Office Home & Business 2024 is a retail one-time-purchase suite for one PC or Mac. Office Professional Plus 2019 MOLP refers to an older Windows commercial volume-licensing product, not a normal consumer edition; Office 2019 support ended on October 14, 2025. For a new personal or small-business purchase, an unverified low-cost ProPlus 2019 key is a poor substitute for a current, documented license.
Quick comparison
| What matters | Office Home & Business 2024 | Office Professional Plus 2019 MOLP |
|---|---|---|
| Product and channel | Retail one-time-purchase suite. | Professional Plus 2019 is a commercial volume-licensing edition. “MOLP” is reseller shorthand for a claimed licensing route, not a separate Office edition. |
| Typical buyer | Individual, freelancer, or small business needing apps on one computer. | Organization licensing and deploying Office under applicable volume-license rights. |
| Apps | Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. | The broader Windows desktop suite commonly includes Access and Publisher as well as the core apps; confirm the exact SKU and deployment configuration. |
| Platform and device rights | Microsoft’s current US listing specifies one PC or Mac; check the specific product and system requirements. | Windows commercial deployment, generally device-based; exact rights depend on the agreement and license assignment. |
| Activation | Purchase and installation are associated with a Microsoft account or product key, as applicable. | Volume activation may use MAK, KMS, or Active Directory-based activation, depending on the organization’s setup. |
| Cloud services | Does not by itself include Microsoft 365 services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, or OneDrive storage. | Does not provide those services merely by owning the desktop suite. |
| Support status | Office 2024 is the current Home & Business generation described in Microsoft’s retail listing. | Office 2019 support ended October 14, 2025; it no longer receives normal security updates, bug fixes, or technical support. |
Microsoft’s Office Home & Business 2024 listing describes a one-time purchase for one PC or Mac and lists Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. Commercial Office licensing and product context are set out in Microsoft’s Office 2019 licensing guide and volume-licensing reference guide.
What “MOLP” means—and why the label is not proof
The edition name is Office Professional Plus 2019. “MOLP” is commonly used in marketplace listings to describe a Microsoft volume-licensing route or agreement; by itself, it does not identify the precise agreement, license type, or rights being transferred. The buyer needs to know what entitlement the seller is actually conveying.
A key that activates is not, by itself, proof that the buyer has a valid license. Microsoft’s activation system can accept a key without establishing that a reseller had the right to transfer the underlying license to that buyer. Do not assume every resale is invalid, either: establish the specific license’s assignment and transferability from reliable documentation.
#1 Best Overall
- [Ideal for One Person] — With a one-time purchase of Microsoft Office Home & Business 2024, you can create, organize, and get things done.
- [Classic Office Apps] — Includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote.
- [Desktop Only & Customer Support] — To install and use on one PC or Mac, on desktop only. Microsoft 365 has your back with readily available technical support through chat or phone.
Before considering a listing, ask the seller for:
- The exact product SKU and the Microsoft licensing program or agreement involved.
- Whether the license is perpetual or subscription-based and whether it is assigned per device or per user.
- Documented proof of entitlement and purchase, plus evidence that the license is assigned or transferable to your organization.
- The activation method and an explanation of who controls the relevant account, agreement, or activation infrastructure.
- Written confirmation of support and a clear disclosure that Office 2019 is out of support.
For commercial licensing context, see Microsoft’s Rental Rights and licensing information; the applicable agreement and product terms, not a marketplace label, determine the buyer’s rights.
Which apps and services do you get?
Home & Business 2024
Microsoft lists Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. Access and Publisher are not listed as included apps. The suite supplies desktop productivity applications; Outlook is an email client, not an email-hosting plan.
Professional Plus 2019
Professional Plus is the broader Windows desktop suite and commonly includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access, and Publisher. Because the installed app set can depend on the exact SKU and deployment configuration, verify the manifest rather than relying on a listing’s generic “ProPlus” description. Access and Publisher are Windows applications; this is not a Mac substitute for the full Windows suite.
Neither perpetual suite is a cloud-services bundle
A one-time Office license does not automatically include Exchange Online mailboxes, SharePoint Online, OneDrive storage, or a Microsoft 365 subscription. Compatibility with Teams or other Microsoft services should not be confused with entitlement to those services. Microsoft explains that one-time-purchase Office suites do not include those cloud services or ongoing feature updates in its Office suites overview.

