Travel Tuesday 2026 is Tuesday, December 1. It is a travel-promotion event, not a guarantee that every flight, hotel or package will be cheaper. The exact 2026 inventory, booking windows and restrictions have not yet been established. Treat the date as a reminder to compare prices—not as a reason to buy a trip you do not already want.
What is Travel Tuesday?
Travel Tuesday (also called Travel Deal Tuesday) is a post-Thanksgiving sales event focused on travel bookings. Hopper says it created the event in 2017 after analyzing historical prices. Promotions can cover flights, hotels, car rentals, cruises, packages and experiences, depending on the participating provider.
McKinsey describes it as a calendar-linked marketing push around Thanksgiving. Companies use the event to promote limited-time fares, hotel rates, credits, upgrades and bundled packages. A promotion can be genuine while still being a poor value for a particular traveler.
When is Travel Tuesday in 2026?
British Airways lists Tuesday, December 1, 2026, as Travel Tuesday. That establishes the event date, not a confirmed offer from British Airways or any other provider. Each company sets its own sale period, eligible travel dates, inventory and terms.

Is Travel Tuesday a real sale?
Yes, companies have run Travel Tuesday promotions, but the event does not create a universal discount. Historical data shows increased interest and booking activity, not a guaranteed reduction in the price of your trip.
- Hopper reported 3.5 times as many trips planned on Travel Deal Tuesday 2024 as on the previous Tuesday.
- Hopper also reported three times as many planned trips as on Black Friday and twice as many as on Cyber Monday that year.
- Hopper said 10,000 hotel properties were on sale during its 2024 event.
- McKinsey, citing Sojern data, reported that searches across 15 popular destinations were 37% higher on Travel Tuesday than the average Tuesday in November and December 2023.
- McKinsey reported that Google search interest for “Travel Tuesday” had increased more than fivefold over two years, while Cyber Monday interest remained more than ten times larger.
These figures measure planned trips, properties promoted, bookings, searches or relative search interest. They do not measure how much money consumers saved.

Examples from earlier Travel Tuesday campaigns
Past promotions show the range of offers you may encounter, but none is a current 2026 deal.
| Provider and year | Advertised promotion | What it demonstrates |
|---|---|---|
| Hopper and Tripadvisor, 2025 | Up to 40% off hotels in selected destinations | Destination-specific inventory and limited supply can apply. |
| Allegiant, December 1–2, 2025 | Up to 40% off airfare; one-way fares from $39 | Airline sales may run for a defined 48-hour period and remain subject to fare terms. |
An advertised percentage can apply only to selected inventory, base rates or particular dates. It may not beat an earlier price, and taxes, baggage, resort fees or required add-ons can change the final cost.
How to tell whether a Travel Tuesday deal is actually cheaper
Compare the same trip under the same conditions. A headline discount is not evidence of savings until the total price and restrictions are checked.

Associated Press reporting quotes NerdWallet travel expert Sally French: “Compare prices, check your calendar and make sure the trip you’re booking is something you genuinely want, not something you bought because a countdown timer pressured you.”
A practical Travel Tuesday checklist
- Choose the trip before sale day. Set dates, destinations, acceptable flight times, room standards and a maximum all-in budget. Decide which alternatives you would genuinely accept.
- Record a reference price. Save the complete fare or lodging price and its terms before promotions begin. Include baggage, cancellation and mandatory fees.
- Check official providers and booking platforms. Look at the airline, hotel or cruise company’s own site as well as reputable booking platforms. Hopper’s past campaign recommended monitoring flights and participating providers, but that advice is not a guarantee of the lowest price.
- Reprice the identical trip. Compare the sale total with your saved price and with another seller offering the same itinerary or property. Do not compare a basic, nonrefundable fare with a flexible fare and call the difference a discount.
- Read eligibility rules. Confirm travel dates, blackout periods, minimum stays, route restrictions, occupancy assumptions, membership requirements and payment deadlines.
- Value extras conservatively. Count points, credits, upgrades and bundled amenities only if you will use them. A credit that requires an unwanted booking or additional spending is not the same as cash off.
- Book only when the terms fit. Save the confirmation, fare rules and cancellation policy. If the trip no longer fits your plans, let the countdown expire.
Are Travel Tuesday flight deals worth waiting for?
Wait if your dates are flexible, you have already identified a trip and you can monitor the all-in price without risking availability. Do not wait solely because a promotion promises a large percentage off. A suitable fare can appear before Travel Tuesday, and a sale fare may have inconvenient times, restrictive changes or expensive baggage.

Airline promotions often use “up to” language, apply to selected routes and exclude peak dates. Compare the complete fare for your exact itinerary and include seat selection, carry-on or checked-bag charges and payment restrictions.

Are Travel Tuesday hotel deals worth it?
Hotel discounts can be useful when the property, room type and dates match your plans. Verify whether the displayed rate includes taxes, resort or destination fees, breakfast, parking and cancellation rights. Compare the same room across the hotel’s site and booking platforms, and check whether loyalty benefits or points are forfeited through a third-party booking.
A low nightly rate can cost more overall if it requires a longer stay, prepaid payment or a room with conditions you would not otherwise choose.
Why a discount percentage can mislead
Travel expert Sally French told the Associated Press that “what gets glossed over is that the best deal might be not booking anything at all if it doesn’t align with your plans.” A provider can calculate a percentage against a reference price that is no longer available, while another seller may offer the same trip for less without using a Travel Tuesday label.
