Skybox Security announced Cloud Edition on October 11, 2022 as a SaaS version of its security posture management platform for security policy and vulnerability management across hybrid environments. That announcement is historical: Tufin says Skybox closed operations and stopped supporting its product effective February 24, 2025. Former customers should evaluate Tufin’s ExpressPath transition program rather than assume Cloud Edition can still be purchased or supported.
What Skybox announced in 2022
Skybox presented Cloud Edition as part of its Security Posture Management Platform and described it as what the company called the “industry’s first” SaaS solution combining security policy and vulnerability management. The release itself does not independently verify that market-wide distinction, so it should be treated as Skybox’s positioning rather than an established industry fact.
The announcement said the platform continuously tested attack feasibility, exposure, remediation options and compliance across hybrid environments. Skybox described a network model intended to represent operational technology, traditional IT and hybrid-cloud environments.
Capabilities described in the announcement
Asset and exposure modeling
Skybox said its Cyber Asset Attack Surface Management capabilities could visualize assets through API integrations, identify and prioritize vulnerabilities using Skybox threat intelligence, expose security-control gaps and suggest remediation options. These are vendor descriptions, not independent test findings.

Vulnerability-to-malware context
The release described associations between vulnerabilities and malware, organized by name, category and classes such as ransomware, remote-access trojans, botnets, cryptocurrency miners and trojans.
Policy analysis and integrations
Skybox highlighted policy analysis and expanded integrations, specifically naming AWS firewalls, Cisco ACI and Palo Alto Networks Prisma Cloud. The announcement also stated that Skybox had more than 150 integrations at the time; that figure was vendor-reported and not independently audited.

What the cloud deployment was supposed to change
- Less infrastructure work: Skybox claimed Cloud Edition reduced installation and maintenance tasks.
- Faster deployment: The company promoted quicker implementation than a conventional deployment.
- Automatic updates: Skybox described updates as handled through the SaaS service.
- Hybrid scalability: The release claimed coverage spanning on-premises systems, public cloud, operational technology and mixed environments.
- AWS hosting and monitoring: Skybox said the service was hosted on Amazon Web Services and monitored tenants around the clock.
These statements describe the service Skybox announced; they are not independently confirmed uptime, performance or service-level results.
The announcement’s 55% risk-reduction statement
Skybox CEO and founder Gidi Cohen was quoted saying that the company’s modeling, path analysis and automation could reduce the risk of a significant data breach by 55%. The release referred to a separate Total Economic Impact study but did not provide its methodology. The figure therefore should not be used as a general expected reduction for every organization or deployment.

Timeline and current status
| Date | Event | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| October 11, 2022 | Skybox announced Cloud Edition | The company said the SaaS offering was available and aimed at hybrid security policy and vulnerability management. |
| February 24, 2025 | Skybox closed operations, according to Tufin | Tufin says Skybox ceased operations effective immediately and would no longer support its product. |
The 2022 “available now” wording is not evidence of current availability. Skybox Cloud Edition should not be described as a currently sold or supported service.
What former Skybox customers can do
Tufin’s customer information describes ExpressPath as a transition program for former Skybox customers. It mentions special pricing and flexible terms, onboarding, training access and assistance with policy migration. Eligibility, pricing, deadlines and the exact scope of migration help can change, so organizations should confirm those details directly with Tufin before committing.
How to assess a replacement platform
Organizations comparing alternatives should evaluate the capabilities that matter to their own architecture instead of relying on “first” or “limitless” marketing language.
- Deployment: Decide whether the organization requires SaaS, on-premises deployment or both.
- Environment coverage: Confirm support for the actual cloud accounts, network devices, firewalls, OT assets and hybrid links in use.
- Integrations: Check that the product connects to the buyer’s specific controls and asset sources, not merely a headline integration count.
- Prioritization: Understand how vulnerabilities are ranked, including exploitability, exposure, asset criticality and threat intelligence.
- Policy workflow: Verify analysis, change review, remediation guidance, approvals and audit evidence.
- Updates and support: Obtain current commitments for product updates, incident response, service availability and end-of-life notice.
- Migration: Determine whether existing policy models, rules, integrations and reports can be transferred and how much professional assistance is included.
- Compliance: Map the service to the organization’s regulatory, data-residency and evidence-retention requirements.
