Salesforce completed its acquisition of enterprise data-management provider Zoomin on November 1, 2024. Salesforce paid approximately $344 million in cash for Zoomin’s remaining shares, according to its SEC filing. The strategic aim was to make information scattered across business systems more useful to Data Cloud and Agentforce—not to buy a consumer-facing AI product.
Why did Salesforce acquire Zoomin?
Enterprise knowledge often sits in unstructured sources such as product documentation, support repositories, intranets and shared drives. Salesforce said Zoomin’s technology could connect that information and make it available through Data Cloud, giving Agentforce and service teams more context for customer interactions. The acquisition fits Salesforce’s broader strategy of combining Customer 360 applications, Data Cloud and Agentforce.
Salesforce EVP and GM Rahul Auradkar described proprietary unstructured data as “powerful fuel” for AI agents and customer experiences, adding that Zoomin’s expertise would accelerate Data Cloud’s innovation and help customers get more value from Agentforce. Zoomin CEO Gal Oron said the companies’ joint mission was to keep AI from hitting “the data wall.” These are the companies’ stated rationale and expectations, not independent evidence of improved AI performance. Salesforce’s announcement describes the deal and intended use cases.
What does Zoomin add to Agentforce and Service Cloud?
Zoomin’s role is to help make dispersed, unstructured enterprise information accessible to Salesforce’s data and service products. In the intended workflow, that knowledge can inform automated service interactions and assist human representatives, potentially enabling faster resolutions, better customer satisfaction and lower operating costs. Those outcomes are stated aims; the announcement does not establish that they have been achieved.

Salesforce’s Unified Knowledge documentation says organizations can bring articles from SharePoint, Confluence, Google Drive and websites into Salesforce. Unified Knowledge exposes information across customer touchpoints and grounds generative-AI products for Einstein for Service. The documentation describes a 90-day Zoomin free trial with three connector instances and says customers can upgrade to Zoomin through Salesforce Setup. Availability, packaging and licensing may change with Salesforce releases and customer entitlements.
Did Salesforce complete the acquisition, and what did it pay?
Yes. Salesforce announced a definitive agreement on September 24, 2024, and an editor’s note on the same announcement page records completion on November 1, 2024. The announcement-stage headline is therefore outdated if read as a current status.

In its 2024 Form 10-Q, Salesforce said it acquired all outstanding stock of Zoomin Software Ltd. in November 2024. Salesforce had owned less than 10% of Zoomin before the acquisition; consideration for the remaining shares was approximately $344 million in cash. The filing also said Zoomin’s results were not material to Salesforce’s consolidated financial statements for the period disclosed, so it does not establish a standalone revenue contribution from Zoomin.
How does the deal fit Salesforce’s AI business?
The acquisition sought to connect Salesforce’s data platform and service applications with enterprise knowledge that may otherwise be hard for AI systems to use. Salesforce’s FY25 results release reported $900 million in Data Cloud and AI annual recurring revenue, up 120% year over year, and said Data Cloud surpassed 50 trillion records, double the prior year. It also reported 5,000 Agentforce deals since launch, including more than 3,000 paid. These are Salesforce-reported FY25 figures, not independent measurements. They provide business context for the strategy but do not show that Zoomin caused the reported growth. Salesforce’s FY25 results release gives the company’s figures.

What should businesses assess before using unified knowledge for AI?
Connecting a source is only one part of making enterprise knowledge useful to an AI agent. Organizations evaluating a knowledge-grounding setup should check:
- Source coverage and connector depth: Confirm that the required systems and content types are supported.
- Freshness: Understand how content is synchronized and how quickly changes or removals take effect.
- Permissions and governance: Verify that access controls and data policies carry through to retrieval and AI responses.
- Grounding quality and traceability: Test whether responses are supported by relevant material and can be traced to their sources.
- Deployment effort: Estimate the work to configure connectors, curate content and maintain integrations.
- Licensing and total cost: Confirm the applicable Salesforce and Zoomin entitlements, connector limits and ongoing costs.
- Workflow fit: Check whether the setup works with existing CRM, support and service processes.
The cited Salesforce materials explain the intended integration and some Unified Knowledge options, but they do not provide a like-for-like competitor benchmark or independent performance testing.
