No: Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 is no longer up for preorder. Nintendo lists October 2, 2025 as the release date for the physical Nintendo Switch bundle, which contains both games. Nintendo also announced individual digital purchases; availability and storefront details can vary by region.
What comes in the bundle?
Nintendo’s US product listing names the physical release Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 and says it includes both games. Check the Nintendo US product listing for current listing details. The bundle is a straightforward option if you want both titles together; Nintendo’s September 2025 announcement also said each game would be available individually as a digital purchase through Nintendo eShop. Check your regional eShop or retailer for current availability and pricing rather than assuming US terms apply elsewhere.
What’s new in the Switch versions?
Nintendo describes improved menus and interface, enhanced resolution, additional Storybook chapters, Assist Mode, and Soundtrack Mode. The September 19, 2025 Nintendo announcement also says players can use buttons and sticks or motion controls.
- Assist Mode: Nintendo says it provides additional health and recovery from falls, making it an option for beginners or players who want a more forgiving experience.
- Soundtrack Mode: Lets players listen to in-game music.
- amiibo support: Nintendo says select amiibo figures can provide helpful in-game items. The product listing does not say amiibo are included with the game.
How does resolution differ on Switch and Switch 2?
Nintendo’s US listing describes the games as running at 1080p on Nintendo Switch. On Nintendo Switch 2, a free update supports 4K when connected to a compatible display. The update is not described as a separate paid edition. See Nintendo’s US product page for the platform-specific feature details.

Should you buy the physical bundle or a digital copy?
Choose based on how you want to own the games: the physical bundle packages both titles together, while Nintendo announced digital versions sold individually. Digital availability, retail stock, and prices depend on your region and storefront, so compare the live listings before buying. Nintendo’s UK product page lists one to two players on one system; that player-count detail is specific to the UK listing.

No inclusion is established on the cited product pages. Nintendo named Mario & Luma and Rosalina & Lumas amiibo in its announcement, and says select amiibo can provide in-game items. Treat them as separate optional figures, not part of the game bundle, unless a specific retailer listing says otherwise.
