Tau Ventures and Dauntless Ventures also participated. The Austin-based company says its product uses software runtime data to help security teams spot and prioritize risks that conventional CVE- and patch-centered workflows can miss.
What Spektion does
Spektion is an Austin-based enterprise cybersecurity company founded by Joe Silva, Josh Skorich, and Julien Maladrie. Silva is CEO, Skorich is CTO, and Maladrie leads research and development. The founders’ published backgrounds include security work at Jones Lang LaSalle and TransUnion, founding the Dolos Group, and roles at Symantec and the European Commission.
The company’s product continuously analyzes an organization’s software inventory. Spektion says it draws on runtime data and software behavior analytics to assess how software behaves in a customer’s environment, identify risks beyond standard vulnerability and patch workflows, and help prioritize mitigation. SecurityWeek likewise describes continuous vulnerability analysis that can include flaws without CVEs or available patches, along with integrations to other security tools and minimal deployment overhead. These descriptions reflect company and vendor positioning, not independently validated performance findings. Spektion’s announcement and its runtime-intelligence white paper explain the approach.
How runtime analysis differs from CVE-centered vulnerability management
Traditional vulnerability-management processes commonly organize work around known vulnerabilities, such as CVEs, and the availability of patches. Spektion’s stated distinction is to add evidence about software behavior in the customer’s environment, with the aim of identifying and prioritizing risks that may not yet fit that known-vulnerability-and-patch cycle.

#1 Best Overall
- If you want to build a better future, you must believe in secrets.
- The great secret of our time is that there are still uncharted frontiers to explore and new inventions to create. In Zero to One, legendary entrepreneur and investor Peter Thiel shows how we can find singular ways to create those new things.
That difference is a product-positioning claim, not proof that Spektion detects more risk or reduces it more effectively than established scanners. The available coverage does not provide independent efficacy testing, comparative benchmarks, or customer outcome metrics. Security teams evaluating the platform would need to validate its inventory coverage, findings, prioritization, integrations, and operational overhead in their own environment.
Who funded Spektion
| Round | Amount | Lead investor | Other participating investors |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seed | $5 million | LiveOak Ventures | Tau Ventures and Dauntless Ventures |
Spektion announced the round on April 8, 2025; SecurityWeek independently reported the amount and investors on the same date. The announcement quoted LiveOak Ventures partner Creighton Hicks saying the company was built to “continuously purple team all of your software,” with the goal of keeping risk visibility and defenses aligned with changing risks in an organization’s environment. The funding announcement does not state a valuation, revenue, customer count, or measured market size. SecurityWeek’s report provides independent coverage of the funding news.

Is Spektion available?
Spektion said on April 8, 2025, that its software was generally available. That establishes availability as announced at launch; it does not provide public pricing, purchasing terms, or details about eligibility and onboarding. The product is enterprise cybersecurity software rather than a consumer finance product, so prospective buyers should contact Spektion for current commercial information.
