Short answer: T-Mobile really did advertise a way to get a Galaxy Z Flip7 with up to $1,100 in bill credits, potentially covering the 256GB model without surrendering an old phone. But it was not an instant free phone, and it should not be treated as a current nationwide offer on August 18, 2026. The archived promotion ended August 13, 2025, while T-Mobile’s current deals page features newer devices.
The launch announcement described an add-a-line route without a trade-in, but the archived terms for promotion ID250427 describe a trade-in requirement for the listed $1,100 offer. That conflict matters: your account’s current written offer and checkout terms control.
What T-Mobile advertised
In its 2025 Galaxy Z Flip7 launch announcement, T-Mobile advertised up to $1,100 off a Galaxy Z Flip7 or Z Fold7. The described no-trade-in path required buying the phone on a qualifying equipment-installment plan, adding a new service line, and using an eligible plan. The discount arrived as 24 monthly bill credits, rather than as an immediate reduction at checkout.
The announcement named Experience More, Experience Beyond, Experience More for Business and Experience Beyond for Business for the maximum launch offer. It also described a separate offer of up to $600 off a Galaxy Z-series phone when adding a line on most plans. Read the original announcement at T-Mobile’s launch announcement.
Because promotions can differ by account, credit approval, plan and date, “T-Mobile advertised” is more accurate than saying every customer qualified.
Why the 256GB model could net to $0
Samsung’s U.S. MSRP list effective March 2026 shows these prices:
| Model | MSRP | Effect of a maximum $1,100 credit |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Z Flip7 256GB | $1,099.99 | Device price could be fully offset over 24 months |
| Galaxy Z Flip7 512GB | $1,219.99 | At least $119.99 remains before taxes and fees |
Source: Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP list. The launch announcement also mentioned a temporary 512GB-for-256GB preorder upgrade; that was a launch-period benefit, not a permanent entitlement.
What “free” means in the billing
On a $1,099.99 phone, the installment is approximately $45.83 per month for 24 months. The archived terms list promotional credits of up to $45.84 per month for 24 months, which can reduce the net device installments to approximately zero if every credit is received.
- This is free after bill credits, not necessarily free at checkout.
- Sales tax is generally calculated on the full pre-credit device price.
- T-Mobile’s terms list a $35 device connection charge.
- You still pay for the added line and any required premium plan.
The launch announcement specifically says the offer uses 24 monthly credits and that tax is due. See the announcement and archived promotion terms.

The important trade-in contradiction
The launch announcement’s wording presented an add-a-line route without a trade-in. However, T-Mobile’s archived promotion page identifies the relevant Flip7 promotion as ID250427, lists an August 13, 2025 end date, and describes a trade-in requirement for that $1,100 promotion.
Those descriptions cannot safely be collapsed into one universal rule. They may reflect different offer versions, channels or eligibility paths. Before accepting any replacement offer, check whether the written terms say add a line, port in or trade-in required. Save the exact promotion ID and terms shown in T-Life or checkout.
Is the Flip7 deal still available on August 18, 2026?
The archived offer’s listed end date was August 13, 2025. As of August 18, 2026, T-Mobile’s live deals page promotes newer devices, including the Galaxy Z Flip8, rather than presenting the original Flip7 launch promotion as an active public deal. T-Mobile also says its promotions are limited-time and subject to change.

Who could qualify under the launch structure?
The launch structure generally required all of the following, subject to the specific written terms:
- A qualifying equipment-installment purchase of the phone.
- A newly added service line.
- An eligible T-Mobile plan, such as the named Experience plans for the maximum launch credit.
- Qualifying credit and sufficient financing capacity.
- An account and promotional line kept active and in good standing during the 24-month credit period.
The announcement included existing customers on named plans, but it did not establish that every T-Mobile subscriber qualified. Its add-a-line wording also did not prove that every new customer received the maximum credit. Archived terms and account-specific eligibility determine the result.
Lines that may cause problems
Free, BOGO, discounted or recently cancelled lines can have restrictions. T-Mobile says some free-line promotions cannot be combined with device promotions that use monthly credits, and some offers require a recently cancelled line to be reactivated. Ask T-Mobile whether the selected line is eligible before placing the order.
The 24-month commitment is part of the price
T-Mobile says promotional credits can take up to two full billing cycles to begin. Credits may stop if you cancel the promotional line or account, change plans in a way that breaks the terms, or pay off the device early. The remaining device-finance balance may then become due.
That is not a traditional early-termination fee, but it creates a practical 24-month commitment. Contact T-Mobile before cancelling service, transferring or upgrading the line, changing plans, or paying off the phone. Guidance is available at T-Mobile’s promotional-credit support page.

For example, a customer who already has a suitable plan and genuinely needs another line may find the device credits useful. Someone who upgrades to a substantially more expensive plan solely to obtain the phone can spend more on service than the handset costs. Include the $35 connection charge, tax on the pre-credit price, any 512GB difference and every line charge in your comparison.

- Open the offer in T-Life or the T-Mobile checkout flow.
- Confirm the exact storage tier and installment amount.
- Read whether the offer requires adding a line, porting in, or trading in a device.
- Verify the eligible rate-plan name and whether your account is eligible.
- Screenshot the promotion ID, credit amount, expiration date and full terms.
- Confirm sales tax on the full device price and the $35 connection charge.
- Ask whether a free, BOGO, discounted or recently cancelled line blocks the credits.
- Check your first two full billing cycles for the promotional credit.
- If credits are missing after two full cycles, contact T-Mobile with the order confirmation and screenshot.
- Contact T-Mobile before any payoff, plan change, line transfer or cancellation.
When the deal makes sense—and when it does not
It may make sense if you:
- Already have the qualifying plan.
- Actually need an additional line.
- Can keep the account and line active for 24 months.
- Want the 256GB model and the offer is present in your account.
- Would keep T-Mobile service even without the phone promotion.
It is probably a poor fit if you:
- Would pay substantially more for a plan just to obtain the handset.
- Do not need another line.
- Expect to leave T-Mobile or pay off the phone soon.
- Have a free or discounted line that is ineligible for device credits.
- Want the 512GB model without paying its price difference.
- Are relying on the 2025 headline instead of current written terms.
The Bottom Line
T-Mobile’s Galaxy Z Flip7 launch promotion was real, and its advertised $1,100 maximum could offset the 256GB phone over 24 months. But “free” meant financed first and reimbursed through monthly credits, with taxes, a $35 connection charge and service costs still payable. The archived promotion ended August 13, 2025, and its terms conflict with the launch announcement over trade-in requirements. On August 18, 2026, treat it as historical unless the offer appears with current terms in your T-Life account or checkout.
