The 2025 Steam Summer Sale forecast is no longer a preview of an upcoming event: Steam’s 2026 sale has ended, and Valve currently lists the next Summer Sale for June 24–July 8, 2027. The 2025 article named 11 games it expected to receive major discounts, but that list is not a forecast for 2027 or confirmation that those games were discounted. Publishers choose whether and how to discount their games, so check each game’s current regional price and price history before buying.
When is the next Steam Summer Sale?
Valve’s Steamworks schedule lists the 2027 Summer Sale for June 24 through July 8. The previous Summer Sale ran June 25 through July 9, 2026, according to Steam’s official announcement. Dates can be checked against Valve’s upcoming Steam events schedule.
Which games were expected to get major discounts in the 2025 forecast?
In an article published June 25, 2025, TechRadar’s Isaiah Williams predicted that the following games might receive major discounts in that year’s Summer Sale. These were the author’s expectations at the time, not confirmed discounts or current buying recommendations.
- Resident Evil 4
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Death Stranding Director’s Cut
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
- The Last of Us Part II Remastered
- Baldur’s Gate 3
- Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
- Assassin’s Creed Shadows
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
Williams’s contemporaneous reasons included recent releases that had not yet been discounted on Steam, previous sale participation at a smaller discount, a concurrent publisher sale, and promotion around sequels, downloadable content, or publishers. Those rationales describe the 2025 forecast; they do not establish current prices, discount history, or what will happen in 2027. The original list appeared in TechRadar’s June 25, 2025 article.

Why a sale date does not guarantee a discount
Steam’s seasonal sale gives publishers an opportunity to offer discounts; it does not require them to discount any particular game or set a particular reduction. Valve says games released at least 30 days before a seasonal sale are eligible to participate, while publishers decide whether and how to discount. Eligibility is not a promise that a game will be included. See Valve’s seasonal sales guidance.
For that reason, the 2025 forecast should be treated as a historical list of expectations rather than a reliable guide to the next event. A game’s appearance in an earlier sale, its age, or marketing around a sequel or expansion does not guarantee another discount.

How to decide whether a Steam discount is worth buying
Before checkout, compare the offer with the game’s own pricing record rather than judging it only by the percentage shown against Steam’s reference price. SteamDB provides a third-party sale archive and recommends checking price history: SteamDB sale history.
- Check your regional price. Prices and discounts can vary by region, so use the amount shown for your Steam account.
- Compare the historical low. A sale may be worthwhile without matching a past low, but the game’s price history gives useful context for how unusual the current offer is.
- Check the edition or bundle contents. Confirm which game, expansion, or extras are included; similarly named editions may not be equivalent.
- Factor in timing. If you plan to play now, a reasonable discount may be more valuable than waiting. If you can wait, compare the live offer with past pricing and the possibility of future sales without assuming a particular date or discount.
No current price comparison is established here for the 11 games in the 2025 forecast, so check their live Steam listings before making a purchase.
