UGG Alternatives That Look Like the Real Thing: 13 Women’s Picks and What Men Should Know

Compare women’s UGG-style boots, clogs, mules and slippers by materials, weather claims and intended use. The available comparisons do not verify these picks for men.

For UGG-like looks, compare the silhouette and materials first: suede with genuine sheepskin or shearling feels different from suede with faux fur, and water-resistant footwear is not necessarily waterproof. The 13 options below are women’s styles in the cited coverage; the available evidence does not support presenting them as a verified men’s shopping list.

How to choose an UGG alternative

“UGG alternative” can mean a short boot, an Ultra Mini-style boot, a platform clog, a chukka, a scuff slipper or a Tasman-like mule. Decide which shape you want before comparing prices. Then check the lining, weather claim, sole and sizing for the specific model: a familiar outline does not make two shoes equivalent.

  • Materials: Some options use sheepskin or shearling; others use wool blends or faux fur. Read the model’s material description rather than relying on appearance.
  • Weather: Waterproof and water-resistant are different claims. The sources describe Regatta’s Risley boots and mule as waterproof, while EMU and Cushionaire models are described as water-resistant.
  • Use: A grippy outsole and a weather-rated construction matter more for regular outdoor wear than a resemblance to a popular style. Some slippers have soles suitable for brief errands, not necessarily all-day outdoor use.
  • Fit: Check the size range, half-size availability, back coverage and support. SELF notes that Bearpaw Martis has no half sizes or arch support, and that the low back on Steve Madden Selena-2 may feel less secure.

SELF’s comparison, published February 17, 2025, describes multi-week wear testing; the observations below are attributed to that publication, not presented as independent testing. Woman & Home’s August 2026 article adds several models and shape comparisons. Prices and stock are snapshots, so check the current listing, seller, size range and materials before buying.

13 women’s UGG alternatives by shape and use

Platform clog and slide styles

  1. Steve Madden Selena-2 Chestnut Suede. A Tazz-like platform clog with suede, faux-fur lining and a 1.5-inch platform, according to SELF. Its tester liked the warmth and trim but noted limited colors and a low back that can feel less secure. Consider it for the platform-clog look, not as a close-fitting boot.
  2. Bearpaw Martis. A Tazz-like slide made with suede, a wool blend and rubber; SELF says it has rain- and stain-resistant treatment. The same guide flags no half sizes and no arch support, so check sizing and support needs before choosing it.
  3. Regatta Women’s Risley Mule Waterproof Lifestyle Shoes. A Tasman-style slip-on with a waterproof design and grip, recommended by Woman & Home. It is a women’s mule option for shoppers prioritizing the cited weather claim over genuine shearling construction.
  4. Bearpaw Tabitha Loafer. A Tasman-like suede slip-on with wool lining and a textured rubber sole, as described by Woman & Home. That article mentions an Amazon listing; retailer availability can change, and celebrity wear is not evidence of fit or performance.

Short boots and ankle boots

  1. EMU Australia Platinum Stinger Slim Mini. A Classic Mini-like boot. SELF describes water-resistant sheepskin and a grippy, grooved outsole, making this a genuine-sheepskin option with a water-resistance claim rather than a waterproof guarantee.
  2. Cushionaire Hip 2 Genuine Suede Ankle Snow Boots. An Ultra Mini-like short boot. SELF lists suede leather, shearling, foam, rubber and latex, and describes a water-resistant upper and slip-resistant outsole. Those are model-specific claims; they do not establish that the boot is waterproof.
  3. EMU Australia Stinger Micro. Woman & Home describes this as double-face Australian sheepskin, water-resistant and close to the classic UGG shape. It suits shoppers seeking a low-profile short boot with genuine sheepskin.
  4. Dream Pairs Ankle Winter Mini Boots. A budget-oriented short suede boot with a cushioned footbed; Woman & Home compares its shape with the UGG Classic Short. The cited description does not establish genuine shearling or a waterproof rating.
  5. Bearpaw Women’s Elle Short Slouch Boots. Woman & Home describes suede and sheepskin lining in a short, slouchy boot. The cited guide does not establish a weather rating, so do not assume it is waterproof.
  6. FitFlop Women’s Gen-Ff Mini Shearling Ankle Boots. A more structured mini boot with double-faced shearling, cushioning, leather panels and a chunky sole, according to Woman & Home. It is a different take on the familiar shape rather than a direct construction match to every UGG model.
  7. Koolaburra by UGG Koola Mini. A familiar short-boot silhouette with suede and faux-fur lining, as described by Woman & Home. Koolaburra is discontinued: the unofficial Koolaburras.com site says its official website closed on March 31, 2025, and remaining stock is third-party inventory. Treat availability as finite and verify the seller and product details.

Chukka and platform bootie

  1. Quince Australian Shearling Chukka Bootie. A Neumel-like chukka in suede, leather, shearling and rubber. SELF describes a water-repellent treatment and warmth, but says traction is not great. It is a style-led choice where grip may be a trade-off.
  2. Fireside by Dearfoams Kingston Genuine Shearling Platform Bootie. An Ultra Mini-like platform bootie with suede, shearling and an EVA-foam sole. SELF praises its warmth and stability; the guide also notes that some Amazon reviewers questioned lining quality. That reported concern is not a definitive assessment of every pair.

Scuff slipper

  1. Fireside by Dearfoams Sydney Genuine Shearling Scuff Slipper. A Scuffette-like slipper made with suede, shearling and EVA foam. SELF says its durable sole can handle brief outdoor errands, while noting that some shoppers find the platform clunky. Choose it as a slipper rather than assuming it performs like a walking boot.

Which options are genuine shearling, and which are lookalikes?

Material is one of the clearest distinctions among these styles. SELF describes the EMU Platinum Stinger Slim Mini as sheepskin, and the Quince, Kingston, Cushionaire and Sydney styles as using shearling. Woman & Home describes the EMU Stinger Micro and Bearpaw Elle Short as sheepskin-lined, and FitFlop’s Gen-Ff Mini as double-faced shearling. By contrast, Steve Madden Selena-2 and Koolaburra Koola Mini are described as faux-fur-lined. Bearpaw Martis uses a wool blend. These descriptions come from the cited editorial guides; check the exact live product listing for its current composition.

Are these UGG alternatives available for men?

The 13 named options above are women’s picks in the available comparisons, including styles explicitly identified as women’s. They should not be treated as a men’s list or assumed to fit men’s sizing. UGG Canada’s men’s catalog confirms that UGG sells men’s footwear and says selected weather-rated styles have seam-sealed construction, but that is not evidence that any alternative listed here is offered in men’s sizes.

Koolaburra’s legacy Burra Mini listing names men’s sizing, but Koolaburra is discontinued and remaining inventory is third-party stock. Verify size availability and seller details directly; a historic listing does not establish current stock.

How to check a listing before you buy

  • Confirm the exact model name and whether the listing is for a boot, mule, clog or slipper.
  • Read the upper and lining materials. “Suede” does not tell you whether the lining is shearling, wool blend or faux fur.
  • Look for an explicit waterproof or water-resistant claim on that model. Do not treat the terms as interchangeable.
  • Check the outsole description and intended use, especially if you expect to wear slippers or fashion clogs outdoors.
  • Confirm the size range and half-size availability, and check the return policy if fit is uncertain.
  • For discontinued Koolaburra styles, verify that the seller and remaining stock are legitimate and that the listing accurately describes the item.
