Short answer: For most small shops, the Procolored VF13 Pro Panda offers the most capacity per dollar on the published specifications, while the Roland VersaSTUDIO BD-8 is the stronger compact choice when dealer support and an established ecosystem matter more than purchase price. The Procolored V6 is an entry-level experiment, the Roland BD-12 suits larger desktop transfers, and the Mimaki UJV300DTF-75 is a commercial roll-to-roll system for established volume—not a typical startup printer.

This is an editorial comparison of published specifications, listed prices, intended applications, workflow, and business risk. It is not a hands-on laboratory ranking. UV DTF is also used inconsistently: the list includes both dedicated UV-DTF equipment and UV flatbeds that manufacturers document for use with UV-DTF media.

Quick comparison

Product Type Best for Print area or media width Listed price signal Consumables included? Main drawback
Procolored VF13 Pro Panda UV printer marketed as 2-in-1 UV-DTF Higher-volume small shops 13-inch A3+, dual XP600 $6,399 displayed price Not stated; verify complete bundle Support, warranty and long-term reliability need verification
Procolored V6 Panda Compact UV printer Small-format, low-volume personalization 6.7-inch A4 L800 listing $3,599 displayed price Not stated; verify UV-DTF components Narrow work area and unclear turnkey UV-DTF package
Roland VersaSTUDIO BD-8 UV flatbed with UV-DTF workflow Premium compact operation 5.8 × 8.3 inches $10,995 U.S. MSRP No; sheets, film and ink are separate Small area for the price
Roland VersaSTUDIO BD-12 UV flatbed with UV-DTF workflow Larger desktop transfers 8.3 × 12 inches $15,995 U.S. MSRP No; consumables separate High capital cost; still a manual flatbed workflow
Mimaki UJV300DTF-75 Dedicated roll-to-roll UV-DTF Established transfer production Up to 650 mm (25.6 inches); 3.2 m²/h stated U.S. specification $29,995 MSRP signal in dealer document Obtain a complete dealer quote Commercial footprint, installation and service burden

What UV DTF does—and what it does not do

UV DTF prints a graphic with UV-curable ink onto a transfer medium. The finished transfer is then applied to hard or irregular products such as bottles, tumblers, phone cases, acrylic, metal, glass and promotional gifts. Roland describes the method as useful for rounded corners, lips and other three-dimensional surfaces: Roland’s UV-DTF system explanation.

UV DTF versus apparel DTF

  • UV DTF: hard-product decoration using UV-curable ink and transfer film.
  • Standard DTF: pigment ink, film, adhesive powder and heat for garments and other textiles.

A machine such as Roland’s BN-20D is an apparel DTF system, not a UV-DTF printer. If your core products are T-shirts, hoodies or tote bags, compare standard DTF, sublimation, screen printing or vinyl instead.

Which type of machine are you actually buying?

Dedicated UV-DTF printer

The Mimaki UJV300DTF-75 is explicitly a roll-to-roll UV-DTF printer. Its U.S. specification sheet states a maximum media width of 650 mm (25.6 inches) and 3.2 m²/h in the stated configuration: Mimaki specification sheet.

UV flatbed with a documented UV-DTF workflow

Roland says its BD, MO and CO-i UV printers can be paired with UV-DTF sheets, transfer film and appropriate inks. The BD-8 and BD-12 are desktop flatbeds, so they can also print directly onto suitable flat products: Roland system details.

Lower-cost UV printer marketed for UV-DTF use

Procolored lists the VF13 Pro as a 13-inch A3+ dual-XP600, 2-in-1 UV-DTF printer and the V6 as a 6.7-inch A4 L800 UV printer. Confirm the exact film, ink, RIP and transfer procedure before treating either listing as a turnkey production system.

Reviews and comparisons

1. Procolored VF13 Pro Panda — best value signal for a growing small shop

What it is: Procolored lists a 13-inch A3+ dual-XP600, 2-in-1 UV-DTF printer at a displayed $6,399 price on its comparison and store pages.

Why it stands out: The wider A3+ class work area should accommodate larger transfers and more designs per batch than compact A4/A5 machines. Dual printheads may suit a growing shop, but that is a design indication—not independent proof of production speed.

  • Confirm whether the quoted price includes printer, UV-DTF A/B film or sheets, ink, RIP software, laminating equipment, training and warranty.
  • Ask for printhead replacement pricing, local parts availability and written warranty exclusions.
  • Request a sample on your actual bottle, coating, acrylic or other substrate.

