Who is the richest chef in the world? In CEO Today’s June 7, 2025 ranking, it is Zhang Yong, with a published estimate of $5.8 billion. But the answer is not settled: Celebrity Net Worth’s list, consulted October 4, 2026, puts Kimbal Musk first at $1.7 billion. These are publishers’ estimates, not audited personal fortunes, and their lists do not use a disclosed common method or identical definition of “chef.”

Who are the 10 richest chefs in CEO Today’s 2025 ranking?

The table below reproduces CEO Today’s ranking published June 7, 2025. Every amount is that outlet’s estimate for the person listed; the placements and figures are not independently verified personal balance sheets.

Rank Name Published estimate
1 Zhang Yong $5.8 billion — CEO Today, 2025
2 Sam Prince $1.31 billion — CEO Today, 2025
3 Alan Wong $1.1 billion — CEO Today, 2025
4 Kimbal Musk $500 million — CEO Today, 2025
5 Gordon Ramsay $220 million — CEO Today, 2025
6 Jamie Oliver $200 million — CEO Today, 2025
7 Nobu Matsuhisa $200 million — CEO Today, 2025
8 Wolfgang Puck $120 million — CEO Today, 2025
9 Rachael Ray $100 million — CEO Today, 2025
10 Guy Fieri $100 million — CEO Today, 2025

CEO Today’s 2025 list uses “chef” broadly enough to include restaurant founders and food entrepreneurs as well as familiar television chefs. That matters especially near the top: a person’s presence in a chef ranking does not necessarily mean the estimate comes from earnings as a working kitchen chef.

Why do rankings disagree about the richest chef?

Celebrity Net Worth’s current online top-50 list, consulted October 4, 2026, ranks Kimbal Musk first at $1.7 billion. It places Gordon Ramsay second at $220 million, Jamie Oliver third at $200 million, Nobu Matsuhisa fourth at $200 million, Guy Fieri fifth at $130 million, Wolfgang Puck sixth at $120 million, Rachael Ray seventh at $100 million, Emeril Lagasse eighth at $70 million, and Ina Garten and Bobby Flay next at $60 million each. Celebrity Net Worth describes Garten’s estimate as combined with her husband’s.

The contrast with CEO Today’s 2025 order is substantial: CEO Today puts Zhang Yong first at $5.8 billion, Sam Prince second at $1.31 billion, and Alan Wong third at $1.1 billion, while Celebrity Net Worth’s list does not place those names among the leaders shown above. The outlets do not provide a consistent valuation method that would let a reader reconcile these numbers into one definitive league table. Their criteria also appear to encompass different kinds of culinary entrepreneurs and media personalities.

Celebrity Net Worth’s top-50 list is a separate publisher’s estimate, not an audited correction to CEO Today’s ranking. A previous Celebrity Net Worth article ranked Jamie Oliver first at $200 million and Gordon Ramsay second at $120 million, illustrating that both estimates and positions can change over time; it is historical, not a current list. The older article should be read in that context.

How much is Gordon Ramsay worth?

There is no single verified figure established by these sources. CEO Today’s June 2025 list estimates Ramsay’s fortune at $220 million, and Celebrity Net Worth’s list consulted October 4, 2026 also estimates $220 million. Agreement between two publishers does not make the amount an audited personal balance sheet, and the consulted pages do not disclose a shared valuation method.

How do chefs make their money?

For high-profile culinary names, wealth can be associated with work and businesses beyond cooking in a restaurant. The cited publishers describe several possible income pathways, but do not quantify how much any one line contributes to an individual’s personal fortune.

  • Restaurants and hospitality: restaurant ownership, restaurant groups, and hospitality partnerships can extend a chef’s business beyond a single kitchen.
  • Television and media: hosting, appearances, and other media work can generate income and build an audience for other ventures.
  • Books and products: cookbooks, endorsements, branded kitchenware, licensing, and food products are among the activities identified in the lists.

For example, Celebrity Net Worth attributes Jamie Oliver’s wealth to television shows, cookbooks, restaurants, and endorsements; CEO Today also points to books, television, and kitchenware. CEO Today describes Wolfgang Puck’s business activity as including restaurants, cookbooks, frozen foods, and catering, and Rachael Ray’s as including television, books, cookware, and product lines. These descriptions indicate business channels, not a verified breakdown of their fortunes.

How to read a chef net-worth ranking

Net-worth lists are best treated as attributed estimates rather than precise comparisons. A headline number can combine a publisher’s assumptions about assets, business interests, and liabilities, but the cited pages do not disclose a consistent method or provide audited personal net-worth data.

  • Check the date: an older estimate may not reflect the publisher’s current figure or rank.
  • Check who counts as a chef: a list may include working chefs, restaurateurs, food entrepreneurs, or television personalities under one label.
  • Keep each outlet’s figures separate: do not mix numbers from different publishers into a single ranking as if they were measured the same way.
  • Look for individual versus household estimates: Celebrity Net Worth notes that Ina Garten’s figure is combined with her husband’s, unlike an individual estimate.

CEO Today’s June 7, 2025 ranking and Celebrity Net Worth’s page consulted October 4, 2026 answer the popular question in different ways. Neither source establishes a definitive, consistently measured global ranking of chefs’ personal fortunes.
