Short answer: Retailers did use “Black Friday” language for earlier Samsung TV promotions, but I could not verify a live, single-TV Samsung discount of $700 on August 16, 2026. Best Buy’s “Black Friday in July” event ended July 26, while Samsung’s $700 prepaid-card promotion required six qualifying products and had an earlier purchase deadline. Treat indexed sale pages as leads until the exact model and final cart price check out.
What can actually be verified
Best Buy’s official Black Friday page promoted a summer event called “Black Friday in July.” The promotion stated that it ended July 26, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CT. An indexed result showed a Samsung 65-inch U7900-series television with a $170 saving, but that expired event is not evidence of an active August deal.
Best Buy’s indexed Samsung TV search page also showed Samsung sets from $119.99 after savings and a 65-inch S90F OLED at $1,399.99 versus $2,499.99. Those are search-index prices, not confirmed August 16 checkout prices; stock, model availability and location can change.
Samsung’s promotions page listed a $700 Samsung Prepaid Mastercard for six qualifying Samsung products. The 2026 Q2 purchase period ended July 8 and submissions ended August 8. That was a conditional multi-product reward, not $700 off one television.

Samsung’s TV-offers page showed bundles, gifts and trade-in credits, including an offer ending July 31. It did not establish a live, standalone $700 Samsung TV markdown on August 16.
Walmart’s indexed pages showed a 50-inch M70HB Mini-LED at $348, down from $398, and a 75-inch M70HB at $647.99, down from $698. These are useful price signals, but they are modest reductions and require checking the seller, membership requirement and current cart price.

Why “save up to $700” can be misleading
A single-TV markdown
This is the straightforward case: the checkout price for one identified television is lower by $700 than a clearly established comparison price. No source reviewed here verifies that claim for a live Samsung TV on August 16.

A bundle rebate
A prepaid card or gift may have a stated value but require several qualifying Samsung purchases, a claim submission and a waiting period. Calculate the television’s checkout price separately from the reward.
Trade-in credit
Trade-in value depends on the old TV’s model, condition and eligibility. It is conditional credit, not guaranteed cash savings, and may not apply to damaged or unsupported sets.
List-price comparisons
A large gap between a “was” price and sale price may compare with MSRP, a previous price or a marketplace reference price. Without a reliable price history, call it a retailer-stated comparison rather than the lowest price ever.

Also check the product category: a “save up to $700” message can apply to an OLED gaming monitor, appliance or multi-item purchase rather than a Samsung television.
Which Samsung TV family fits your room?
Crystal UHD
These entry-level LED sets suit bedrooms, kitchens, rentals and casual streaming where low cost and screen size matter most. Expect less dramatic HDR and weaker black levels than OLED or higher-end Mini-LED models.

QLED and Neo QLED (Mini-LED)
QLED and Neo QLED are sensible starting points for bright rooms, sports and general viewing. Neo QLED’s Mini-LED backlight can add brightness and contrast, but “QLED” alone does not reveal local-dimming performance. Compare the full model number and year.

OLED
OLED is aimed at movie viewers and dark rooms that benefit from deep blacks and wide viewing angles. Prices are higher, brightness varies by generation, and prolonged static content can create image-retention or burn-in concerns. Samsung’s 2026 U.S. OLED families include S95H and S90H; Samsung lists the 65-inch S95H at $3,399.99 on its product page, a product-page price rather than proof of a sale.
The Frame and Frame Pro
Choose The Frame for art-display features and a flush, wall-mounted look. Mounting, accessories and any art subscription affect total cost, and a discount is not automatically good value if a conventional QLED or OLED better suits your viewing. Best Buy’s indexed listings showed a 43-inch 2025 Frame at $699.99 after a $100 saving and a 65-inch Frame Pro at $1,499.99 after a $400 saving; confirm both on the live listing.

Buy now when
- The exact model and suffix are substantially below its recent selling price.
- You need the TV before November and the retailer offers useful price protection or an easy return.
- Stock is limited or the model is being replaced.
Wait when
- The reduction is small or based only on MSRP.
- The offer depends on a complicated bundle, rebate or trade-in.
- The set is an older generation with an inflated reference price.
- You have no deadline and inventory is plentiful for the traditional November sales period.
Judge a deal by final price, absolute dollars saved and suitability—not percentage discount alone. A 20% cut on a $500 TV saves $100; a 10% cut on a $2,500 OLED saves $250.

Fine print that changes the value
- Exact model: Record the complete model number. Similar names such as 2025 S90F and 2026 S90H are not interchangeable.
- Membership and payment: Confirm whether Walmart+, a retailer card or another membership unlocks the shown price.
- Marketplace seller: Check who sells and fulfills the set, warranty coverage and return terms.
- Delivery and damage: Large TVs may have curbside delivery, special damage-reporting rules or different return windows. Inspect the panel immediately and retain the packaging.
- Installation: Budget for a mount, installation, cable routing and, on applicable models, a One Connect box.
- Gaming: Verify refresh rate, HDMI 2.1, VRR and input-lag specifications for the exact model.
- Viewing habits: Heavy news tickers or game HUDs make image-retention risk and warranty limits more important.
Verify any deal yourself
- Open the retailer’s product page, not just a search-result snippet.
- Copy the complete model number, screen size and model year.
- Add the television to the cart and enter your ZIP code.
- Check whether membership, a card, coupon, trade-in or bundle changes the price.
- Review seller, shipping, pickup, installation, warranty and return terms.
- Confirm the promotion’s end date and exclusions, then save the cart or receipt.
Prices and availability were checked against indexed listings and official promotion pages on August 16, 2026, and can change without notice. Search results can preserve expired pages, so the final cart is the controlling evidence.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Early Black Friday-style Samsung activity is real, but a live $700 saving on one Samsung TV was not verified. Buy only after the exact model, final checkout price and conditions are clear; otherwise, a modest early discount is a good reason to wait.
