Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy Z Fold7 reservation offer has expired. In July 2025, reserving was free, but the advertised $50 was Samsung Credit—not cash or a $50 reduction in the phone’s price. A reserver had to use the same email to preorder and buy the qualifying phone, then apply the credit to eligible add-on products during that purchase.
What the Galaxy Z Fold7 reservation offered
Before the phone’s July 2025 unveiling, Samsung let U.S. customers register interest through Samsung.com or the Shop Samsung App. The reservation was an email-registration and launch-notification step, not a paid preorder, deposit, financing application, or purchase contract. It did not require the customer to buy a phone.
Reserving could qualify a customer for a $50 Samsung Credit, which Samsung called a “Reservation Gift,” if the customer later preordered and purchased the qualifying device. Samsung’s July 2025 U.S. Unpacked announcement and offer terms said the credit was for select Galaxy Buds, Watches, Tablets, or Galaxy Ring products.
What the $50 was—and was not
- It was: Samsung store credit subject to purchase and redemption conditions.
- It was not: cash, a refund, or an automatic $50 discount on the Fold7 itself.
- To qualify: customers needed to reserve, then preorder and purchase the qualifying device using the same email address during the applicable periods.
- To use it: the credit had to be applied during the preorder purchase toward eligible additional products. Samsung’s terms also described it as non-transferable and limited to one per qualifying purchase.
Samsung said a discount could be forfeited if the qualifying order was canceled or returned, and unused value could be lost after the certificate was used. The credit was therefore useful mainly to someone already planning a Samsung.com or Shop Samsung App purchase who wanted an eligible accessory or wearable.

What “almost gone” meant
The urgency was about the reservation window closing, not evidence that Galaxy Z Fold7 inventory was nearly sold out. The reminder was published July 4, 2025, five days before Samsung Unpacked. It did not establish a remaining stock count or a public numerical limit for the $50 credit. Droid Life’s July 4, 2025 report described the reservation as an email form rather than a commitment to buy.

How the credit related to other preorder savings
The $50 reservation credit should be kept separate from handset discounts and other promotions. Samsung’s terms restricted it to eligible add-on products rather than the preordered phone itself. A trade-in, storage-upgrade promotion, accessory deal, financing offer, or retailer or carrier offer had its own conditions; the available information does not establish that every such promotion could be combined with the credit.
- Reservation credit: A conditional $50 Samsung Credit for eligible add-ons, not a reduction in the Fold7’s sticker price.
- Trade-in: Any value depended on the device, its condition, and Samsung’s applicable valuation rules.
- Other launch offers: Storage upgrades or accessory promotions, if available, were separate offers with their own terms.
- Carrier and retailer deals: These could differ from Samsung’s direct-sale offers and were not automatically stackable.
Contemporary coverage referred to “up to $1,150” in savings, but that headline figure should not be treated as a typical or guaranteed discount: the total depended on separate offers and, where applicable, the customer’s trade-in.

A separate targeted offer followed
On July 21, 2025, Droid Life reported that Samsung emailed some people who had reserved but had not preordered, offering a promotion that could raise the reserve-related credit to $100 for certain Shop Samsung App purchases. This was a later, targeted offer—not the standard public $50 benefit—and should not be assumed to have reached every reserver. The report is available at Droid Life’s July 21 follow-up.
Current status
The July 2025 reservation offer is over. It is historical context, not a credit a buyer can claim now. Samsung later ran a separate 2026 reservation campaign advertising a different $30 Samsung Credit; that offer was not part of the Fold7 promotion. Current Fold7 pricing, stock, trade-in values, and protection-plan terms can change, so check Samsung’s live listings rather than relying on launch-era figures.
