Pax8 Acquired Netherlands-Based Cloud Distributor Resello in 2021

Pax8 acquired Resello, a Netherlands-based cloud services distributor, in a deal that closed on June 30, 2021, according to contemporaneous reporting. The acquisition added Resello’s European reseller relationships and cloud-distribution capabilities to Pax8’s expansion plans. The reports did not disclose financial terms, and they described a planned partner transition—not proof that every Resello partner later migrated.

What Resello did

Resello was a business-to-business cloud distributor and Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) Indirect Provider. Its platform served internet service providers, value-added resellers, managed service providers, systems integrators, software vendors and other IT resellers. Founded in 2013, the company focused on helping partners buy, sell, provision, automate and bill for cloud services—not on operating hyperscale cloud infrastructure for consumers.

CRN reported that Resello supported partners in close to 40 European countries. HostAdvice reported that the company supported 15 languages at the time; those figures describe the company as reported in 2021, not verified current coverage. Its platform and services were associated with Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Virtual Desktop, Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud and Vade for Microsoft 365, as well as billing, provisioning, PSA integrations, partner support and training. HostAdvice’s July 2021 report describes those service examples.

Why Pax8 pursued the deal

The stated rationale was to expand Pax8’s European presence and improve its ability to support partners operating across borders. Pax8 said Resello’s local-market knowledge and support could help partners serve multinational customers whose operations extended into multiple countries. The companies also presented Resello’s consulting, training and workshop capabilities as resources that might benefit partners in other Pax8 markets.

Resello’s managing director said the company had initially sought a third-party platform-as-a-service provider, rather than actively pursuing a sale. CRN reported that Resello evaluated prospective providers against a 172-point checklist before selecting Pax8. The coverage does not detail the checklist or independently measure the resulting business benefits.

Resello expected access to Pax8’s resources and platform to make it easier to serve the Azure market and support partners. Those were management’s expectations at the time of the announcement, not independently verified post-acquisition results.

What the acquisition could mean for channel partners

For Resello partners, the announced plan was to onboard new partners to Pax8’s platform and transition existing partners over the following months. Resello said the process would be gradual rather than rushed. That announcement establishes an intended transition, but the cited reporting does not confirm its completion or establish whether contracts, pricing, billing arrangements or workflows changed.

Pax8 also framed the expanded reach as a potential benefit for U.S. MSPs serving customers with offices or satellite operations in Europe. A distributor with local relationships and support could help a reseller coordinate cloud services across markets. That was a proposed channel benefit, not a measured outcome for MSPs or their customers.

Partners evaluating the practical impact would need country- and contract-specific answers on:

  • Whether partner agreements, billing entities, tax treatment, currencies, credit terms or incentives changed.
  • Which services were available in each country and whether local licensing or commercial requirements applied.
  • Whether APIs, PSA integrations, provisioning processes, tenant administration, support contacts or escalation paths changed.
  • How historical billing and customer data were handled, and whether partners needed to take action during migration.

The cited announcement coverage does not answer those operational questions. It also does not establish that all existing Resello services remained available throughout the transition.

How Resello fit Pax8’s 2021 acquisitions

CRN described Resello as Pax8’s third acquisition of 2021, after Wirehive in January and Sea-Level Operations in May. Contemporaneous coverage associated Wirehive with U.K.-focused consultancy capabilities and Sea-Level Operations with partner coaching and education, while Resello brought European cloud distribution and platform reach. The sequence suggests a broader expansion effort, but the acquisitions had distinct stated roles; the reporting does not show that they shared identical objectives.

What remains undisclosed or unverified

  • Transaction economics: The cited reports disclose no purchase price or other financial terms.
  • Integration results: They do not establish whether the planned partner migration was completed or quantify any change in partner count, Azure sales, customer reach or revenue.
  • Technical integration: They do not explain how billing, provisioning, APIs, PSA connectors or tenant-management systems were combined.
  • Country-level effects: Reporting of close to 40 countries does not identify the specific markets, restrictions or capabilities involved.
  • Current status: The 2021 coverage does not verify Resello’s brand, operating model, platform or regional structure in 2026.

For current partner eligibility, service availability and contractual terms, businesses should consult the relevant provider directly rather than infer today’s arrangements from the 2021 announcement.
