The reported offer ran from June 18 through July 20, 2025. It provided up to $450 in separate benefits—a $200 Costco Shop Card and a $250 virtual Visa prepaid card—after a qualifying new line, device transaction, plan selection and, for the Visa portion, an eligible port-in.
Costco and T-Mobile have shown later offers with different reward splits and conditions. Treat any current $450 total as a new promotion, not proof that the 2025 offer remains available.
What the original $450 promotion included
The contemporaneous report described up to $450 in promotional value, not an immediate cash payment or automatic credit on a T-Mobile bill.

When was it available?
The reported promotional window was June 18, 2025, through July 20, 2025. That window has passed, so the original “upcoming” wording is now historical rather than a sign-up instruction.
Who qualified under the reported terms?
New line and qualifying device
The transaction centered on adding a new T-Mobile voice line and purchasing or financing a qualifying phone. A normal upgrade on an existing line was not enough by itself.
Plan requirement
The report identified T-Mobile’s Experience More or Experience Beyond plans as qualifying plans for that promotion. Plan names, prices and eligibility can change, so a current offer must be checked against its own terms.

Port-in for the full amount
The $250 Visa component was tied to porting an eligible number from another carrier. The contemporaneous carrier list included AT&T, Verizon, Claro, UScellular, Xfinity, Spectrum and Liberty Puerto Rico, subject to the applicable terms. Adding a line without an eligible port-in could leave a customer with the Costco benefit but not the switching-related Visa.

Existing subscribers could qualify if they added a line, activated a qualifying device, selected the required plan and met the port-in rules. “Existing customer eligible” did not mean that every ordinary device upgrade generated $450.
Why “upgrading” is misleading
The headline can sound like any T-Mobile customer could upgrade a phone and collect $450. The reported transaction was more specific:

- Add a new voice line.
- Obtain a qualifying device, generally through T-Mobile financing.
- Use the required plan.
- Port in an eligible number to earn the switching-related portion.
A customer who simply replaces a phone on an existing line should not assume that this promotion applies.
How the rewards were delivered
The two rewards followed different processes and were not necessarily delivered together.
- Indexed Costco terms say a Costco Digital Shop Card could take approximately 16 weeks after the transaction.
- The $250 virtual Visa could require a rebate submission and take approximately 14 weeks after submission.
- Depending on the applicable terms, the Visa could be restricted to T-Mobile or Costco use and could expire after six months.
- Account lines generally had to remain active and in good standing when the benefit was processed.
Save the sales receipt, order confirmation, promotion ID and any rebate-submission confirmation. Do not assume that an unsubmitted rebate will be paid automatically.

How many lines could receive the benefits?
The original report stated a maximum of up to 12 $200 Costco Shop Cards per account and up to four $250 Visa cards. The limits therefore did not scale identically: 12 qualifying lines did not necessarily produce 12 Visa rewards. Later Costco terms also use promotion-specific limits, so the current offer controls.
Could the incentive stack with a phone deal?
The 2025 report said the Costco incentive could stack with many T-Mobile phone promotions, including some free-flagship offers, but it also noted exceptions. Costco’s terms warn that certain promotions and discounts cannot be combined. Confirm stacking for the exact phone, plan, line, financing agreement and promotion before ordering; “may stack” is not a guarantee.

Review the live terms at Costco’s T-Mobile brand page, the indexed Costco showcase and Costco’s T-Mobile terms page. T-Mobile’s promotion information is also indexed at Magenta Pulse. These pages state that offers are limited-time, subject to change and dependent on plan, financing, port-in and account-standing requirements.
When the deal can make financial sense
Consider it only if you already need the additional line and phone, can keep the required plan and financing arrangement, and are willing to wait months for the rewards. Costco value is more practical if you already shop there or will use the Shop Card.
When it is usually a poor fit
- You would add a line solely to chase the advertised amount.
- The required premium plan costs substantially more than your current service.
- You would give up a grandfathered or discounted plan.
- You do not want a long device-financing commitment.
- You expect cash or an immediate bill credit.
- You cannot complete the eligible port-in or maintain account standing.
Use a net-value calculation
Net value = reward value − incremental plan cost − Costco membership cost − device and financing costs − taxes and fees.
For example, a nominal $450 reward does not equal $450 saved if a premium plan costs $35 more per month than your alternative for 24 months: that plan difference alone is $840, before membership, taxes or financing costs.

Checklist before signing up for any current offer
- Confirm the promotion’s exact start and end dates and save a copy of the terms.
- Verify that the chosen plan and phone qualify.
- Confirm the port-in carrier, number history and any recent-line-cancellation restriction. Current Costco terms reference possible restrictions for lines canceled within the previous 90 days.
- Ask which reward requires a rebate and note its deadline.
- Confirm whether the Costco and T-Mobile incentives stack with the device promotion.
- Record the order number, promotion ID, receipt and rebate confirmation.
- Keep required lines active and in good standing until all benefits and device credits are confirmed.
- Do not pay off the financed phone, cancel the line or change plans early without checking how those actions affect remaining credits.
Bottom line
The $450 Costco/T-Mobile promotion reported in June 2025 was legitimate but expired on July 20, 2025. It required a new line and qualifying device transaction, while the full amount also depended on an eligible port-in and separate reward procedures. A Costco page displaying a later $450 total may represent a different offer with different dates, reward splits and limits, so verify the live terms before switching, financing a phone or adding a line.
