It is not a price you can safely treat as live today. The original report also mentioned up to ₹3,649 cashback for eligible Amazon Pay ICICI cardholders, making the potential post-cashback cost ₹69,350—but only after meeting the card programme’s conditions.
What the ₹72,999 Galaxy S23 Ultra deal actually was
On December 25, 2024, a report said Amazon India listed the Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage at ₹72,999. The report described it as the phone’s lowest price at that time and noted a possible Amazon Pay ICICI credit-card cashback of up to ₹3,649. Read the original report at Gizmochina.
The Indian Express separately reported the same ₹72,999 figure as part of Samsung’s December 2024 holiday promotion. That independent report supports the price as a real sale offer, not a typo. “Lowest price” remains an attribution to the period’s report, not an independently audited all-time record.
List price versus possible effective price
| Item | Amount | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Advertised purchase price | ₹72,999 | Upfront price reported for the 12GB/256GB model |
| Maximum reported cashback | Up to ₹3,649 | For eligible Amazon Pay ICICI cardholders, subject to programme terms |
| Potential cost after maximum cashback | ₹69,350 | ₹72,999 minus ₹3,649; not the checkout price and not guaranteed |
Exchange value, coupons, delivery fees, EMI charges and regional availability were separate variables. Cashback may be credited later rather than deducted instantly.

Which exact phone was discounted?
The deal referred to the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G, 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. Do not confuse it with the standard Galaxy S23, the Galaxy S22 Ultra, a different storage tier or a renewed marketplace unit. Current retailer pages can place ₹72,999 beside the regular Galaxy S23, as shown on Croma’s Galaxy S23 sale page.
Price status now
Price status: the ₹72,999 figure belongs to the December 2024 promotion and is not verified as a current Galaxy S23 Ultra price. Croma’s crawled Galaxy S23 Ultra category page showed the 12GB/256GB model at ₹1,09,990, while related pages create model and snippet confusion. How to verify a listing before buying
- Open the product page, not a search-result snippet.
- Confirm the name says “Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G” and the configuration is 12GB RAM/256GB storage.
- Check that the condition is new and sealed—not renewed, open-box or seller-refurbished.
- Record the seller, invoice issuer, India warranty terms and return window.
- Review the final checkout total, including delivery, taxes, EMI interest and any required coupon or exchange.
- Read the bank-offer terms to see whether cashback is later credit, capped or restricted to selected transactions.
- Before accepting delivery, match the model and storage on the box and invoice.
Does the S23 Ultra still make sense?
Reasons it can be a good buy
- The S Pen, QHD 120Hz display and long-range 3x/10x zoom remain unusual at lower prices.
- The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy still provides flagship-level performance for everyday use and demanding apps.
- A genuinely new, India-warrantied unit at a steep discount can deliver more hardware than many current mid-range phones.
Reasons to be cautious
- It launched in February 2023, so its remaining software-support period is shorter than that of newer Galaxy Ultra models.
- Battery condition can vary with old stock, open-box inventory or refurbishment, even when the phone looks sealed.
- The 45W charging rate is modest beside newer Android flagships, and the handset is large and heavy.
- Imported units may not carry Samsung India warranty or local service eligibility.
How it compares with newer Galaxy options
| Model | Price signal in the cited Croma data | What you gain or give up |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S23 Ultra 12GB/256GB | ₹1,09,990 | S Pen and dual telephoto system, but older hardware and a shorter support runway |
| Galaxy S24 Ultra 12GB/256GB | ₹1,19,999 | Newer generation, flatter display design and longer support runway; costs more |
| Galaxy S25 Ultra 12GB/256GB variants | About ₹1,18,999 | Newer hardware and support horizon; not a bargain at the historical S23 Ultra price |
| Galaxy S23 | ₹72,999 appears on some Croma sale pages | Smaller and lighter, but no S Pen, smaller display and less capable camera system |
The Croma figures are crawled listing signals and can change with stock and promotions. Compare same-day checkout prices for the same storage, condition and warranty.
Who should buy—and who should walk away
Buy only when
- The phone is new, sealed and clearly identified as the 12GB/256GB Ultra.
- The seller offers a trustworthy return policy, a valid invoice and Samsung India warranty.
- The final cash price is substantially below newer Ultra models without mandatory exchange or card conditions.
- You specifically value the S Pen, QHD display and optical zoom.
Avoid or reconsider when
- ₹72,999 appears only in a headline, snippet or old price tracker.
- The listing switches to the regular S23, another Ultra generation or a refurbished condition.
- The apparent discount requires an exchange, EMI, coupon and bank card you cannot use.
- Battery health, seller identity or warranty coverage is unclear.
- A newer Galaxy Ultra is available at a similar final price.
