Quant Mutual Fund has urged investors to stay flexible with portfolio and asset allocation as global risks shift. That is the fund house’s reported market view—not a personalized instruction to trade. The Economic Times reported the recommendation in its October 3, 2026 update on Quant’s monthly release.
Why Quant says flexibility matters
Quant’s case, as reported by The Economic Times, centers on changing risks across commodities, currencies, interest rates and equities. The article cited disruption to global commodity supplies amid a Middle East crisis, Brent crude above $100 a barrel, a 25-basis-point US Federal Reserve rate increase and pressure on equities and the rupee.
The report said the Nifty 50 fell 6% in September 2026, while the Hang Seng and Shanghai indices each declined about 3.5%; it also described the rupee as moving toward 96 per US dollar. These are figures reported by The Economic Times, not independently verified here or a description of current market levels. The newspaper report is not the original source for index, commodity, foreign-exchange or central-bank data.
Quant also discussed AI-related investment and what it called the “anti-AI trade.” That is the fund house’s interpretation of market risks and opportunities, not an established forecast of Indian market performance.

What Quant reportedly held and favored
The Economic Times said Quant remained relatively underweight in manufacturing because of uncertainty over input costs and supply chains. It reported that the fund house had increased exposure to IT services, which Quant described as entering “neglected territory.”
The article also said Quant remained constructive on the following areas:

These descriptions concern Quant’s reported positioning and outlook. They are not independent buy-or-sell recommendations, and the report does not establish that the views will remain unchanged. Quant described its approach as dynamic and active, and its structure as multi-asset and multi-manager; the article does not independently assess the process or its results.
How to apply the message to your own allocation
A fund house’s outlook reflects its own analysis and holdings. Your allocation is a separate decision: SEBI investor education says it should take account of your financial goals, risk tolerance, investment time horizon and market outlook. Those factors matter more to a personal decision than copying a fund house’s sector preferences.

- Goals: Consider what the money is for and when you will need it.
- Risk tolerance: Match the portfolio to the losses and volatility you can bear.
- Time horizon: A near-term need and a long-term goal may call for different levels of risk.
- Market outlook: Treat an outlook as one input, not a substitute for a plan built around your circumstances.
SEBI also notes that diversification can reduce the effect of poor performance in a single investment, but it does not guarantee against loss. Quant’s sector views do not provide a basis for inferring allocation percentages for an individual investor. For personalized guidance, consider whether advice from an appropriately registered Indian adviser suits your needs; check registration, fees, scope of service and potential conflicts.
