No: Samsung was not offering a universal $1,500 price cut on the Galaxy Z Fold6. The figure referred to a New Zealand pre-order package in July 2024, combining trade-in value, a trade-in bonus, one year of Samsung Care+ and an exclusive-color benefit. In the United States, Samsung advertised up to $1,200 in trade-in value instead. Both launch offers have expired, and Samsung’s U.S. MSRP list now marks the Fold6 end-of-life.
What the New Zealand “$1,500” offer included
Samsung New Zealand described a total promotional value of NZ$1,500 for qualifying Galaxy Z Fold6 pre-orders. It was a package valuation, not a NZ$1,500 reduction applied to every buyer’s checkout total.

| Galaxy Z Fold5 5G, 1TB trade-in | NZ$1,080 | A stated value for that specific trade-in example, not a guaranteed amount for any phone. |
| One year of Samsung Care+ | NZ$169 | A service benefit valued at its stated price, not cash paid to the buyer. |
| Online-exclusive color | Value not stated | An additional purchase-choice benefit; the promotion did not assign it a separate cash value. |
| Total advertised package | NZ$1,500 | Combined promotional value, not a flat price cut. |
The offer applied to a Fold6 pre-order in any memory variant and color within the same transaction. Unused benefits were forfeited, and trade-in terms applied. Samsung’s New Zealand promotion ran from July 11, 2024, at 1:00 a.m. through July 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., or while supplies lasted. Samsung New Zealand’s promotion terms establish the market, components and dates.
Why the country and currency matter
The NZ$1,500 figure came from a Samsung New Zealand community promotion. Its currency, eligible Fold5 trade-in example and dates are specific to that offer. The terms do not establish that the package was available in the United States or elsewhere; NZ$1,500 should not be presented as a U.S. promotion or converted into a U.S. discount.

- A premium foldable smartphone featuring an 8.0" Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, 6.5" cover display, 200MP main camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, 4,400mAh battery, and a slim 215g design.
A trade-in also is not automatically a saving equal to the advertised credit. The buyer gives up an existing phone. To estimate the economic benefit, compare the promotional credit with what that phone could realistically sell for, then add only the value of benefits the buyer would otherwise have purchased and actually wants. Someone who would not pay for Care+ should not count its full stated value as cash savings.
What Samsung offered U.S. buyers
Samsung’s 2024 U.S. launch announcement offered up to $1,200 in trade-in value for a Galaxy Z Fold6 to eligible customers who pre-ordered by July 23, 2024. It also advertised storage upgrades from 256GB to 512GB or from 512GB to 1TB. The offer was tied to the U.S. launch period and was subject to Samsung’s, participating carriers’ or retailers’ terms; it was not the New Zealand NZ$1,500 bundle. Samsung’s U.S. launch announcement gives those historical offer details.
Is the Fold6 deal still available?
No—the cited pre-order promotions ended in July 2024, so neither is an actionable current offer. That does not prove every retailer has sold its remaining Fold6 inventory.
For the United States, Samsung’s MSRP file effective December 2025 lists the unlocked Fold6 as end-of-life (EOL): $1,899.99 for 256GB and $2,019.99 for 512GB. EOL describes Samsung’s listed product status, not the stock situation at every retailer. Samsung’s U.S. MSRP file contains the EOL designation and listed MSRPs.
As checked August 18, 2026, Samsung’s U.S. phone-offers page promoted the Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra, Fold7, Flip8, Flip7 and newer Galaxy S-series phones. It listed up to $1,000 in instant trade-in credit for the Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra, and a $570 trade-in offer for the Fold7. Those are separate, time-sensitive offers, not evidence that the Fold6 promotion remains live. Samsung’s current U.S. phone offers can change; check the live terms before making a purchase decision.

What to check before accepting a Samsung trade-in
Trade-in credit is conditional. Under Samsung’s current standard U.S. program, the anticipated value is applied at purchase, but the old device generally must be shipped within 15 days after the new device arrives. If it is not shipped or fails inspection, Samsung may charge back the credit or value a rejected device at $0. The terms attached to the particular promotion control.
- Check eligibility and condition: The device generally needs to power on, hold a charge, have a functioning display, and be free of disqualifying cracks, liquid damage, excessive defects or a blacklist status. A cracked phone qualifies only if the specific offer says that model and condition are accepted.
- Clear account and device locks: Factory-reset the phone, remove personal data and disable software locks before sending it. Keep photographs of its condition, the shipping receipt, tracking information and proof of delivery.
- Resolve financing first: Installment-plan devices generally must be paid off. Leased phones are generally ineligible unless bought from the carrier first.
- Consider the return risk: Samsung’s FAQ says a customer who sends in the old phone and later returns the new Samsung device may not get the trade-in phone’s value back. Once an accepted trade-in transfers to Samsung, it normally cannot be returned.
Samsung’s U.S. trade-in FAQ explains inspection, reset, financing and return rules. The current offer terms describe eligibility and chargebacks; read the terms shown for the specific offer because conditions and timelines can vary.
How to assess a remaining Fold6 listing
If a retailer still has a Fold6, judge the deal by the price and protections actually offered now—not by the expired $1,500 headline or the old MSRP alone. Compare the listing’s price with the phone’s current alternatives, confirm that the seller has stock, and check the return policy, warranty coverage and the condition of any used or open-box unit. No current Fold6 retailer price or stock level is established here, so a specific retailer cannot be recommended on this evidence.
A Fold8 or Fold8 Ultra is the current Samsung foldable alternative surfaced on the U.S. offers page as of August 18, 2026. If comparing one with a Fold6, use the live checkout price and the trade-in credit Samsung actually gives for your device. A quoted maximum is not a guaranteed credit, and the value of the old phone is part of the cost of trading up.
