Richard Stark has left KPMG after just over 20 years with the firm. His next employer and role have not been announced; he says he plans to continue the work he loves in the North West.
What is confirmed about Stark’s departure
BusinessCloud reported on October 2, 2026, that Stark had left KPMG, where his most recent position was corporate finance partner. The report describes his tenure as more than 20 years; Stark characterized it as just over 20 years in his own departure post.
Stark wrote: “I will be forever grateful for the opportunities and experiences provided to me over what’s been an immensely rewarding period.” He also thanked the KPMG colleagues and clients he had worked with, calling it “a genuine privilege.”
What Stark has said about what comes next
Stark wrote that he would be “continuing to do the job I love somewhere new, from my home market of the NW.” Neither his post nor BusinessCloud’s report names his next employer or role, so no specific appointment can yet be confirmed.

The available post text says “today marks my last day” but does not give a date alongside that wording. BusinessCloud’s October 2 publication date should not be treated as confirmation of Stark’s final working day.
Colleagues’ tributes
Former KPMG colleague Chris Stott thanked Stark for his contribution and wished him well in his next chapter. Jonathan Boyers, identified by BusinessCloud as head of corporate finance for EMEA at Alvarez & Marsal, praised Stark’s integrity and values and described him as an accomplished adviser.

What has not been announced
The departure announcement does not state why Stark is leaving, identify a successor, or describe any change to KPMG’s corporate-finance business. It is a personnel update, not evidence on its own of a broader organizational shift.
