Verdict (August 18, 2026): A $549 Best Buy price for a Pixel 9 cannot be verified as a current nationwide offer. Best Buy’s accessible listing shows a new, unlocked 128GB Obsidian Pixel 9 for $749, sold by Best Buy, while lower open-box prices are marked unavailable. Treat any $549 headline as unconfirmed until the exact configuration, seller, condition and cart total match.
What the current Best Buy listing shows
The indexed product is the Google Pixel 9 128GB, unlocked, Obsidian (model GA05226-US, Best Buy SKU 6587819). The page shows $749, with $799 listed as a comparable value, and identifies Best Buy as the seller. Check the listing directly at Best Buy’s Pixel 9 product page.
For the sampled location, both shipping and pickup were shown as unavailable. Inventory and fulfillment can change by ZIP code, so a displayed price is not a usable deal unless the phone can actually be shipped or collected.

- The amazing Actua display - The 6.3-inch Actua display is sharp, vibrant, and super bright. It runs fast, up to 120Hz, for smooth gaming, scrolling, and switching between apps

- Give photos a whole new vision - Reimagine photos in Magic Editor, like adding fall leaves or green grass. Just tap what part you want to change in the photo, and type what you want to see.
- Storage and color: Confirm 128GB or 256GB and the selected color. A sold-out color or different storage tier can carry a separate price.
- Condition: New, open-box, refurbished and used units are not equivalent.
- Network status: Make sure the listing says unlocked, not a carrier-connected phone requiring activation or installments.
- Seller: Best Buy product pages can also display Marketplace offers. For example, the Porcelain variant has a Marketplace listing at this Best Buy URL; seller, fulfillment, warranty and returns can differ.
- Price type: Determine whether $549 is the amount before tax, a trade-in-adjusted figure, a gift-card calculation, a financed total or a carrier promotion.
Advertised price versus what you pay
| Price label | What it means |
|---|---|
| Advertised price | The product-page amount before tax and any required conditions. |
| Checkout price | The item price in your cart before tax and shipping; this is the figure to verify. |
| Trade-in price | Depends on surrendering an eligible phone and its assessed condition; it is not an unconditional discount. |
| Gift-card-adjusted price | You generally pay more upfront and receive store credit later. |
| Financed price | A monthly payment can look low while the total purchase price remains unchanged. |
| Carrier-promotion price | May require activation, a new line or installment billing and may not apply to an unlocked purchase. |
Best Buy separates its unlocked price from financing and trade-in messaging on the product page, so those figures should not be combined into a single sale price.
Open-box prices are lower—but were unavailable
The open-box listing showed condition-based prices for the same 128GB Obsidian model:

| Condition | Displayed price | Availability shown |
|---|---|---|
| Fair | $371.99 | Unavailable |
| Good | $393.99 | Unavailable |
| Excellent | $416.99 | Unavailable |
Best Buy explains that open-box products have been opened and returned. Fair units can have larger dents or scratches and may lack parts, accessories or original packaging. Before buying one, confirm the specific unit’s return window, warranty coverage and included accessories. An unavailable price is not an actionable bargain.
What you get in a Pixel 9

The base configuration has 128GB of storage. Google states that Pixel 9 receives seven years of software support from the device’s first Google Store U.S. availability date. That promise helps its long-term value, although a Pixel 9 bought in 2026 has less remaining support time than a newer generation.
Is Pixel 9 worth buying in 2026?
If you can verify $549 new and unlocked
That would be an attractive price for buyers who prioritize Pixel camera processing, clean Android software and long support over peak gaming performance. Confirm that $549 is the item price before tax, with no trade-in, activation or installment requirement, and that 128GB is sufficient.

If the price is $749 new
The value is much weaker. Pixel 9 is no longer Google’s newest generation, so paying close to its original positioning only makes sense if you specifically prefer its size, camera experience or Best Buy fulfillment and newer alternatives are materially more expensive.
If you find a $549 refurbished unit
Condition, seller reputation, warranty and return rights matter more than the headline discount. A refurbished Marketplace phone should not be described as a Best Buy-sold new deal.
Best Value
- 128gb of storage
- Includes charging cord and box
- Excellent cosmetic condition
If you find open-box inventory near $372–$417
Those prices could be compelling for a buyer comfortable with cosmetic wear and possible missing packaging or accessories—but the accessed offers were unavailable, so verify local stock before planning around them.
Storage and camera trade-offs
- 128GB can fill quickly with 4K video, large games and offline media; there is no indication of expandable storage.
- The base Pixel 9 does not include a telephoto camera. Buyers who need optical zoom should consider a Pro model or another phone.
- Newer Pixel models may offer longer remaining support and newer hardware for a similar effective price.
How to verify the deal before paying
- Open the exact Pixel 9 listing.
- Confirm the title says Pixel 9—not Pixel 9a, Pixel 9 Pro or Pixel 10.
- Check the storage capacity and select the advertised color.
- Confirm the phone is marked Unlocked.
- Verify the seller is Best Buy; if it is Marketplace, read that seller’s warranty and return terms.
- Enter your ZIP code and check shipping, store pickup and nearby inventory.
- Add the phone to the cart and record the item price before tax.
- Remove trade-in credits, financing assumptions, protection plans and accessories from your calculation.
- Read the return policy and warranty, especially for open-box or refurbished units.
- Save a timestamped screenshot or receipt because clearance prices and stock can change quickly.
Alternatives to consider
The Best Buy comparison area displayed a refurbished Pixel 8 128GB at $259 and a Pixel 10 Pro 128GB at $899 when accessed. Those figures and stock signals should be rechecked, but they illustrate the choice: spend less on an older refurbished phone or pay more for newer premium hardware. Google also sells Pixel 9 directly and offers trade-in options, although a current Google Store price was not reliably established here.
Cases and screen protectors are optional costs. The Best Buy page displayed an OtterBox Defender Pro at $43.99, OtterBox Symmetry at $30.99 and a ZAGG Glass Elite protector at $49.99. A Google 45W USB-C charger had previously appeared at $24.99. Check box contents before buying a charger rather than assuming one is included.
Bottom line
Do not treat “Pixel 9 for $549 at Best Buy” as a verified current deal. As of August 18, 2026, the accessible new unlocked 128GB Obsidian listing was $749 and unavailable for the sampled fulfillment location; open-box prices were lower but also unavailable. Buy only if your own cart confirms $549 for a new, unlocked phone sold by Best Buy without trade-in, activation or financing conditions. Otherwise, compare the total cost with refurbished Pixel 8 options and newer Pixel models.
