Sheffield Wednesday’s takeover is no longer a pending deal: joint administrators BTG said the sale to Arise Capital Partners LLC completed on 5 May 2026. The consortium was led by David Storch and included Michael Storch and Tom Costin. The sale ended Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership, according to BBC Sport’s contemporaneous report. The latest sources available here do not confirm whether ownership has changed again since May.

Who bought Sheffield Wednesday?

BTG, the administrators’ firm, identified Arise Capital Partners LLC as the buyer when it announced completion. The consortium was led by David Storch, alongside Michael Storch and Tom Costin. David Storch said the group aimed to bring the club “stability, ambition and a clear direction”; that is the buyer’s stated intention, not evidence of future sporting or financial outcomes. BTG’s sale-completion notice is the primary source for the buyer and transaction details.

The deal followed a change in the sale process. On 10 March 2026, Sheffield Wednesday named Arise Capital Partners LLC as its preferred bidder after the previous preferred bidder withdrew. That announcement identified a leading bidder, not a completed sale. The administrators subsequently confirmed completion on 5 May. The club’s March notice records the earlier stage of the process.

What happened to the points deductions?

There were two separate deductions to distinguish. In October 2025, when the club entered administration, the EFL said its regulations triggered an automatic 12-point deduction. The EFL’s announcement concerned the administration event itself. The EFL statement sets out that sanction.

A further 15-point deduction was a risk discussed during the sale process, but BTG said the EFL Board chose not to impose it when the club exited administration. BTG said Wednesday would start the upcoming season on zero points. That completion outcome supersedes the pre-sale warnings about a possible additional deduction; the 12-point administration sanction and the proposed exit sanction were not the same decision.

What restrictions were reported with the sale?

BBC Sport reported at the time of completion that the club would remain under budget restrictions for two seasons, while still being allowed to sign new players. This describes the terms reported in May 2026; it does not independently establish the club’s compliance or the restrictions in force on 4 October 2026. BBC Sport’s report on the completed sale provides its account of those terms.

Is Chansiri still the owner?

BBC Sport reported on 2 May 2026 that the deal ended Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership, and BTG later confirmed the transaction completed on 5 May. However, the available authoritative reporting does not verify whether any material ownership change occurred after May. The confirmed answer is that Arise Capital Partners LLC bought the club in May; a claim about the current ownership position beyond that date would need a newer confirmation.
