These were targeted migration invitations, not standard TELUS plans available to every Koodo subscriber. MobileSyrup reported on November 15, 2024 that selected Koodo customers received emails offering either $60 per month for 150GB or $65 per month for 200GB. The higher-priced offer reportedly included use in Canada, the United States, Mexico and covered Caribbean destinations. As of 2026, treat the story as a historical Black Friday lead-up campaign: only a current, customer-specific TELUS invitation confirms that either offer can still be activated.
What the two TELUS migration offers included
The exact terms below came from a promotional email seen by MobileSyrup. They should not be treated as a universally published TELUS rate card.

Both offers reportedly included unlimited data after the high-speed allowance, but at reduced speeds. “Unlimited” therefore does not mean unlimited full-speed service. TELUS documentation describes the same general distinction between high-speed data and unlimited reduced-speed data, while warning that public documents do not establish every term of a targeted promotion: TELUS plan documentation.
Who was eligible?
MobileSyrup said the invitations went to selected Koodo subscribers by email. Activation required a promotional code linked to the customer’s 10-digit Koodo number, with online and in-store activation reportedly available. There is no evidence that every Koodo customer qualified. A store or call-centre representative may not be able to reproduce the offer without the unique code and migration channel.

Check the original email, its expiry date and any account conditions. Koodo’s service terms identify its mobility business as a registered business name of TELUS Communications Inc., but that corporate relationship does not make a targeted TELUS price automatic for all Koodo lines: Koodo service terms.
What “unlimited” and 5G+ mean in practice
High-speed bucket first
The reported $60 plan supplied 150GB at speeds advertised up to 2Gbps, followed by unlimited data at a lower speed. The $65 plan supplied a 200GB high-speed allowance. “Up to” is a network capability, not a guaranteed result; location, device, congestion and signal affect actual performance.

Verify hotspot and sharing rules
The email details reported publicly do not settle whether tethering remains available after throttling, whether data can be shared across lines, or what the reduced speed is. Ask TELUS for those terms in writing before accepting, particularly if the line supports work, video or frequent hotspot use.
Why the $65 plan’s roaming matters
The main reason to choose the $65 offer over the $60 offer is not merely another 50GB. MobileSyrup reported included use in Canada, the United States, Mexico and Caribbean destinations. The phrase “Caribbean” is not a complete country list, so request the covered territories.

- WHO SHOULD GET IT: Anyone who hates their phone bill
- Confirm that talk, text and data are all included while travelling.
- Ask whether calls or texts from Canada to foreign numbers are included; travel roaming and international calling are different benefits.
- Check fair-use rules, speed limits and hotspot treatment.
- Verify whether the benefit is intended for temporary travel or permits extended use outside Canada.
How the offers compared with regular TELUS pricing in 2024
In its November 15, 2024 report, MobileSyrup compared the targeted prices with a $65 TELUS plan offering 100GB. It also reported that a 200GB Canada/U.S./Mexico plan then cost $105 per month and did not include Caribbean roaming. Those were comparisons at that date, not current 2026 pricing. TELUS and Koodo plan structures have changed; check current official pages before relying on an old comparison: TELUS mobility, Koodo rate plans and Koodo Black Friday promotions.
The Pixel 9 warning: a plan deal is not automatically a phone deal
The same email reportedly offered a Pixel 9 for $0 down and $5.20 per month through TELUS Bring-It-Back. MobileSyrup considered that inferior to a TELUS website promotion then showing the phone at $0 down and $0 per month with Bring-It-Back. Device financing can have separate eligibility, return and end-of-term obligations, so evaluate the handset offer independently from the service plan. Do not assume those 2024 figures remain available.

Is switching from Koodo worthwhile?
Compare your total bill and actual use, not the headline data number. MobileSyrup’s author noted that a customer paying $49 for 75GB and using little of it might gain nothing from paying more. Use these tests:
The $60 plan is most compelling when
- You regularly need substantially more Canadian data than your current allowance.
- The price is close to your present bill and you value TELUS 5G+ access.
- You do not need extensive international roaming.
The $65 plan is most compelling when
- You frequently travel between Canada and the United States.
- You visit Mexico or covered Caribbean destinations and would otherwise buy roaming passes.
- You use large amounts of data or hotspot service, subject to the invitation’s tethering terms.
Reject or defer either offer when
- Your current Koodo plan is cheaper and comfortably meets your usage.
- A lower-cost Koodo, Public Mobile, Freedom, Fido, Virgin Plus or regional plan covers your needs.
- The quoted price depends on a temporary credit, autopay condition or device commitment you do not want.
- Paying out a Koodo Tab or financing balance would erase the monthly savings.
- You rarely travel and would not use the roaming inclusion.
- Reduced speeds after the high-speed bucket would disrupt video, work or hotspot use.
Accept now, wait for Black Friday, or check first?
Accept immediately
Accept when the invitation is valid in writing, the price duration is clear, you need the roaming coverage now and your existing plan is materially worse. Treat any device promotion as a separate decision.

Wait for Black Friday
Waiting is sensible if your current plan works, the targeted price is not clearly permanent, or you want a phone, gift card, fee waiver or lower monthly rate. Black Friday may improve the deal, but the targeted invitation or device inventory could also expire.
Check and negotiate first
- Log in to Koodo Self Serve and record your plan, credits, add-ons and Tab balance.
- Read every page of the TELUS invitation, including expiry and payment conditions.
- Ask TELUS to confirm the monthly price, how long it lasts, roaming destinations, speed policy, hotspot rules and all one-time fees.
- Request those terms in writing and verify whether taxes, activation or connection charges apply.
- Confirm whether your number is migrated internally or processed as a conventional port.
- Ask whether any existing device financing must be paid out before activation.
A short script for TELUS
“I have a targeted Koodo migration code. Please confirm in writing the recurring monthly price, its duration, autopay or credit conditions, taxes and one-time fees; the high-speed allowance and reduced speed; hotspot and data-sharing rules; every included roaming country and whether talk, text and data are covered; the device-financing obligations; and whether my existing number and Koodo Tab transfer without a payout.”
Other carriers to compare
Before committing, check official offers from Freedom Mobile, Fido, Virgin Plus, Public Mobile, Rogers and Bell. Their August 2026 prices should be verified at the time you switch rather than inferred from a 2024 story.
The Bottom Line
The reported $60/150GB and $65/200GB plans were unusually strong targeted offers for selected Koodo customers, especially heavy-data users and international travellers. They were not universal or automatically current. Accept only after confirming the invitation’s price duration, roaming list, throttling, fees and device obligations; otherwise, a cheaper Koodo plan or a Black Friday comparison may be the better financial choice.
