Penguin Solutions reported 47.6% year-over-year sales growth in Q3 FY2026, but that headline does not mean every part of the business grew at the same pace—or that profitability improved. Integrated Memory, which the company linked to AI-driven demand for DRAM and flash, generated most of the increase. Advanced Computing rose only modestly for the quarter, and gross margin fell.
For investors, the key distinction is between reported growth and its composition: which businesses produced it, whether it is broad-based, and what it did to margins. The figures below are company-reported results for the quarter ended May 29, 2026, released July 7, 2026.
Is Penguin Solutions’ AI growth real?
The reported growth is real in the sense that it appears in the company’s financial results. Penguin Solutions recorded net sales of $478.713 million in Q3 FY2026, up from $324.251 million a year earlier, a 47.6% increase. Its filing says the increase was primarily driven by Integrated Memory. The company attributed that segment’s performance to DRAM and flash momentum, with AI-driven demand supporting favorable pricing and higher volume. These figures and explanations are company-reported, not an independent measure of the broader AI infrastructure market.
CEO Kash Shaikh described the result this way: “Integrated Memory net sales more than doubled year over year, and our AI Infrastructure business continued to build momentum, reflecting strong demand and execution across our memory and AI Infrastructure portfolio.” That is management’s characterization, rather than outside validation of future demand or financial performance. Penguin Solutions’ July 7, 2026 earnings release and its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended May 29, 2026 provide the reported results and company explanations.

How much of Penguin’s revenue comes from AI?
The available segment figures do not establish a precise amount or percentage of total sales attributable specifically to AI. Penguin Solutions sells memory and AI infrastructure, but Integrated Memory includes DRAM and flash sales, and the filing does not allocate all segment revenue to AI customers or uses. Advanced Computing also serves multiple customer types. Treating all sales in either segment as AI revenue would overstate what the figures show.
The company describes its offer as a full-stack platform combining infrastructure software, advanced memory, compute systems, end-to-end services, and partner solutions for enterprise, sovereign AI, and neocloud customers. That business description gives context, but it is not a revenue breakdown by end market.

Which Penguin Solutions business is growing fastest?
Integrated Memory was the largest segment in Q3 and the fastest-growing by a wide margin. The table separates quarterly performance from the first nine months of FY2026, because the two periods tell different stories for some businesses. Dollar figures are in millions; growth rates are year over year.
| Segment | Q3 FY2026 sales | Q3 year-over-year change | First-nine-month year-over-year change | Company’s explanation |
| Integrated Memory | $275.067 | +$144.9 million; +111.4% | +$251.1 million; +75.6% | DRAM and flash momentum; AI-driven demand supported favorable pricing and volume. |
| Advanced Computing | $137.583 | +$5.1 million; +3.8% | −$105.3 million; −20.6% | Q3 strength in non-hyperscale AI infrastructure was partly offset by the Penguin Edge wind-down. The nine-month decline also reflects hyperscale hardware sales in 2025 that did not recur in 2026. |
| Optimized LED | $66.063 | +$4.4 million; +7.2% | −$11.9 million; −6.3% | Q3 growth reflected stronger channel demand and higher direct sales; the year-to-date decline reflected broad-based weaker demand. |
Integrated Memory’s $144.9 million quarterly increase accounts for nearly all of the $154.462 million increase in consolidated sales. Advanced Computing and Optimized LED also grew in Q3, but their combined increases were much smaller. Across the first nine months, the segment picture is less uniformly positive: Advanced Computing and Optimized LED were both below their prior-year levels.

Why did revenue rise while gross margin fell?
Sales growth and margin improvement are different outcomes. Penguin Solutions’ Q3 gross margin was 27.8%, compared with 29.3% a year earlier. For the first nine months, gross margin was 27.7%, versus 28.9%. The company attributed the declines primarily to the Penguin Edge wind-down and a shift in sales mix across business units.
A faster-growing segment can lift total revenue without lifting the percentage of sales left after cost of revenue. The filing’s explanation points to mix and the wind-down as factors in this period; it does not establish that AI-related sales themselves caused the margin decline. The practical investor question is whether revenue growth can persist while the business absorbs its changing mix and fixed resource commitments.

What could make the growth harder to sustain?
The 10-Q describes a transition from a business concentrated among hyperscalers toward a more diversified AI infrastructure customer base that includes enterprise, neocloud, and sovereign AI customers. Penguin warns that this transition may negatively affect sales. It also notes that fixed short-term resource commitments make operating income and margins sensitive to variability in expected sales mix.
- Memory pricing: Volatility can affect sales and profitability even when demand and unit volume are supportive.
- Customer concentration and order timing: Large orders or changes in timing can make quarterly comparisons uneven.
- Mix and demand: Shifts among products, customers, and business units can affect margins as well as revenue.
- Supply availability: Constraints can limit the company’s ability to meet demand.
- Penguin Edge wind-down: The company said it expected to complete the wind-down by the end of FY2026; its effects are part of interpreting current comparisons.
The company also announced NVIDIA AI Factory Specialized Partner status and Dell Technologies Global Alliances Americas AI Partner of the Year recognition in its Q3 release. Those are partner status and recognition announcements; they are not independent evidence that revenue or earnings will meet expectations.

How should investors read Penguin’s FY2026 outlook?
In its July 7, 2026 release, Penguin Solutions forecast FY2026 net-sales growth of 22%, plus or minus 2%, GAAP diluted EPS of $1.97, plus or minus $0.05, and non-GAAP diluted EPS of $2.60, plus or minus $0.05. These are management’s guidance as of that date—not full-year results. The company identifies outlook and AI-demand statements as forward-looking and subject to risks. Compare the guidance with reported results only as separate measures, and check later company filings for updates before relying on it.