Licensing, devices, and activation are different questions
Home & Business: straightforward retail purchase
The Office Home & Business 2024 US retail listing specifies one PC or Mac. That device limit should not be generalized to every older Home & Business edition: check the license terms for the particular 2019, 2021, or 2024 product being purchased. The consumer route is designed around the purchaser’s Microsoft account and ordinary installation, rather than an organization’s volume-activation infrastructure.
Professional Plus: organization-managed volume licensing
Professional Plus 2019 volume licensing is generally a commercial, device-based deployment. The actual rights—including assignment and any reassignment or transfer—depend on the governing program and agreement. A lone key sold outside the original organization does not establish those rights.
Volume activation commonly uses one of these approaches:
- MAK: A Multiple Activation Key activates installations against Microsoft activation services, online or by telephone. Activations draw on the quantity permitted under the applicable agreement. See Microsoft’s MAK activation instructions.
- KMS: A Key Management Service host in the organization’s environment activates volume-licensed installations. It is an organizational activation model, not the normal setup for a personal one-computer purchase. See Microsoft’s KMS activation instructions and volume activation overview.
A consumer listing that offers a KMS “key” as a standalone personal license deserves particular scrutiny: KMS is intended to work with an organization’s activation infrastructure.

Support and security: Office 2019 is already out of support
Office 2019 support ended on October 14, 2025. In 2026, Professional Plus 2019 should be treated as an obsolete deployment: it no longer receives normal security updates, bug fixes, or Microsoft technical support. A perpetual license means the licensed version may remain usable under its terms; it does not mean the product is supported indefinitely or that future major versions are included. Microsoft’s commercial Office suites guidance describes the commercial suite lifecycle and current options.
Do not treat Office 2019’s former system requirements as current compatibility guidance. Check the supported operating-system requirements for the product you plan to deploy. For organizations that need fixed-version commercial Office, Microsoft identifies Office LTSC as the current perpetual commercial family; see the Office LTSC 2024 overview.

One person, one PC or Mac
Choose a current retail product such as Home & Business 2024 if its listed apps, device limit, and terms fit. Microsoft’s US Store listed it at $249.99 when this article’s source information was checked; that is a US price observation, not a guaranteed future or regional price. Check the product page for current availability, price, and system requirements.
Several devices, storage, or current features
Consider a Microsoft 365 plan when device flexibility, cloud storage, or ongoing feature updates matter. Microsoft describes Microsoft 365 as the route to current, feature-rich desktop apps and cloud services. Plan names, prices, and included services can change; compare the current Microsoft 365 plans rather than relying on an old quoted price.

Small business that needs hosted email and collaboration
Look at a business subscription such as Microsoft 365 Business Standard when Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, Teams, and business administration are needed. If the business wants desktop apps and OneDrive but not the full service bundle, compare Microsoft 365 Apps for business on the same current plan page.
Organization that needs a fixed-version deployment
Evaluate Office LTSC Professional Plus 2024 through an authorized licensing partner, or Microsoft 365 Apps if ongoing feature servicing is preferred. LTSC is for eligible organizations with a concrete need for a controlled fixed version, not a simple consumer checkout. Microsoft’s LTSC 2024 overview explains the current product family.
Mac user or user who needs Access
Home & Business has Mac availability depending on the specific product and requirements. Professional Plus 2019 should not be bought by a Mac user expecting the full Windows app set, including Access and Publisher. Confirm the precise platform and apps before purchasing.
If you already have Professional Plus 2019
First establish that the organization has valid documentation for the license and that its assignment matches the current deployment. Then plan a supported replacement based on whether the organization needs a fixed-version commercial suite or subscription servicing. Microsoft documents volume-license installation through the Office CDN and Office Deployment Tool in its volume-license product download guidance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsWhen replacing an existing Office installation, check architecture and installation type before deploying the new suite. Retail and volume editions, 32-bit and 64-bit installs, and remnants of older MSI or Click-to-Run installations can cause activation or compatibility trouble. A clean removal before installation is often simpler; use Microsoft’s official uninstall and support tools if normal removal fails. Mixed installations are not necessarily impossible, but need compatibility checking and rarely justify the troubleshooting burden.