Buy it if: you need more area than an entry-level desktop machine and accept the responsibility of verifying support and ownership costs. Avoid it if: guaranteed local service and independently documented reliability are non-negotiable.

Rank #2

  • All-in-One UV DTF Printing & Laminating: This UV DTF printer can print with a maximum width of 33cm (13 inches) and operates on 110v power, compatible with USA, Mexico, and Canada voltage standards
  • High-Quality DX7 Printhead with 8 Colors: Features one DX7 printhead with 8 colors (KCMY WW VV), capable of printing 1.5 to 2 square meters per hour with print accuracy up to 1440dpi for colorful and smooth results
  • User-Friendly English Software: The UV DTF printer software is in English language and easy to install and use, supporting Windows systems including Windows 7, Windows 10, and Windows 11 with step-by-step technical support videos provided
  • Complete Package Included: The package includes one 13-inch UV DTF printer, one set of A and B film rolls, 6x500ml UV DTF inks, one set of RIIN software, and additional backup parts for immediate use
  • Automatic Maintenance and Cleaning: The machine performs automatic cleaning through software, eliminating the need for manual hand cleaning, and during vacation or holiday periods, simply apply head protect liquid on the suction for proper maintenance

Product pages: comparison and store.

2. Procolored V6 Panda — best compact starter experiment

What it is: A 6.7-inch A4 L800 UV printer with a displayed $3,599 price on Procolored’s comparison page.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The lower entry price and small footprint can help a home-based operator test demand with small labels and personalized products. The trade-off is a narrow print area that limits transfer size and batching. The listing identifies it as a UV printer, so verify that the exact configuration supports your UV-DTF film workflow.

  • Confirm inclusion of A/B film, laminator, compatible ink, RIP software and curing requirements.
  • Budget for white-ink circulation or cleaning, cleaning fluid, waste and replacement heads.
  • Check electrical, ventilation, temperature and humidity requirements before placing it in a home workspace.

Buy it if: your graphics are small and order volume is uncertain. Avoid it if: you need large graphics, high daily output or a fully documented turnkey UV-DTF package.

3. Roland VersaSTUDIO BD-8 — best premium compact system

Published details: Roland lists a 5.8 × 8.3-inch print area, 4-inch head height, CMYK plus white and either primer or gloss configurations, and a $10,995 U.S. MSRP. It is a UV flatbed that Roland documents for UV-DTF use, not a dedicated roll-to-roll UV-DTF press.

The main reason to pay more is the branded dealer and service ecosystem, plus the ability to print directly on suitable products as well as make transfers. UV-DTF sheets, transfer film and ink are separate system costs. Roland’s page lists 25 A sheets at $90.99 and an 82-foot B-film roll at $63.99; those figures do not include ink, labor, waste or failed applications.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Buy it if: compact professional support and a multi-purpose flatbed matter more than the lowest price. Avoid it if: you need A3-sized transfers or maximum output per dollar.

4. Roland VersaSTUDIO BD-12 — best premium desktop choice for larger transfers

Published details: The BD-12 has an 8.3 × 12-inch print area, 4-inch head height and a $15,995 U.S. MSRP. It shares the BD series’ UV-DTF-compatible workflow and direct-print capability.

Rank #3
DXZ A3 UV DTF Printer All-in-One with Laminator, Dual XP600 Print Heads, White Ink Stirring, for Glass, Metal, Wood, Tumblers, Phone Cases
  • 【2-in-1 UV DTF Printer & Laminator for Custom Sticker Business】 DXZ A3 UV DTF printer combines printing and laminating in one compact machine, allowing you to create ready-to-use UV DTF stickers without a separate laminator. Print on A Film, laminate with B Film, then peel and apply—perfect for small businesses, custom sticker shops, Etsy sellers, and DIY creators looking to expand their product offerings.
  • 【Dual XP600 Print Heads for High-Speed UV Sticker Production】 Featuring dual XP600 print heads and a 12-channel CMYKWV color system, this UV DTF printer delivers vibrant colors, fine details, and efficient output for daily production. Ideal for making custom decals, logo stickers, labels, and personalized designs for commercial orders, product packaging, and promotional projects.
  • 【Create Personalized Stickers for Tumblers, Phone Cases & More】 Make premium UV DTF decals for a wide range of surfaces, including tumblers, glass cups, phone cases, acrylic signs, metal products, wood crafts, leather items, plastic accessories, and more. Perfect for personalized gifts, small businesses, branding, home decoration, and custom merchandise.
  • 【White Ink Stirring & Auto Cleaning for Reliable Printing】 The continuous white ink stirring system helps maintain consistent ink flow, while automatic cleaning functions reduce nozzle clogging and improve print stability. Spend less time on maintenance and enjoy smoother production for custom sticker orders.
  • 【Compact All-in-One Design with Easy Operation】 Designed for creators, entrepreneurs, and professional print shops, this space-saving UV DTF sticker printer fits easily into small workspaces. Compatible with RIP software and simple operation makes it suitable for beginners starting a custom printing business and professionals handling high-volume projects.

