Live giffgaff Samsung deals
The catalogue is dynamically loaded and the accessible listing does not provide a reliable, model-by-model price snapshot. Rather than repeat a stale or invented “latest deal”, check each product page on the day you buy. Record the exact date, storage, condition and checkout total.

Only call a listing a deal when the saving or value is demonstrated: compare the same model and storage, use a genuine “was/now” price if shown, or explain why the specification and warranty make the total cost attractive. A listing alone is not proof of a discount.

New Samsung phones: what you receive
A new handset is unused and carries giffgaff’s listed 24-month handset warranty. Samsung-specific periods in giffgaff’s warranty table are 24 months for the handset, 12 months for the battery and charger, and six months for included handsfree or earphones (warranty details). Whether a charger is supplied must be checked on the individual listing; do not assume one is in the box.
New phones are unlocked for UK networks. Delivery is free, with most mainland UK addresses offered next-business-day service, subject to the regional limits below.
The non-member SIM charge
An existing member can use an existing SIM, credit or plan. A non-member buying a new phone must add a non-refundable SIM plan costing at least £10 at checkout. That charge remains payable even if the SIM is never activated. Treat it as part of the handset’s price, not as an optional mobile tariff.
Refurbished Samsung phones: grades, testing and contents
giffgaff says refurbished phones are data-wiped, unlocked and put through a 30-point health check. They arrive in giffgaff-branded packaging with the phone, a charging/data cable and a SIM key where needed. A mains plug, manual and headphones are not included. Replacement batteries, screens or other components may be non-genuine Samsung parts, and buyers cannot request a device guaranteed to contain only original parts (refurbished-phone guide).

What each condition means
- Like New: no visible scratches on the screen or body.
- Excellent: the screen is pristine; light marks on the body may be present.
- Very Good: the screen is pristine; more visible body marks are possible.
- Good: greater wear and tear is expected, but the phone should function correctly.
Refurbished stock is limited and may disappear without a predictable replenishment date. A cheaper grade can therefore be excellent value, but only if you accept its cosmetic condition and the stated warranty.

Battery health: what “80% or better” really means
The refurbished Samsung catalogue advertises a minimum battery health of 80% (catalogue battery information). That is a floor, not a promise of a new battery or a typical capacity. Battery health also differs from everyday battery life: screen size, processor, 5G use, signal strength and software affect runtime.
For practical endurance, compare the battery capacity and efficiency of the actual models offered. A slightly older Galaxy with a larger battery may outlast a newer, smaller phone. If maximum remaining battery life matters more than price, choose new or a higher refurbished grade and inspect the handset’s battery information during the return period.

Refurbished cover includes software faults, internal component failures, battery issues and included accessories. It excludes broken screens, water damage, rooting and unauthorised software modification. The warranty belongs to the giffgaff member who ordered the phone and is not transferable; it is not accidental-damage insurance (full warranty terms). If a suitable replacement is unavailable, giffgaff may refund the original price instead.

Phone delivery is free. Most mainland UK addresses receive phones on the next business day; Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland can take up to four business days. Orders are not processed or delivered on weekends or bank/public holidays. New and refurbished phones can be returned within 21 days for any reason (shipping and returns policy).
Inspection checklist
- Confirm the exact model, storage and colour ordered.
- Match the IMEI on the phone with the packaging.
- Test cameras, speakers, microphone, charging port, fingerprint reader and buttons.
- Inspect screen uniformity and scratches, especially on a refurbished device.
- Check the displayed battery-health information where available.
- Test the supplied cable.
- Insert the intended UK SIM and confirm the phone is unlocked.
- Photograph the device’s condition immediately if it is refurbished.
- Keep the packaging until you are satisfied.
Can you pay monthly?
giffgaff advertises interest-free instalments through Klarna, subject to eligibility and terms (phone catalogue and finance information). Before accepting, record the total payable, any deposit, the number of instalments and whether the advertised monthly figure is genuinely interest-free. A low monthly amount can conceal a long repayment period and is especially difficult to assess on an older Samsung.

Buying outright generally does not require a credit check. A phone bought on a contract with a Klarna loan does involve a credit check (buying guidance). Finance is not automatically available to every applicant.

Include a charger if you do not already have a compatible one, plus a case and screen protector if needed. Do not subtract an assumed resale amount: obtain a live valuation first from giffgaff Recycle and compare it with other buyback or private-sale options.

Cheapest usable Samsung
Start with the lowest-priced Galaxy A-series model that meets your performance, camera and software-support needs. A low sticker price is not a bargain if the battery, storage or remaining support period is unsuitable.
Best refurbished value
Look for an Excellent or Very Good device with a substantial like-for-like saving and at least 18 months’ warranty. Confirm that the saving still exists after accessories and any finance or SIM charges.
Premium value
A previous-generation Galaxy S model can be compelling when it is materially cheaper than the current generation while retaining the camera, processor and support period you need.
Best new purchase
Choose new when the price gap is small, you want factory condition and original-component assurance, or you expect to keep the phone for several years.

Battery, camera and compact choices
For battery life, prioritise battery capacity, efficiency and the refurbished health threshold rather than model year alone. For photography, compare the actual camera hardware, including optical zoom where listed. For a compact phone, choose the smallest model that still meets your battery and camera requirements.
Students and children
A lower-cost refurbished A-series phone can work well when cosmetic wear is acceptable. Budget separately for a protective case and screen protector.
When to compare elsewhere
giffgaff is strongest when its unlocked price, warranty and delivery beat the all-in alternatives. Check the same model and storage on Samsung UK, Back Market UK and Currys on the same date. Compare total payable, condition, battery policy, parts disclosure, warranty and any trade-in promotion—not just a headline monthly figure. Samsung direct may offer manufacturer promotions and accessories; Back Market offers broad marketplace choice but seller policies vary; Currys may bundle a contract or promotion.
How to check a live giffgaff deal
- Open the new or refurbished Samsung catalogue.
- Filter to the exact Galaxy model, storage and condition.
- Write down the outright price, monthly total, warranty and battery statement.
- At checkout, check whether a SIM plan is mandatory for your account.
- Add any charger, case or screen-protector cost and record the delivery estimate.
- Compare the resulting first-year cost with Samsung, Back Market and Currys before paying.
Remember that “unlocked” refers to UK-network SIM use; it does not guarantee compatibility with every overseas network or international 5G band.
The Bottom Line
Choose refurbished when the saving is substantial and the grade, 80%-minimum battery statement and warranty meet your tolerance for wear and replacement parts. Choose new when the price gap is narrow or you need factory condition and the longest predictable battery life. In either case, judge the deal by the complete checkout cost on the day—not the catalogue headline.
