Symbl changes its technology leadership
Selvan Senthivel becomes chief technology officer
Seattle conversational-intelligence startup Symbl appointed Selvan Senthivel as CTO. The company analyzes communication data to help organizations understand conversations and related business signals. Senthivel most recently served as CTO at GE HealthCare and had earlier AI engineering and technology leadership experience at Amazon Web Services, according to the report and Symbl CEO Surbhi Rathore’s September 2024 announcement.
Rathore described Senthivel’s background as including work on foundational infrastructure used across industries. The appointment connects experience in a large healthcare-technology company and a major cloud provider with a smaller company focused on applied conversational AI. It was an executive hire, not an acquisition, financing announcement or product launch.

Toshish Jawale moves from CTO to chief AI engineer
Symbl co-founder Toshish Jawale moved from CTO to chief AI engineer. Rathore said Jawale would concentrate on research collaborations and strategic customers. That creates a distinction between company-wide technology leadership and a role centered more deeply on AI work, although the announcement does not describe the change as a demotion or explain a formal succession process.
The sources do not provide exact start dates, compensation, a reporting structure or a separate announcement naming a replacement for Jawale as CTO.

Nautilus Biotechnology appoints Ken Suzuki as CMO
Ken Suzuki became chief marketing officer of Seattle-based Nautilus Biotechnology after spending more than two decades at Agilent Technologies, a scientific-instrument company. Suzuki is working from Nautilus’s research-and-development headquarters in the Bay Area.
Nautilus is developing a platform for proteomics—the study of the complete set of proteins produced by an organism. Marketing a highly technical platform to researchers, biotechnology companies and other institutional customers requires translating scientific capabilities into a clear commercial proposition. Suzuki’s long scientific-instrument background may be relevant to that challenge, but the September 2024 report does not state that he was hired for a particular product launch, sales target or financing campaign.

William Canestaro leaves the Washington Research Foundation
William Canestaro left his managing-director role at the Washington Research Foundation after eight years. WRF helps universities and nonprofit institutions commercialize technologies. The report also described Canestaro’s continuing connections to the regional startup ecosystem through board positions and an affiliation with the University of Washington School of Pharmacy.
Rank #4
The headline phrase “WRF investor steps down” is narrower than the article’s documented facts. The available account supports saying that Canestaro left his WRF managing-director position; it does not establish whether he resigned, retired, joined another investment organization or ended all venture-related work. No successor or reason for the departure was reported.

Katie Curnutte started Wagl Coaching, a Seattle-area business specializing in ADHD coaching. She was also president and co-founder of Kingston Marketing Group. What the 2024 moves show—and what they do not
Taken together, the announcements illustrate the movement of experienced personnel among large technology companies, AI startups, biotechnology firms and nonprofit commercialization organizations in the Pacific Northwest. That is an ecosystem pattern, not a claim that the moves share one coordinated strategy.
- Confirmed: the appointments and departure described above were reported in September 2024, with first-party announcements for the Symbl and Technology Alliance items.
- Not established: exact start dates for the new roles, successors for Jawale or Canestaro, reasons for Canestaro’s departure, and Nautilus’s specific go-to-market objectives.
- Current status: the cited material does not verify any person’s employment or board position as of August 18, 2026.
For readers tracking regional hiring, investment and commercialization, the practical takeaway is to treat this as a dated personnel snapshot. Later company announcements or updated professional profiles would be needed to determine what changed after September 2024.
