Costco’s member notice, dated June 2, 2025, named Topo Chico Mineral Water in 16.9-ounce (500 mL) glass bottles packaged in an 18-pack, Costco item 1439351. Costco quoted the company’s reason as “the possibility of contamination with pseudomonas.” The notice characterized health consequences as very low for healthy individuals and said there could be minor consequences for people with weakened immune systems. That is the notice’s general description, not individualized medical advice.
What the broader distribution record says
A separate record reproducing FDA enforcement data reports 241 cases distributed to Arizona, Louisiana, New Mexico, Nevada, and Texas. It lists three lot codes: 11A2543, 12A2543, and 13A2541. This broader distribution record is not the same as Costco’s member notice: Costco’s notice specifies its item, purchase dates, selected Texas and Louisiana warehouses, and lot 13A2541. Do not infer that every retailer, location, or Topo Chico bottle was included in Costco’s notice.
How to check a bottle and request a Costco refund
- Check whether the product is Topo Chico Mineral Water in 16.9-ounce (500 mL) glass bottles sold as an 18-pack, Costco item 1439351.
- Look for lot code 13A2541 on the product packaging. Costco’s notice instructs members with that lot to return the item to a local Costco for a full refund.
- If your purchase was outside the stated May 20–29, 2025 window or at a different retailer, do not assume Costco’s notice determines whether your product is affected. Check the notice from the retailer or contact that retailer directly.
Costco’s notice says: “If you purchased Topo Chico Mineral Water with the lot code #13A2541, please return the item to your local Costco for a full refund.”
