There is no single best affordable skin care brand for everyone. The right pick depends on what you need—everyday basics, ingredient-focused serums, sunscreen, or a targeted treatment—and what is available at a price that works for you. This shopper-first shortlist compares 15 options without treating retailer selections or brand claims as clinical rankings.

How to choose an affordable skin care brand

Start with the routine you actually need, rather than buying a full range. Ulta recommends choosing products for your skin type and beginning with cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen; its guide also advises keeping the routine simple. That is a practical way to manage both spending and the number of new products you introduce. Ulta’s affordable skincare guide is a retailer selection, not an independent clinical ranking.

  • For basics: Look for a cleanser and moisturizer that fit your preferences, then consider whether the brand offers a sunscreen you will use.
  • For a specific concern: Check whether the range has a product category relevant to it, such as a BHA exfoliant or spot patches. A product listing alone does not establish that it will work for you.
  • For ingredient-led shopping: Compare the named ingredients and directions, not just the brand’s positioning or a product’s popularity.
  • For value: Compare the price, size, and frequency of use for the particular product in your market. Prices and formulas can vary by retailer, country, and date.

15 affordable skin care brands to consider

The following is an editorial shortlist drawn from products and brands included in Ulta’s affordable skincare guide. The entries describe useful starting points, not endorsements of every product in a brand’s range. Confirm local pricing, size, formula, and stock before buying.

1. The Ordinary

A useful option if you prefer ingredient-focused choices across cleansers, serums, and moisturizers. On its US site, accessed in 2026, The Ordinary listed Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% at $6 and Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA at $6.70. Those are brand-site prices for the listed products at access, not guarantees of current or local prices. The Ordinary’s regimen guide advises patch testing new products and avoiding unprotected sun exposure when using direct acids.

2. CeraVe

Consider it for straightforward cleansing and moisturizing options. Who What Wear UK’s 2026 article listed CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser at £8 and Facial Moisturising Lotion SPF50 at £11; these are UK editorial prices, not current US prices. On CeraVe’s US site, accessed in 2026, Brightening Vitamin C Lotion and Invisible Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50 were each listed at $16.99. The examples differ by market and product, so they should not be treated as a direct price comparison. Who What Wear UK’s affordable skincare picks and CeraVe US show the cited listings.

3. La Roche-Posay

Ulta includes La Roche-Posay among its affordable options and describes its range as offering gentle solutions for sensitive skin. That is retailer positioning, not a promise that every item is inexpensive or suitable for every person with sensitive skin. Review the individual product and its price before choosing it.

4. e.l.f. SKIN

Ulta identifies e.l.f. SKIN as a value-oriented skincare brand. It may be worth comparing when you are looking for a lower-cost entry point, but judge value by the specific product, size, and role in your routine rather than the brand label alone.

5. Good Molecules

Ulta characterizes Good Molecules as science-based and focused on clarity and hydration. Treat that as the retailer’s description of the range; it is not independent proof that a product will produce a particular result.

6. Bubble

Ulta’s guide includes a Bubble eye cream in its affordable skincare selection. Compare the eye product with your actual routine and budget before adding a separate step.

7. Naturium

Ulta lists Naturium eye cream and a BHA exfoliant among its affordable-category products. Those examples make it a brand to investigate if those are the product types you want; they do not establish that either is necessary for a basic routine.

8. BYOMA

Ulta includes named BYOMA products among its affordable skincare selections, including serum options. Check the current product listing and ingredients for the particular formula you are considering.

9. Peach Slices

Peach Slices appears in Ulta’s guide with named skincare products. Use the retailer listing to identify the product category, then decide whether it addresses a need you have rather than buying on the strength of placement alone.

10. RoC

Ulta’s affordable guide includes RoC products. Prices and suitability can differ across the brand’s range, so compare the exact item and directions rather than assuming the whole brand is uniformly low-cost.

11. Mad Hippie

Mad Hippie is included in Ulta’s product selections for affordable skincare. Check current price and size at the retailer you plan to use; the guide’s inclusion is not evidence of comparative clinical effectiveness.

12. ANUA

Ulta lists ANUA products in its affordable skincare categories. Look at the individual product’s purpose, ingredients, and current local price before deciding whether it belongs in your routine.

13. Hero Cosmetics

Ulta’s guide includes Hero Cosmetics products such as spot patches. This makes the brand a focused option to compare if you are shopping for that product type, rather than a substitute for cleanser, moisturizer, or sunscreen.

14. MEDIHEAL

MEDIHEAL appears in Ulta’s affordable selection with products including masks. Consider whether a mask is a useful purchase for you; it is an optional category, not a required first step in a simple routine.

15. Ulta Beauty Collection

Ulta includes products from its own collection in the affordable skincare guide, across categories such as serums and treatments. Since listings, prices, and available products are retailer-specific, check the current listing for the item you want.

Where The INKEY List fits

The INKEY List is another ingredient-oriented brand worth comparing, although it is not one of the 15 brands in Ulta’s shortlist above. Its bestseller page described a $7–$25 range and, when accessed in 2026, listed Hyaluronic Acid Serum at $10, Salicylic Acid Cleanser at $14, and Bio-Active Ceramide Moisturizer at $21.50. These are brand-listed prices at access, so verify them before purchase. The INKEY List bestsellers.

Build a budget-conscious routine without overbuying

  1. Choose the basics first. Identify one cleanser, one moisturizer, and a sunscreen that fits your routine and market. Ulta recommends starting with these categories rather than building an elaborate regimen.
  2. Add only a targeted product if you need one. Select a serum, exfoliant, or spot product for a specific purpose instead of stacking several new treatments at once.
  3. Check directions and introduce products carefully. The Ordinary recommends patch testing new products. Its regimen guidance also cautions against unprotected sun exposure when using direct acids.
  4. Recheck the actual cost. Compare product size and retailer price in your country; the US-dollar and UK-pound examples above reflect different markets and listings, not a standardized comparison.

What an affordable brand list can—and cannot—tell you

A retailer guide can help surface brands and product categories to compare, but it cannot establish that every item is inexpensive, suitable for your skin, or clinically more effective than alternatives. Retailer ratings and review counts are snapshots tied to individual products, not proof that a treatment works. Make the decision at product level: intended use, ingredients, directions, size, price, and whether it fills a genuine gap in your routine.
