The project says WLFI holders can propose, review and vote on platform matters. WLFI is not the same thing as USD1, which the project describes as its flagship stablecoin. A governance role does not establish that WLFI will rise in value, and the available disclosures do not establish a current price, circulating supply or WLFI-specific legal classification.
What is the Trump crypto token called?
The token associated with World Liberty Financial is called $WLFI. World Liberty Financial describes it as a governance token: a token intended to let holders participate in decisions about the platform. “Trump crypto token” is a search phrase, not a precise description of WLFI’s function or a guarantee that a token has a particular market value.
World Liberty Financial’s documentation describes a wider project ecosystem, including products, governance and tokenomics materials. Its descriptions explain how the project presents itself; they are not independent verification of a product’s performance or of WLFI as an investment.
What does WLFI do, and how is it different from USD1?
WLFI: the governance token
According to World Liberty Financial’s governance materials, WLFI holders are invited to propose, review and vote on matters affecting the platform. That stated governance purpose is distinct from a promise of income, a claim on the project’s assets or an assurance that a proposal will be adopted.

USD1: a separate stablecoin
The project’s documentation identifies USD1 as its flagship stablecoin and treats WLFI separately in its governance and tokenomics materials. In other words, WLFI is not USD1, and the project’s description of USD1 as a stablecoin should not be applied to WLFI.
Can WLFI holders vote?
World Liberty Financial presents holder participation as part of WLFI’s purpose. Its governance forum is where proposals are posted, but a forum listing alone shows that a proposal was published—not that it passed, took effect or remains the governing rule.

What an April 2026 proposal said
An April 2026 World Liberty Financial proposal about a token unlock described a seven-day voting period, a quorum of 1,000,000,000 WLFI and a simple-majority threshold. Those were the parameters printed in that proposal; they should not be assumed to be the rules for every vote or the rules in effect now.
The proposal’s author also reported that six earlier governance proposals had passed, with reported participation ranging from 2.7 billion to 11.1 billion WLFI. These are figures reported by the proposal author, not an independent audit or a forecast of participation in future votes. The official forum index also listed topics titled “Governance Engagement Incentive Program” and “WLFI Governance Staking System”; their appearance as topics does not establish that either was approved or implemented.

Are WLFI tokens locked?
Some disclosed WLFI holdings were subject to lock-ups, but the specific filing below concerns one company’s holdings, not every WLFI holder or the token’s total circulating supply.
AI Financial Corporation’s disclosed holdings
In an SEC-filed Form 10-Q, AI Financial Corporation reported that 7,283,585,650 WLFI held by the company were subject to contractual lock-ups as of March 28, 2026. The filing described two tranches:
Rank #4
- 3,533,585,650 WLFI: non-transferable for 12 months, with limited uses such as collateral, staking or lending permitted where they do not involve a sale or permanent transfer.
- 3,750,000,000 WLFI: locked for 12 months from closing and subject to shareholder approval, a charter amendment and a resale registration statement before release.
These conditions describe the company’s disclosed position; they do not establish the release schedule for other holders or how many tokens are circulating.
Terms proposed for other groups
The April 2026 forum proposal described full token retention for early supporters on a four-year distribution schedule. For founders, team members, advisors and partners, it proposed a permanent burn alongside a four-year distribution timeline. These were proposed terms, not proof of current or implemented tokenomics.

What do public financial disclosures say?
On June 30, 2026, the Associated Press reported, based on an annual financial disclosure, that Trump received more than $500 million from World Liberty Financial through sales of new crypto products, including governance tokens. AP also reported that the tokens and coins had fallen in value since sales. The report covered multiple crypto products; it does not establish a WLFI-only price change or provide a current WLFI market quote.
Is WLFI a security?
The SEC’s March 2026 crypto-asset interpretive release addresses categories of digital assets and how federal securities laws apply to certain crypto transactions. The accompanying release discusses a token taxonomy and subjects including staking, airdrops and wrapping. The SEC materials cited here do not classify WLFI specifically, so they do not establish that WLFI is definitively a security or definitively outside securities laws.
The SEC Division of Corporation Finance’s FAQs say they represent staff views, are not an SEC rule or regulation, and have no legal force or effect. The staff says whether promotional statements amount to representations or promises depends on the facts and circumstances; promotion of a crypto system’s current utility likely would not, without more, constitute such a promise. That is general staff guidance, not a final legal conclusion about WLFI.
What is not established about WLFI’s market?
The available information does not establish a current WLFI price, circulating supply, trading volume, liquidity depth or supported exchange list. It also does not establish an independent smart-contract audit, a security assessment or specific hardware-wallet compatibility. Those gaps matter if you are considering a purchase or custody arrangement: governance descriptions and company lock-up disclosures cannot answer what a token can be bought or sold for, how readily it can be traded, or how a particular wallet will handle it.
