Social Security says people with my Social Security accounts can now submit three disability adjudication forms online, track cases at the hearing and appeals levels, and view proffer letters and other hearing-related notices in the Message Center. The agency says paper notices will continue to be mailed, so online access does not replace mail.
What you can do through my Social Security
In an article dated September 1, 2026, the Social Security Administration (SSA) described new online features for disability claims. They are available through a personal my Social Security account, according to SSA. The announcement describes account features; it does not establish that every feature will appear for every claimant or case.
Submit three disability forms online
SSA says account holders can complete and submit these forms online:
- HA-4631, Recent Medical Treatment
- HA-4632, Medication Information
- HA-4633, Work Background
SSA says online submission can get information to adjudicators more quickly and support more efficient case processing. That is the agency’s stated intended benefit, not a measured outcome reported in the announcement.

Check status at the hearing and appeals levels
The tracker described by SSA covers pending claims, appeals, and recently adjudicated claims at the Hearings and Appeals levels. The announcement does not promise comparable tracking across every earlier stage of a disability claim. For covered cases, SSA says the tracker shows status updates, estimated processing times, and key milestones.
Examples of updates include when a hearing office receives a Request for Hearing, as it reviews information and prepares a case for hearing, and when it issues a hearing decision. For an Appeals Request for Review, the tracker can show receipt and completion of actions. SSA describes these updates as real-time; it does not provide a separate performance measure for how quickly a particular case will update.

Find proffer letters and hearing notices
A proffer letter is a notice SSA sends when new evidence is added to a case after a hearing. Claimants can access the letter in the account’s Message Center and review and respond before a decision is made.
SSA also says 26 additional hearing-related notices are available electronically in the Message Center. Examples named in the agency article include:

- Notice of Hearing
- Request for Good Cause for Late Filing
- Request to Withdraw a Hearing Request
- Postponement of Hearing
- Amended Notice of Hearing
Those are examples, not a complete list of all 26 notices.
Online access does not replace mailed notices
Account holders may opt in to email or text alerts when documents become available. SSA says it will continue mailing paper notices to claimants and appointed representatives. Digital notices and optional alerts therefore supplement—not replace—the agency’s stated paper-mail delivery.

What the announcement does not establish
SSA’s September 1, 2026, article explains what the agency says its account features provide. It does not report claimant outcome data, describe accessibility performance, spell out exact account eligibility or sign-in requirements, or give technical-support procedures. SSA also reports that more than 100 million Americans have my Social Security accounts; that is an agency-reported account count, not the number of disability claimants or a measure of use of these new features.
