequent financing of about $300 million at an approximately $3.8 billion valuation. The later figure is a media-reported valuation for a private company, not a market capitalization or a publicly traded share price. The two financings should not be combined: they occurred at different times and were reported at different valuations.

Upwind’s January 26 announcement confirms the Series B amount and total investment figure. The valuations and investor details above are attributed to TechCrunch’s January report and Calcalist’s September report.

Who led Upwind’s Series B?

Bessemer Venture Partners led the January 2026 Series B. Salesforce Ventures and Picture Capital participated, TechCrunch reported. In its own announcement, Bessemer framed its investment around the platform’s appeal to security and DevOps teams; that is the investor’s rationale, not an independent product assessment. Its January 26 investor announcement described Upwind as building a runtime-first cloud security platform.

What does Upwind do?

Upwind sells cloud-security software to enterprises. Its platform is described as runtime-first: CRN reported that it uses an eBPF-based sensor to provide real-time visibility into cloud workloads, configurations, and applications. Calcalist described its broader cloud-native application protection platform (CNAPP) scope as spanning cloud security posture management, workload protection, detection and response, and identity security.

That positioning differs in emphasis from security tools focused mainly on static configuration and posture checks. Runtime context can show what is happening in live workloads and may help teams assess vulnerabilities against observed activity, potentially improving prioritization and alert relevance. These are descriptions of the product approach, not verified evidence that Upwind outperforms other tools: the cited coverage does not provide an independent performance benchmark.

CRN’s product and channel coverage is available in its January 2026 report. The company’s founding and product background appear in the Upwind newsroom.

What the funding is intended to support

Upwind said it would use the Series B proceeds to scale the company and invest across AI, data, and code. TechCrunch reported plans for product development, go-to-market expansion, AI security capabilities, and tools intended to catch misconfigurations earlier in development. These were stated plans for the proceeds, not proof that the investments have already produced particular results.

What the reported growth figures do—and do not—show

TechCrunch reported in January 2026 that Upwind’s revenue had grown 900% year over year since its 2024 Series A and that its customer base had doubled. Those are growth figures reported by TechCrunch, not audited revenue disclosure; they do not establish the company’s revenue amount, profitability, or future growth rate.

TechCrunch named Siemens, Peloton, Roku, Wix, Nextdoor, and Nubank among Upwind’s customers. Separately, CRN reported that the company said it had added more than 100 partners during the preceding year, including managed service providers (MSPs) and value-added resellers (VARs). The partner count is a company-disclosed channel figure, not a count of customers.

Upwind’s newsroom snapshot, accessed September 28, 2026, listed more than 300 employees and more than 150 customers. Those are company-provided snapshot figures and may change; they are not independently audited measures.
