Reporting published in late March 2026 identified names, contact information, account numbers and language preferences. Rogers said it had not identified unauthorized access to financial information, Social Insurance Numbers (SINs), dates of birth or passwords. The number of affected customers, the incident’s duration and whether information was downloaded remain unconfirmed.
What happened
Rogers’ cybersecurity monitoring identified unauthorized third-party access to limited customer information, according to the company’s statement reported by MobileSyrup. The disclosure covered both Rogers and its Fido subsidiary. Rogers said it took investigative and protective steps and was continuing to review the incident.
The available reporting establishes when the incident was disclosed, not when unauthorized access began. The attack method, affected systems, duration and whether data was exfiltrated or published have not been publicly established.

These categories come from reporting on Rogers’ statement and related coverage by MobileSyrup, Stockwatch and iPhone in Canada (MobileSyrup; Stockwatch; iPhone in Canada). “Contact information” is broad; Rogers has not publicly defined whether that means every customer address, email address, telephone number or billing address. “Not identified” describes the status of Rogers’ investigation. It is not an independent forensic guarantee that those categories could never have been exposed.

No confirmed customer count was available in the reporting reviewed. Rogers was still assessing the scope.

An online post later alleged that data covering 10.9 million lines was offered for sale. That figure and the authenticity of the material were not verified by Rogers or independently established in the available reporting (Tech-Talk). It should not be treated as a victim count or as proof that a complete database was stolen.
What this means for customers
The most immediate realistic risk is targeted impersonation. Names, phone numbers or other contact details and account numbers can help a fraudster make a call, text or email sound like a genuine Rogers or Fido support request. The incident does not establish that SIM swaps, device upgrades, account takeovers or identity theft occurred; those are potential scam outcomes, not confirmed consequences.

What Rogers and Fido customers should do now
- Expect convincing scams. Treat unexpected calls, texts and emails mentioning your carrier or account as suspicious, even when the sender knows your name or account number.
- Use no links or callback numbers supplied in an unexpected message. Open the official Rogers or Fido app, or type the company’s website address yourself.
- Protect secrets. Never give an unsolicited contact your password, account PIN, one-time verification code, payment details or government-identification number. Caller ID can be spoofed.
- Change reused passwords. Rogers said passwords were not identified as accessed, so this is general account hardening rather than a confirmed password-theft response. Change any Rogers or Fido password reused on another service and use unique credentials.
- Review the account. Check recent activity, contact details, authorized users, billing changes, device upgrades and SIM or eSIM changes. Contact Rogers or Fido through an official support channel if anything is unfamiliar.
- Report suspicious messages. Forward suspicious texts to 7726 (“SPAM”). Rogers also accepts suspicious email at
[email protected]and directs customers to customer care for suspected Rogers or Fido phone scams (Rogers phishing and spam guidance).
How to spot a fake Rogers or Fido contact
- Rogers says it will not ask for personal and account details by text.
- End an unexpected call and start a new call using a number in the official app, your bill or the company website.
- Never disclose a one-time code to someone who called you unexpectedly.
- Do not install software, transfer money or visit a provided link because an apparent representative pressures you.
- For an email that might be genuine, sign in independently rather than selecting its button.
If fraud has already happened
- Contact Rogers or Fido immediately and ask for an account review.
- Contact the financial institution involved using the number on the back of your card or its official website.
- Report suspected identity fraud to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
- Ask Canada’s credit bureaus about fraud alerts or other protections available for your situation.
- Keep screenshots, email headers, phone numbers, dates and transaction records.
Do not assume that a credit freeze, reimbursement, free monitoring or identity-protection service is automatically available to Rogers or Fido customers; no such Rogers offer was confirmed in the reporting reviewed.
What is still unknown
- The total number of affected customers.
- When unauthorized access started, how long it lasted and which systems were involved.
- Whether information was downloaded, removed or offered for sale.
- Whether the alleged 10.9-million-line dataset is genuine.
- Whether any customer data has been misused.
- How Rogers will notify affected individuals and whether it will offer monitoring or other assistance.
Not receiving an email is not proof that you were unaffected. Because the scope had not been publicly confirmed, secure and monitor your account independently and verify any notification through an official channel.

Is this connected to other Canadian telecom incidents?
Coverage placed the Rogers/Fido disclosure alongside separate reports involving unauthorized activity at Quebecor-owned Freedom Mobile and at Telus Digital. Those are separate incidents; no evidence in the available reporting shows that they were one coordinated attack. MobileSyrup also described Rogers’ last publicly referenced data breach as occurring in 2020, a historical comparison rather than a complete breach record.
Do you need to buy protection?
You probably do not need to purchase anything because of this incident. First secure accounts, stop password reuse, enable available account protections and watch for impersonation attempts. A password manager can help create unique credentials if you reuse passwords, but it does not mean Rogers passwords were stolen. Paid credit or identity monitoring may be a personal choice, not a demonstrated requirement, because the reported categories do not establish exposure of card numbers, SINs or dates of birth.
