A March 2026 OMNIA contract pricebook lists an Axon Body 4 camera at $890.01 and a single-bay dock at $226.71, but an operational program also involves evidence software, storage and retention, subscriptions, mounts, support, training, connectivity, replacement devices and eventual refreshes. The same pricebook lists an Axon Body Camera Starter Plan at $77.50 per month, yet that figure is a specific contract-plan entry—not proof of an all-in price for every agency.
For budgeting, compare the five-year cost per equipped user, not the camera’s list price. Public-contract figures are eligibility- and contract-specific; a Michigan public-sector contract, for example, lists Body 4 hardware at $513.04 per camera, which is not a normal nationwide retail price.

What the camera price does—and does not—buy
Camera hardware
Axon markets Body 4 with a 160-degree field of view, a 5-megapixel sensor and a 4,300 mAh battery intended to last a full shift. Those are manufacturer specifications, not a guarantee under every connected-service workload. The product page is Axon Body 4.
Mounts and wearing configurations
MOLLE, Velcro, collar, epaulette, ball-cap, ballistic-helmet, POV and specialized mounts are separate line items in the pricebook. A Flex deployment can add the $296.01 module, $108.90 cable and additional clips or mounts. Specify the uniform and tactical configurations for every user before comparing quotes.
Charging and docking
Dock capacity is an operational calculation, not simply one dock per officer. Shared eight-bay stations may work for a shift-based operation; multiple facilities, patrol vehicles, spare cameras and simultaneous returns can require more capacity. The listed eight-bay dock averages about $197 per position before power, Ethernet, installation and spares.

Evidence software, storage and retention
Axon Evidence manages video, photos, documents, permissions, audit trails, review and sharing. Its overview is at Axon Evidence. Do not assume the $77.50 Starter Plan includes a particular retention period, storage allowance, reviewer accounts, integrations, redaction, transcription or AI. Those terms must appear in the proposal and contract.
Connectivity and real-time functions
Local recording is a different product proposition from cellular upload, live streaming, location alerts or two-way communication. Axon markets those connected capabilities with Respond+ and related services on the Body 4 page. Ask who supplies cellular service, what coverage is available, how data is billed and whether live functions are optional.

Eight-camera hardware cluster
Eight cameras cost $7,120.08; one eight-bay dock adds $1,579.05. The listed hardware subtotal is $8,699.13, or about $1,087 per camera position, before accessories, support, software and deployment.
Eight users on the listed Starter Plan
Eight subscriptions at $77.50 equal $620 per month, $7,440 per year and $37,200 over five years if the price never changes. The pricebook warns that annual bundle, warranty and license pricing may have a 4% year-over-year inflation escalator, so a real budget should model increases.

Five-year worksheet
Use this structure for any proposal:
- Capital: cameras, docks, mounts, power, cables and spare devices.
- Recurring: subscriptions, storage, retention, administrative and reviewer accounts, connectivity and optional features.
- Services: implementation, policy configuration, integrations, migration, training and certification.
- Risk: warranty, device pooling, loss or damage, battery and mount replacement, shipping and loaners.
- Exit: export, migration, post-termination access, legal holds and replacement integrations.
Divide the resulting five-year total by the number of equipped users to obtain a comparable cost per user.

Upfront purchase versus Technology Assurance Plan
Axon’s Technology Assurance Plan (TAP) uses recurring payments and states that participating body-worn cameras receive new devices every 30 months. Axon also states that on-site spare devices are provided for purchases of 33 or more devices.
When an upfront purchase can fit
- The agency already has compatible evidence storage or a short pilot.
- Users mainly record locally and do not need live services.
- The buyer can fund replacement inventory and support independently.
- A long-term vendor commitment is undesirable.
When TAP or another subscription can fit
- Predictable operating payments matter more than the lowest nominal total.
- Scheduled camera refreshes reduce obsolescence risk.
- The agency wants one provider for hardware, evidence software, support and replacement.
- Connected-camera or real-time services are part of the mission.
Compare total payments, refresh eligibility, accessory and dock treatment, renewal pricing, escalators, minimum quantities and termination obligations. A 30-month camera refresh does not establish that docks, mounts, integrations or every software feature are refreshed at the same time.
Costs commonly missed in an Axon quote
- Implementation and training: The pricebook contains separate starter, virtual-starter, full-service, implementation and technical-account-manager entries. One listed professional-services starter item is $9,900 and a virtual starter item is $2,475; these are contract signals, not universal charges.
- Policy and records work: Configure activation rules, retention, legal holds, redaction, public-records response and disclosure workflows.
- Staff accounts: Supervisors, records personnel, prosecutors, reviewers and administrators may need different licenses or permissions.
- Network and facilities: Docks need power, network connectivity, secure placement and adequate upload capacity.
- Replacement inventory: Budget for loss, damage, loaners, battery service, mounts, shipping and unavailable devices.
- Storage growth: Model recording hours per user, retention length, duplicate exports, litigation holds and redacted copies. Exact limits must come from the contract.
- Exit and migration: Confirm usable export formats, metadata, chain-of-custody records, deadlines, fees and post-termination access.
Public-contract pricing is not universal retail pricing
The OMNIA document can contain maximum prices, bundles, monthly entries and quote-required items. Eligibility, volume, participating addenda and bundled Axon products can change the result. Sourcewell lists Axon cameras, docks, Evidence, integrations and services at its cooperative contract page. NASPO ValuePoint describes body-worn video, storage, security, software and peripherals at its Axon supplier page; state participation depends on the applicable addendum.

How Axon compares with another enterprise subscription
Motorola advertises fixed three- or five-year body-camera subscription payments, support, warranty and free camera or battery refreshes on its body-camera subscription page. The page reviewed does not publish a universal dollar figure. Compare Motorola and Axon only with proposals covering the same camera count, storage, retention, integrations, support, refresh cycle, implementation and exit terms. An agency deeply invested in Axon Evidence or Axon integrations should include migration and retraining in any alternative’s cost.

Questions to answer before signing
Ask whether the quoted plan is tied to Axon Evidence, what happens to stored footage if the agency changes vendors, whether bundled TASER, Fleet, AI or officer-safety products are required for the price, and whether the agency can decline optional features without losing core pricing. For a small private-security company, confirm that Axon offers the required evidence-management plan, support and contract scale; public-agency terms may not be available.
