These are archived U.S. offers from Black Friday 2024, not live 2026 deals. The promotions have ended, so treat every price below as a historical example—not a price you can expect to pay today. Sony said its 2024 promotion ran November 22 through December 2, but individual products and retailers could use different sale periods.
PS5 Slim prices: disc versus digital
USA TODAY’s November 2024 deal roundup, updated November 29, listed the PS5 Slim Digital Edition at $374.99, down from $449.99, and the PS5 Slim with a disc drive at $424.99, down from $499.99. These were U.S. prices; the outlet reported similar offers across several retailers, with some listings rounded to whole dollars. USA TODAY’s 2024 roundup provides the retailer-specific examples.
The $50 difference reflected more than a cosmetic choice. The disc model can play compatible physical game discs, while the Digital Edition relies on digital purchases. A shopper comparing the two should consider whether physical games or discs already in their collection matter, rather than looking only at the console discount.
Bundles: compare what is included, not just the price
Some offers paired the console with a game at the same advertised price as a console-only deal, making the bundle potentially more valuable for someone who wanted that game. Bundle contents and retailer listings matter: these prices were not interchangeable with a bare console offer.
#1 Best Overall
| 2024 U.S. offer | Reported deal price | Reported regular price | Retailer context |
|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 Slim Digital Edition | $374.99 | $449.99 | PlayStation Direct; similar offers reported at multiple retailers |
| PS5 Slim Digital Edition with NBA 2K25 | $374.99 | $499.99 | PlayStation Direct and Best Buy; Amazon was reported at $374 |
| PS5 Slim with disc drive and Fortnite Cobalt Star bundle | $424.99 at Best Buy; $424 at Walmart | not stated for these retailer listings | Retailer-specific bundle listings |
The NBA 2K25 bundle’s reported regular price was higher than the Digital Edition console-only reference price, but a stated reference price is not proof of the game’s value to every buyer. Compare the exact included edition and whether you would have bought it separately.
PS VR2 and other hardware
PlayStation VR2 appeared in two distinct 2024 offers. USA TODAY reported a Best Buy bundle with Horizon Call of the Mountain at $349.99, compared with $599.99. A separate Sony-store offer listed the headset at $349.99, compared with $549.99, through January 3, 2025. These are different offer descriptions and reference prices; do not treat them as one universal MSRP or bundle.

For racing-game players, the same USA TODAY roundup listed the Logitech G29 Driving Force racing wheel for PS5 at $199.99, down from $299.99. That is a dated reported offer, not confirmation of present availability or price.
Games and DualSense controllers
The roundup included these examples of game discounts: Gran Turismo 7 at $29.99 versus $69.99, NBA 2K25 at $29.99 versus $69.99 on Amazon, and Astro Bot at $49 at Best Buy. The cited reporting does not establish identical sale windows for these products.

DualSense wireless controllers were listed at Amazon for $54–$59, compared with stated regular prices of $74.99–$79.99; Target listings were $54.99–$59.99. Prices varied by listing and sale period. These examples can help explain what shoppers saw in 2024, but they are not a current comparison.
Other 2024 PlayStation promotions
Sony Interactive Entertainment’s November 20, 2024 announcement described additional U.S. promotions, including up to 30% off a 12-month PlayStation Plus membership for new members. Existing Essential members could receive 25% off the remainder of a plan when upgrading to Extra; members moving from Extra to Premium or Deluxe could receive 30% off. Eligibility and plan availability varied. Subscriptions renewed at the then-current store price until canceled, and catalog availability varied by region, plan, and time.

Sony also advertised up to 40% off select PlayStation Gear merchandise. Selected products and offer dates varied, so the maximum advertised discount did not apply to every item.

Sony announced that its overall Black Friday promotion began November 22 and ran through December 2, 2024, while noting that “offers will vary by region and retailer.” Product offers could have different sale periods. USA TODAY’s report recorded individual retailer end dates including November 30, December 3, December 13, December 23, December 25, and January 3, 2025. The overall Sony window therefore should not be used as the end date for every product.
