The Galaxy Z Flip5 really was reported at $900 on Amazon—but that promotion was reported on April 8, 2024. It is not a verified current offer as of August 18, 2026, so treat $900 as a historical price, not a live deal. Before considering any remaining listing, compare its condition, seller, warranty and total cost with newer Samsung foldables.
What the $900 Galaxy Z Flip5 deal actually was
Android Headlines reported on April 8, 2024 that Amazon had reduced a 256GB Galaxy Z Flip5 to $900, describing that as $220 off a $1,120 regular price. The report establishes a historical promotion; it does not establish that the offer remains available, or confirm the listing’s seller, condition, warranty, carrier status or return terms.
The $1,120 reference price should not be confused with Samsung’s launch MSRP. Samsung announced a US starting price of $999.99 for the 256GB model in July 2023; general availability began August 11, 2023. Against that starting MSRP, $900 was $99.99 lower. The $220 comparison belongs to the deal article’s stated Amazon reference price, not Samsung’s official launch price. Samsung’s launch announcement also listed a 512GB option.
There is no verified live Z Flip5 price in the available retailer information. Samsung’s March 2026 US MSRP sheet lists newer Galaxy Z Flip7 FE and Z Flip7 models, not the Flip5. Listings on a marketplace can disappear or change seller, condition or price, so an old search result or shopping link is not proof of what a buyer will pay at checkout.

What the Galaxy Z Flip5 offers
The Flip5 is a clamshell foldable: it folds into a compact square and opens into a full-size smartphone. Its main selling point is the form factor, not a claim to match the newest conventional flagship in every camera, battery or durability measure.
| Feature | Galaxy Z Flip5 detail |
|---|---|
| Main display | 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, with adaptive refresh rate up to 120Hz |
| Cover display | 3.4-inch Super AMOLED, 60Hz, 720 × 748 |
| Storage | 256GB or 512GB |
| Cameras | 12MP main camera and 10MP front camera, as listed in the 2024 deal report |
| Battery | 3,700mAh, as listed in the 2024 deal report |
| Water resistance | IPX8; this is not a dust-resistance rating or a promise of immunity from damage |
| Construction and folding | Armor Aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the Flex Window and back cover, and Samsung’s Flex Hinge |
The 3.4-inch cover screen is substantially more useful than a tiny notification strip: it supports quick interactions without opening the phone. Flex Mode can prop the phone at an angle for hands-free video calls, selfies or tabletop photos. Those features make the Flip5 distinctive, but they do not establish that it is the best-value foldable at any particular price.

How to judge whether a Flip5 listing is worth the money
For a used or older-stock foldable, the headline price is only part of the financial decision. A low sticker price can be offset by a weak return policy, uncertain warranty, carrier lock or the risk of paying for a screen or hinge repair. Compare the final checkout cost and protections with a newer model before deciding.
Check the exact phone and terms
- Model and storage: Confirm the listing says Galaxy Z Flip5, not another Flip generation, and verify whether it is 256GB or 512GB.
- Condition: Distinguish new from renewed, refurbished or used. Do not assume a listing is new because its title says “Galaxy Z Flip5.”
- Seller and warranty: Identify who sells and ships the phone, and whether coverage comes from Samsung, the retailer or only the marketplace seller. The historical deal report does not provide enough information to establish these terms.
- Network status: Confirm whether it is factory unlocked or tied to a carrier, and check compatibility with your carrier before purchase. For a used device, ask about its IMEI status; avoid one that is blacklisted or still financed.
- Returns and total cost: Check the return window and add tax, shipping, activation charges, financing costs and any required service plan. Confirm that the advertised price is an outright price rather than a trade-in or bill-credit figure.
- What is included: Verify the color and included accessories. Do not assume a charger, case or other extras are part of the sale.
Inspect a used or renewed foldable promptly
Use the return period to check the inner display for dead pixels, lines, flicker, touch failures, crease damage or a lifting screen protector. Open and close the phone, listen for unusual hinge noise, and make sure it opens flat and holds its position in Flex Mode. Also check the frame, corners and charging port, and observe whether the battery behaves normally in everyday use. Physical damage, repair or aging seals can affect water resistance; IPX8 should not be treated as protection from dust or as a guarantee against liquid damage in every circumstance.

Separate trade-in discounts from cash prices
A trade-in offer is not equivalent to a straight price cut: it requires giving up another device, and the expected credit can depend on its condition and eligibility. Samsung’s offers page says trade-in devices must meet its requirements, including powering on, holding a charge, having a functioning display, being removed from blacklists, reset and free of software locks. Samsung says the device must be shipped within 15 days of receiving the new phone or the anticipated credit may be charged back. Read the terms before treating an advertised after-trade-in amount as the phone’s purchase price.
How $900 compares with newer Samsung foldables
Samsung’s March 2026 US MSRP sheet provides a useful reference point, but MSRP is not the same as a current sale price. Its unlocked list puts the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE at $899.99 for 128GB and $959.99 for 256GB. The Galaxy Z Flip7 is listed at $1,099.99 for 256GB and $1,219.99 for 512GB. Check Samsung’s March 2026 MSRP sheet and the Samsung offers page for current model and promotion information; neither verifies a live $900 Flip5 listing.
Rank #4
| Model and configuration | Samsung US unlocked MSRP listed March 2026 | What the comparison tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Z Flip5, 256GB | $999.99 US launch starting MSRP, announced July 2023 | The historical $900 report was $99.99 below the launch starting MSRP; its Amazon reference price was separately reported as $1,120. |
| Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, 128GB | $899.99 | Its listed MSRP overlaps the old Flip5 deal price, though it has less listed storage. |
| Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, 256GB | $959.99 | A newer-model reference point close to $900 before any promotions. |
| Galaxy Z Flip7, 256GB | $1,099.99 | A higher listed MSRP for the newer mainline model. |
| Galaxy Z Flip7, 512GB | $1,219.99 | A higher-capacity newer-model reference point. |
These MSRP comparisons do not show which phone is discounted at a particular retailer, nor do they establish equivalent performance, warranty or condition for a marketplace Flip5. Check whether any Samsung or retailer promotion is an outright discount, a trade-in credit, financing or a carrier offer; those terms change the real cost.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. When the older Flip5 makes financial sense
Consider it if
- You specifically want a compact clamshell that unfolds into a full-size phone, and value the cover screen and Flex Mode.
- The listing is clearly described, returnable, compatible with your carrier and backed by warranty coverage you consider adequate.
- Its total price is meaningfully lower than the newer foldable you would otherwise buy, after accounting for storage and any promotion conditions.
- You are comfortable with an older device and the possibility that foldable-screen or hinge repairs may be more consequential than repairs on a conventional phone.
Look elsewhere if
- The Flip5 is near $900 but renewed, used, carrier-locked, sold by an unknown marketplace seller or covered only by unclear terms.
- A newer Flip7 FE is available near that price and you would rather buy a newer generation than prioritize the Flip5’s specific configuration or condition.
- Your priorities are camera performance, battery endurance, gaming or keeping the phone for as long as possible; compare current alternatives on those needs rather than buying on the old discount claim alone.
- You would not be comfortable with potential foldable repair costs or a limited return window.
For another retailer comparison, Best Buy’s Galaxy Z-series price-drop search may surface newer-model offers, but its listings and terms must be checked directly. Neither retailer comparison should be treated as proof of a current Flip5 price.
