Yes, T-Mobile really did offer a free 50-inch Samsung 4K UHD Smart TV with certain Galaxy phone purchases—but only during a holiday promotion that began November 30, 2018. Customers had to buy an eligible Samsung phone on T-Mobile’s Equipment Installment Plan, add qualifying voice service, and redeem by December 31, 2018. The offer is expired and cannot be claimed today.
What the 2018 promotion included
T-Mobile announced the promotion on November 28, 2018, describing a Samsung 50-inch 4K UHD Smart TV reward for customers who purchased a qualifying Samsung flagship smartphone. The phone had to be financed through T-Mobile’s interest-free Equipment Installment Plan, and the customer had to add qualifying voice service on a T-Mobile ONE plan (including T-Mobile ONE Military). See the original T-Mobile announcement.
“Free” referred to the advertised television reward, not to every cost of getting the phone and service. Credit qualification, taxes, device installments, wireless-service charges and the required line additions still applied. The announcement also said the offer was subject to limitations and limited quantities.
Which Samsung phones qualified?
The offer covered a specific list, not every Galaxy model:

No precise television model number, panel type, refresh rate, HDR specification or retail value was established in the announcement, so those details should not be inferred.
Service requirements differed by customer type
| Customer type | Required service action |
|---|---|
| Existing T-Mobile customer | Add one qualifying voice-service line to an eligible T-Mobile ONE plan. |
| New T-Mobile customer | Add two qualifying voice-service lines. |
In both cases, the eligible Galaxy phone had to be purchased on the Equipment Installment Plan. The line requirements came from the 2018 promotion and should not be treated as current T-Mobile enrollment rules.

How redemption worked
- Purchase an eligible Galaxy phone at a participating T-Mobile store and meet the financing and voice-line requirements.
- Receive a redemption code and instructions from the store.
- Register the code online. T-Mobile said the instructions could take about three days to arrive.
- Samsung fulfilled the television after the online registration was completed.
Available evidence describes this as a participating-store, first-come, first-served promotion rather than a generally available online checkout bundle. The redemption deadline was December 31, 2018.
Is the free-TV deal still available?
No. The stated deadline passed in 2018, and the qualifying phones and T-Mobile ONE plan terms are historical. Do not rely on an undated headline or an old deal page to make a purchase or open a line.

What T-Mobile offers instead in 2026
T-Mobile’s current Samsung promotions are structured as phone discounts delivered through monthly bill credits, not as the old television bundle. Current pages show examples of up to $900 in credits for certain new-line or trade-in offers and up to $1,100 in some “New Phone, Your Choice” or premium-plan promotions. These are separate offers, with device and plan eligibility changing by promotion.
Credits are generally spread over 24 months. Taxes on the pre-credit device price and a $35 device connection charge may apply. Depending on the promotion, credits can stop if the qualifying line is canceled, the account loses eligibility or the phone is paid off early; terms may also allow up to two billing cycles before credits appear. Check the live T-Mobile Samsung deals page, the promotional offer details and T-Mobile’s general offers page before ordering.

How to evaluate a current Samsung promotion
Before accepting a “free” or discounted Galaxy offer, verify these items in the written terms and checkout flow:
- Exact model and storage tier covered.
- Whether a new line, trade-in or specific rate plan is required.
- Credit qualification and any AutoPay condition.
- Device installment amount before credits, monthly credit amount and total credit period.
- Taxes, the device connection charge and any upfront payment.
- Maximum number of discounted devices and whether offers can be combined.
- When credits begin and what happens if you cancel service or pay off the phone early.
A bill-credit phone is not the same as an immediately free device: the discount usually depends on keeping the qualifying service and account active for the full credit period.

Don’t confuse it with later T-Mobile TV headlines
Some later T-Mobile promotions involved a 50-inch Amazon Fire TV tied to T-Mobile Home Internet. That is a different reward, service and time period from the 2018 Samsung-TV-and-Galaxy-phone promotion. Identify the television brand, qualifying service and dates before assuming two “free TV” headlines describe the same offer.
