The administrator anticipates a residual distribution later in 2026, but has not announced a date or individual payment amounts. You cannot file a new cash claim now. Whether you were eligible depends on whether T-Mobile identified your information as compromised in the 2021 breach—not simply on whether you had T-Mobile service.
Who is eligible for the T-Mobile settlement?
The court-approved class covers approximately 76.6 million U.S. residents whom T-Mobile identified as having information compromised in its 2021 data breach. That definition can include former customers, but being or having been a T-Mobile customer alone does not establish eligibility.
If you received a settlement notice, you are likely a class member. If you did not receive one or are unsure, the official settlement FAQ advises contacting the administrator, Kroll, to confirm. The settlement’s official website identifies itself as the only authorized website for the case.
Who was excluded?
The court-approved definition excludes certain T-Mobile insiders and representatives, the presiding judge and court staff, people who validly opted out, and certain people who had filed or served a related arbitration demand or petition—or given written notice of intent to arbitrate—by the preliminary approval date. If any of these situations may apply, ask Kroll about your status rather than trying to determine it from your customer history.

Are more T-Mobile settlement payments coming?
The settlement received final approval on June 29, 2023. The administrator reports that court proceedings and the initial distribution are complete, and that the deadline to request reissue of an initial payment has passed.
A residual distribution is anticipated later in 2026. The administrator has not published an exact date or an amount for any individual. The expectation of a residual distribution does not establish that every class member will receive another payment, or how much a particular person might receive.

Can you still file for cash compensation?
No. The deadline to submit a cash-benefit claim was January 23, 2023. The settlement’s original cash options are useful for understanding what the claims process offered, but they are not available as new claims now.
| Original cash option | Terms described in the settlement FAQ | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Reimbursement for qualifying out-of-pocket losses, including lost time | Up to $25,000, subject to the settlement’s requirements and documentation rules. | Claim deadline passed January 23, 2023. |
| Alternative cash payment | $25, increased to $100 for people residing in California on August 1, 2021. This option could not be combined with an out-of-pocket-loss or lost-time claim; payment levels could change based on claims. | Claim deadline passed January 23, 2023. |
For qualifying lost time, the original terms provided $25 per hour, or the claimant’s documented hourly wage when they took time off work. Time associated with qualifying out-of-pocket losses was capped at 15 hours; self-certified time without qualifying losses was capped at five hours. These were limits and rates for the expired claim process, not estimates of what any person received.

The official settlement FAQ describes a $350 million settlement fund. That figure does not determine an individual payment. The settlement terms and available public status information do not verify any particular person’s claim history or payment amount.
What benefits may still be available?
Class members may still be able to enroll in Identity Defense Services or use Restoration Services if they experienced identity theft or fraud. The administrator says these services may be available even to class members who did not submit a cash claim. Contact Kroll for current enrollment details and any terms that apply to your situation.

The settlement FAQ says identity monitoring may be available through January 20, 2028, subject to the settlement terms and possible extension. Check with the administrator for the service and enrollment details that apply to you.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to check your eligibility or payment status
- Start with the official settlement website. Use the website identified by the administrator as the authorized site for this case, rather than an unaffiliated claim-filing service.
- Contact Kroll, the court-approved administrator. The settlement site lists the phone number 1-833-512-2314 and additional contact methods.
- Give the administrator information to locate your record. If you have a settlement notice, provide its Class Member ID. If not, use the official contact form or call and follow Kroll’s instructions for providing identifying details.
- Ask specific questions. Request confirmation of class membership, any payment or distribution status associated with your record, and instructions for enrolling in any remaining services.
The administrator—not a general customer-service assumption or a third-party claim website—is the appropriate source for an individual eligibility or payment determination.
