Memorial Day food offers in 2025 ranged from restaurant discounts to commissary prices for cookout staples. The strongest documented options included $10 off eligible Dickey’s barbecue packs, $5 off selected Chowking platters, and sale prices on ribs, fruit, soda and wings at military commissaries. Every offer below had a limited 2025 redemption window; none is presented as available now.

These are different kinds of savings: a restaurant discount depends on the qualifying order, while a grocery shelf price depends on what you buy and the local store’s price. There is no common basket or published comparison that makes a fair dollar-for-dollar ranking possible.
Restaurant deals for prepared food
Dickey’s Barbecue Pit: $10 off barbecue packs and boxes
Dickey’s advertised $10 off eligible Barbecue Packs and Big Yellow Boxes from May 23 through May 26, 2025. Customers could use code MEMORIAL10 in-store, online or in the app at participating locations. The Picnic Pack was excluded, so the discount did not apply to every pack. The company’s May 23 announcement also framed the holiday as a time to honor those who served and gather with loved ones; that is the company’s promotional message, not a measure of consumer behavior.
Chowking: $5 off selected platters
Chowking USA’s promotion ran May 26 through June 2, 2025, online and in-store at participating locations. The page listed three eligible bundles:
#1 Best Overall
- 10-piece fried chicken combo with small Pancit Canton, estimated to serve four to six.
- 6-piece chicken platter with rice, Buchi and sodas, estimated to serve two to three.
- 24-piece siomai platter with small Pancit Canton, estimated to serve four to six.
The $5 discount applied to selected platters, not necessarily every menu item. The Chowking promotions page is the source for the offer and serving estimates.

Commissary deals for a cookout
DeCA’s May 19, 2025 announcement covered its May 19–June 1 flyer and a separate “Thrill of the Grill” event scheduled to run May 19–July 27. The flyer included baby back pork ribs at $3.58 per pound and bottom round rump roast from $3.96 per pound during May 19–June 1. It also listed cantaloupe from $1.99 each and honeydew from $3.99 each.
- Soda: Three 12-packs for $12, May 22–26. This offer applied at stateside commissaries, including Alaska and Hawaii.
- Chicken wings: A Tyson Buffalo or Hot Chicken Wings 2.5-pound promotion, May 23–26, at stateside commissaries.
DeCA noted that prices could vary by store and supplies were limited. These are dated commissary offers, not a guarantee of the price at every store or a general grocery-market price. For a broader meal-planning example, DeCA described a whole smoked pork shoulder with baked beans, barbecue sauce, seasoning, macaroni, cheese, biscuits and ice cream bars as a spread for eight to ten people costing less than $50. That was the agency’s stated meal-plan estimate; KC Masterpiece Original barbecue sauce was a named ingredient, not a separately identified sale item. See the DeCA announcement for the terms.
Military and veteran eligibility: a Boston example
Basho at 1338 Boylston Street in Boston advertised 20% off food for active military members and veterans who showed proof of status. The Fenway event page gave the offer dates as May 25–27, 2025; those are the venue’s stated dates, even though they extend beyond the usual Memorial Day weekend dates used by other offers. The discount was local and eligibility-restricted, not a nationwide restaurant promotion. The Fenway listing is the source for its dates, location and proof-of-status condition.

How to assess a holiday food deal
For a personal-finance comparison, start with the qualifying order or grocery basket rather than the headline discount. A flat $10 off may be valuable on an eligible family pack, but its effective savings depend on the pack’s price and whether it suits the group. A per-pound meat price or multi-buy soda offer is useful only if the quantity and store match the household’s plan.
- Check the offer’s exact dates and whether the code or coupon is required.
- Confirm the item is eligible; exclusions such as Dickey’s Picnic Pack can change the value.
- Check participating-location, delivery-channel and membership restrictions before placing an order.
- For military-only offers, confirm what proof of status the venue accepts.
- Compare the total cost of the planned meal, not only the discount or advertised unit price.
The deals listed here are historical 2025 promotions. If planning for a future Memorial Day, confirm current dates and terms directly with the merchant or commissary; past codes, prices and eligibility rules do not establish that a new offer exists.
