Snow White (2025) Box Office: How Much It Made and Whether It Was a Bomb

Snow White (2025) ended its theatrical run at $205.7 million worldwide, below its reported production budget. The gap supports calling it a box-office bomb, but it does not establish Disney’s final loss or prove that controversy caused the result.

Snow White (2025) finished its theatrical run with a reported worldwide gross of $205,679,463, including $87,203,963 in the U.S. and Canada and $118,475,500 internationally. Against The Numbers’ reported $269.4 million production budget, that makes the film a clear box-office underperformer—but gross ticket sales are not the same as Disney’s revenue or the film’s final profit or loss. The controversies surrounding the release are documented; their independent effect on ticket sales is not.

How much did Snow White (2025) make at the box office?

The Numbers reports a final worldwide theatrical gross of $205,679,463. Box Office Mojo lists the same total. These are reported ticket sales, not the amount Disney kept after theaters’ share and other costs.

Measure Reported amount Share of worldwide gross
U.S. and Canada (domestic) $87,203,963 — The Numbers, accessed 2026 42.4%
International $118,475,500 — The Numbers, accessed 2026 57.6%
Worldwide $205,679,463 — The Numbers, accessed 2026; also listed by Box Office Mojo 100%

The domestic and international shares are calculated from The Numbers’ reported totals. The figures are database totals viewed in 2026, not a new announcement of 2026 revenue.

Was Snow White a box-office bomb?

By the usual shorthand for theatrical performance, yes: the film’s worldwide ticket sales were substantially below its reported production budget. The Numbers lists a production budget of $269.4 million, about $63.7 million more than the reported worldwide gross. Put another way, worldwide gross was roughly 0.76 times the listed production cost.

That is a comparison of two different measures, not a profit-and-loss statement. The box-office gross is not all studio revenue: theaters retain a portion, and a film’s overall economics can include distribution and marketing costs as well as other revenue. The public figures cited here do not establish Disney’s total loss on the film.

Why break-even estimates vary

There is no single official break-even figure established by these sources. A March 29, 2025 Forbes analysis used a different production-cost input—$213.9 million—and assumed theaters keep roughly half of ticket sales. On that basis, Forbes estimated that the film would need about $427.8 million in theatrical gross to cover that production cost. Forbes noted that its $213.9 million figure excluded marketing and that its calculation did not include merchandise or corporate-alliance revenue. It is an assumption-based estimate, not an official Disney threshold; it should not be combined with The Numbers’ $269.4 million budget figure.

How did the opening compare with the final total?

The Numbers lists a domestic opening weekend of $42,206,415. The Associated Press, reporting on March 23, 2025, described the opening as an early estimate of $43 million domestically and $87.3 million worldwide. Those opening-weekend estimates were reported at the time; they are not the final database totals above.

AP also reported poor critical reviews and that audiences gave the film a B+ CinemaScore during its opening-weekend coverage. These details describe the reception around release, but neither they nor the later gross figures measure why individual moviegoers did or did not buy a ticket.

Did the controversy hurt Snow White’s box office?

The release was preceded by well-documented controversies, including debate over the film’s portrayal of the dwarfs and backlash over star Rachel Zegler’s comments. The Associated Press covered those issues alongside the film’s reviews and opening-weekend performance. A Guardian feature published March 21, 2025, also described disputes about the dwarfs, criticism from Peter Dinklage, public reaction to Zegler’s comments, and Disney’s smaller U.S. premiere event and short advance-ticket-sales window.

That establishes the context, not the cause. The available reporting and box-office totals do not isolate how many ticket buyers changed their decision because of any controversy, or quantify an effect on gross. It is more accurate to say that controversy formed part of a difficult release environment than to claim it alone caused the underperformance.

Release and home-video dates

The Numbers lists March 21, 2025, as the film’s domestic opening date and May 13, 2025, as its home-video release date through Walt Disney Home Entertainment. Box Office Mojo lists March 19, 2025, as the earliest release date in EMEA/APAC. Release dates can differ by territory and format.
