The promotion offered invitations to the 220 top token holders and an additional reception to the top 25. A later CoinGecko snapshot, observed October 3, 2026, showed $TRUMP 97.1% below its $73.43 all-time high. That market comparison does not mean every holder lost 97.1%.
What was the Trump meme coin dinner?
The dinner was a promotional event tied to holdings of $TRUMP, a meme coin associated with Trump. The promotion described the offer as “the most EXCLUSIVE INVITATION in the world,” according to Reuters’ contemporaneous report. The event took place on May 22, 2025, at Trump’s golf club in Virginia; it is not an upcoming dinner.
Who qualified for the $TRUMP dinner?
The promotion offered dinner invitations to the top 220 $TRUMP holders, with an additional reception for the top 25. Eligibility was based on token holdings, making the invitation a benefit attached to the contest rather than a conventional ticket offered to the public.
How much did buyers spend to qualify?
Reuters reported an estimated $148 million in buyer spending in the contest for dinner invitations. This was a reported estimate, not an official tally of ticket revenue or a confirmed payment to the event organizer.

What does it mean that $TRUMP was down 97%?
On October 3, 2026, CoinGecko’s market page showed $TRUMP 97.1% below its all-time high of $73.43. That percentage compares the token’s observed market price with its peak price; it is a time-sensitive market snapshot, not a measurement of losses realized by individual holders. See CoinGecko’s $TRUMP market page for its live price context.
The dinner offer was associated with a sharp price rise in contemporaneous announcement coverage, but that reaction and the later decline are separate moments in the token’s price history. A price change from the all-time high does not show what any specific participant paid or received.

Did every holder lose 97%?
No. The 97.1% figure describes the market price relative to the all-time high on October 3, 2026; it does not establish that every holder lost that amount. An individual’s result depends on purchase timing, how much they held, and whether or when they sold. Without those details, the market comparison cannot establish either realized losses from completed sales or unrealized losses on tokens still held.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why did the dinner draw ethics and access concerns?
The event drew scrutiny because purchases of a token associated with Trump were linked to access to a sitting president. Contemporary coverage and a congressional letter raised potential conflict-of-interest and access concerns. Those concerns were political arguments and questions raised by critics, not adjudicated findings of wrongdoing.

The Congressional Record cited the project website’s disclaimer that the token was not intended to be an investment opportunity, investment contract, or security. That is the project’s disclaimer as represented in the Record, not a court or regulator’s legal determination. See the Congressional Record entry and the congressional letter on the dinner.