The larger bed can batch several small designs or produce bigger graphics than the BD-8. It remains a manually loaded desktop flatbed, however, and the additional capacity costs $5,000 more at the listed MSRP. Calculate expected monthly transfer volume before assuming the extra area will pay back.

Buy it if: you need larger desktop transfers and value Roland’s ecosystem. Avoid it if: your orders are occasional or a dedicated roll-to-roll workflow is your real requirement.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

5. Mimaki UJV300DTF-75 — best production-growth pick

Published details: Mimaki describes this as its first UV-DTF printer. It is roll-to-roll, accepts media up to 650 mm (25.6 inches), and the U.S. specification sheet lists 3.2 m²/h in the stated configuration. A Mimaki dealer document shows a $29,995 MSRP signal; obtain a current quote because that document is dated and promotional.

The machine is designed for recurring transfer production and wholesale work, with substantially more width than desktop units. Mimaki’s product material discusses accurate film feeding and small detailed graphics, but manufacturer material does not establish your actual uptime, maintenance hours or failure rate.

Buy it if: you have predictable recurring volume, room for commercial equipment and a dealer able to install and service it. Avoid it if: you are testing an Etsy idea, operate from a constrained room or cannot justify a roughly $30,000 capital signal before consumables and service.

How to choose for your business

1. Start with the product and substrate

UV-DTF is most useful when the final item is hard, curved, irregular, oversized or awkward to fixture. For flat acrylic, wood, metal plates or rigid sheets, direct UV printing may eliminate a transfer step. Test every coating, texture, radius and low-surface-energy plastic; a generic compatibility list cannot predict adhesion on your exact product.

Rank #4
INKSONIC VF13 A3+ All-in-One UV DTF Printer with Dual XP600 Printheads
  • ✅[All-in-One UV DTF Sticker Printer] The InkSonic VF13 integrates UV DTF printing, automatic laminating, and cutting support in one compact system, reducing separate equipment, manual steps, and workspace needs. Ideal for small shops, custom gift makers, and UV DTF sticker production.
  • ✅[A3+ Batch Printing for Custom Orders] The A3+ print area supports larger designs or multiple UV DTF stickers in one run, making it easier to handle daily orders, small-batch production, logos, labels, decals, and personalized crystal stickers.
  • ✅[InkSonic Dual XP600 Printhead System] Equipped with dual XP600 printheads for stable color output and rich white ink coverage, helping designs stay bright and clear after transfer. The dense white underbase helps reduce the impact of the material’s base color, especially on dark, colored, or transparent surfaces.
  • ✅[Automatic Laminating for Smoother Workflow] Built-in automatic lamination helps keep the film aligned and reduces manual handling during UV DTF production. It simplifies the print-to-laminate process and improves consistency for repeat sticker jobs.
  • ✅[Stable Film Feeding & Printing Structure] A vacuum suction platform, damping shaft, drag chain protection, cutting platform, and eight-point support design help reduce film shifting, vibration, and print instability, supporting cleaner output during long or repeated printing tasks.

2. Match usable area to order pattern

  • V6: 6.7-inch A4-class listing for small graphics.
  • BD-8: 5.8 × 8.3 inches.
  • BD-12: 8.3 × 12 inches.
  • VF13 Pro: 13-inch A3+ listing.
  • UJV300DTF-75: up to 25.6-inch media width.

“A4,” “A3+” and “13-inch” are not standardized promises of identical usable area. Leave room for margins, film handling and registration.

3. Calculate complete ownership cost

  • Printer and shipping
  • UV ink, including white ink
  • A/B film or sheets and any laminator
  • RIP software and computer
  • Ventilation, workspace preparation and electrical work
  • Cleaning fluid, waste and routine maintenance
  • Replacement printheads, installation, training and service contracts
  • Labor, scrap and failed adhesion applications

Advertised print speed excludes loading, lamination, curing, cutting, application and downtime. Use expected finished transfers per month—not a headline speed—to compare economics.

