It put the estimated monthly prices at $85 and $95, respectively, and said the change was expected on March 6, 2025. Those details were reported from internal documentation, not confirmed in a public T-Mobile announcement. T-Mobile materials now describe Go5G Plus and Go5G Next as older or legacy plans, so the reported prices should not be treated as a current offer without confirmation from T-Mobile.
What T-Mobile reportedly planned
On February 27, 2025, Droid Life reported that internal T-Mobile documentation pointed to discounted one-line versions of two postpaid plans: Go5G Plus and Go5G Next. The reported reduction was $5 per month from the usual single-line price. The article estimated that would put Go5G Plus at $85 a month and Go5G Next at $95 a month. Droid Life’s report did not include a complete official rate card or plan terms.
| Plan | Reported single-line price | What the figure establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Go5G Plus | $85 per month | Reported estimate, not an independently confirmed current rate |
| Go5G Next | $95 per month | Reported estimate, not an independently confirmed current rate |
The report described each figure as $5 below the ordinary single-line price. It did not establish the complete treatment of AutoPay, taxes, fees, eligibility, price guarantees, or whether every plan feature would remain unchanged. Treat the figures as reported estimates, not an all-in bill quote.
Why a single-line discount matters
Wireless family plans commonly lower the average price per line as customers add lines. A person with one voice line cannot benefit from that multi-line pricing, even if they want the same premium postpaid features. The reported proposal would have narrowed that gap without requiring a customer to pay for an unnecessary second line.

A $5 monthly reduction equals $60 over 12 months before taxes and fees. That is a real saving for someone already choosing a premium plan, but it does not by itself make a premium plan inexpensive or establish that it beats a lower-cost prepaid option.
Who the reported offer could suit
If T-Mobile confirms that a discounted version is available for a particular account, it could be relevant to a one-line customer who values premium postpaid service, device financing, roaming or other plan benefits and would otherwise pay the standard single-line rate. It could also help someone avoid adding a line solely to lower the average cost per line.

The discount is less compelling if the customer does not use premium features. A basic plan, prepaid carrier or mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) may cost less, though data priority, hotspot allowances, roaming, device financing and support can differ. For example, a June 2026 DealNews listing showed Metro offers at $25 per month after the first month and a six-month prepaid offer with a $20 monthly equivalent when paid upfront. Those were dated promotional offers, not guaranteed ongoing rates. Check the DealNews listing and Metro’s current plan page for terms and availability.
Mint Mobile is another prepaid option on T-Mobile’s network; its lower effective prices can require paying for multiple months in advance. Check Mint’s plan page for current terms rather than assuming a promotion will continue. MVNO options such as Red Pocket can also be cheaper for some light or moderate data users, but plans differ in data and hotspot access. A comparison published by WhistleOut showed Red Pocket examples around $20–$30 a month; see its comparison for the examples and qualifications.

Customers aged 55 or older may qualify for separate T-Mobile 55+ plans. WhistleOut’s June 17, 2026 update listed one-line prices of $45 for Essentials Choice 55, $70 for Experience More with 55+ savings, and $85 for Experience Beyond with 55+ savings. Those displayed prices included AutoPay and excluded taxes and fees; they are distinct from the reported Go5G discount and should be checked against T-Mobile’s current eligibility and pricing. Expected launch and existing customers
The February 2025 article said the options were expected to become available March 6, 2025, for both new and existing customers. That was a reported target date, not proof of a public launch. It also said an existing customer would need to call T-Mobile to request a change; accounts would not be moved automatically. The report did not establish the exact plan code, qualification rules, effective billing date or customer-service process.

What T-Mobile’s current plan information tells you
T-Mobile materials available through August 18, 2026 describe Go5G Plus and Go5G Next as older or legacy plans and use newer Experience branding in current plan and promotional material. That does not establish whether the specific discounted one-line versions launched, remain available to existing customers, or can be newly purchased. See T-Mobile’s plan information, current plan references and promotional terms. For account-specific status, use your T-Mobile account or contact T-Mobile directly.

Do not change service based only on the reported $85 or $95 figure. Ask T-Mobile whether a single-line Go5G Plus or Go5G Next rate discounted by $5 is available for your account, and confirm the terms in writing or in the account’s plan-change confirmation. Check these details before accepting:
Best Value
- Connectivity technology: Wireless
- Display size: 6.82 inches
- Memory storage capacity: 128.0 GB
- Operating system: Android
- Wireless provider: t_mobile
- Full monthly cost: Confirm the service price with and without AutoPay, plus taxes and fees. Ask whether the quote includes all lines or connected devices on the account.
- Plan eligibility: Ask whether the rate applies to your consumer, business, senior, military or other account type. A voice line plus a tablet, watch or mobile-internet line may not count as a one-line account under the carrier’s rules.
- Features: Compare premium data, hotspot allowance and speed, video streaming, Canada and Mexico use, international roaming, in-flight connectivity and included perks against your current plan.
- Promotions and grandfathered benefits: Ask whether changing plans would affect device bill credits, trade-in eligibility, streaming or international benefits, or a price guarantee. T-Mobile’s promotional terms warn that bill credits can stop in some circumstances, including account cancellation or early device payoff; those rules are separate from the reported plan discount and may depend on the promotion.
- Timing: Confirm the effective date and ask whether the change could create prorated charges or a higher-than-expected bill.
- Network fit and alternatives: Check service where you live, work and travel, then compare the full bill with prepaid and MVNO plans before committing.
Special discounts may change the calculation: military, first-responder, employer and senior offers can have separate eligibility rules or may not combine with other rates. Do not assume that a reported standard-plan discount stacks with them. If a representative cannot identify the exact offer or explain its effect on your existing benefits, postpone the change until T-Mobile provides a clear account-specific answer.
Bottom line for a one-line customer
The 2025 report described a potentially useful $5 monthly break for a single customer who wanted Go5G Plus or Go5G Next, but it did not verify a permanent public offer. With those plans now labeled older or legacy in T-Mobile materials, the practical decision is whether T-Mobile can confirm the exact rate and preserve the features or promotions you value. If you mainly want the lowest bill, compare prepaid and MVNO service rather than paying for premium postpaid features you will not use.