4. Verify support before paying

  • Is technical support U.S.-based, and is an authorized dealer nearby?
  • What does the printhead warranty exclude?
  • How quickly can replacement heads and ink arrive?
  • Are installation, training and test prints included?
  • Can the seller demonstrate your intended film and substrate?

5. Plan maintenance and workspace

White ink generally demands circulation and regular cleaning. Ask for the exact idle-time procedure, automatic cleaning behavior and manual cleaning schedule. Verify electrical requirements, clearance, ventilation, UV-light precautions, ink handling and safe disposal of contaminated wipes. A compact chassis does not by itself make a machine suitable for an unventilated room.

Common failure points

Adhesion failure

Dust, oil, silicone coatings, powder coating, textured surfaces, incompatible film, insufficient pressure and incorrect curing can cause a transfer to release. Roland advises testing the application material: Roland’s substrate guidance. Keep a test log for each product before accepting customer orders.

White-ink clogging

Ink-circulation and anti-clog features are design claims, not proof of failure-free ownership. Ask what happens after several idle days, how often manual cleaning is required and what a replacement head costs.

Wrinkles, bubbles and registration errors

Film tension, dust between layers, poor lamination alignment and bubbles on application can create waste. Roll-to-roll equipment may improve consistency at volume; a flatbed can be easier to justify for short batches but usually involves more manual handling.

Curved products

A transfer that works on a gently curved bottle may fail on a tight-radius cup, deep recess, raised rim or textured surface. Require a sample on the actual geometry and coating.

Best Value
A3+ UV DTF Printer with DX7 Printhead, Auto Laminating for UV Stickers
  • DX7189 INDUSTRIAL PRINTHEAD – Equipped with a DX7189 industrial printhead engineered for stable, consistent output and sharp detail required for commercial transfer production.
  • AUTOMATED MAINTENANCE SUPPORT – Built with automatic roll-to-roll feeding, automated cleaning routines and white ink circulation to help maintain ink condition and reduce manual downtime.
  • ROLL-TO-ROLL PRODUCTION EFFICIENCY – Continuous transfer printing supports batch orders and small business production runs, improving workflow speed for daily operation.
  • UV DTF TRANSFER TECHNOLOGY – UV Direct to Film system enables durable, scratch-resistant transfers with vivid color performance suitable for hard-surface personalization projects.
  • APPLICATION FLEXIBILITY – Ideal for creating customized items such as cups, phone cases, promotional crafts and branded products made from various hard surfaces.

Should you buy a printer or outsource transfers?

Outsource first when monthly volume is low or uncertain, you need many transfer sizes, workspace is limited, or no one can perform daily maintenance. You give up some control over turnaround, color matching and minimum orders, but avoid printer capital, idle-time failures and service risk.

Buying becomes more defensible when you have repeat orders, stable substrates, enough labor for maintenance, and a clear calculation showing that expected in-house contribution margin covers ink, film, waste, labor, service and capital recovery. Ask Roland or Mimaki for a sample and current quote; for lower-cost equipment, obtain written warranty terms, replacement-head pricing and consumable availability before ordering.

Bottom line

The VF13 Pro is the leading value-oriented choice on the published specifications for a small shop that needs A3+-class capacity. The V6 is a low-cost way to validate small-format demand, but its UV-DTF completeness must be confirmed. Choose the Roland BD-8 for compact branded support, the BD-12 when the larger desktop area is economically justified, and the Mimaki UJV300DTF-75 only when recurring production volume supports a commercial roll-to-roll investment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are UV-DTF printers suitable for T-shirts?

Generally no. UV-DTF is designed for hard products; apparel DTF uses pigment ink, adhesive powder and heat. A system such as Roland’s BN-20D is an apparel DTF machine, not a UV-DTF printer.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can UV-DTF transfers be applied to tumblers?

Often, but results depend on the tumbler’s coating, curvature, cleanliness, film combination and application pressure. Test the exact product before selling it.

Do I need a laminator?

Many UV-DTF workflows join printed A film to adhesive B film, so a laminator may be required or strongly recommended. Confirm the machine’s supplied process and equipment list.

Can any UV printer make UV-DTF transfers?

No. Confirm compatible film, ink, RIP settings, white-ink or varnish layers and the manufacturer’s documented workflow. A generic UV flatbed is not automatically a UV-DTF system.

Is A4 large enough for a small business?

It can be sufficient for small labels and short runs, but the limited area restricts graphic size and batching. Compare your largest order and monthly volume with the usable—not nominal—area.
