The company said the round brought its total funding to $75 million and that it would use the money for research and development and go-to-market execution. Oasis sells security tools for non-human identities: the machine accounts and credentials that let software, services and automated systems access other systems.
What Oasis Security raised, and who invested
The May 1, 2024 financing was a $35 million Series A extension, according to the company’s announcement carried by Newswire. Accel, Cyberstarts and Sequoia Capital co-led the extension. Oasis said the new capital doubled its Series A valuation, but did not disclose a valuation figure in that announcement. It also said its cumulative funding had reached $75 million.
The extension was separate from the earlier $35 million Series A. On January 31, 2024, TechCrunch reported that Oasis had emerged from stealth with two announced rounds: a $5 million seed and that $35 million Series A. TechCrunch named Sequoia—including Doug Leone and Bogomil Balkansky—Accel, Cyberstarts, Maple Capital, Guy Podjarny and Michael Fey among the participants. It also identified Chipotle, JLL and Mercury Financial as early users.
| Financing event | Amount | What the announcement established |
|---|---|---|
| Seed round | $5 million | Reported by TechCrunch when Oasis emerged from stealth in January 2024. |
| Series A | $35 million | Reported by TechCrunch in January 2024; distinct from the later extension. |
| Series A extension | $35 million | Announced May 1, 2024; co-led by Accel, Cyberstarts and Sequoia Capital. |
| Total funding after the extension | $75 million | Oasis’s cumulative total as stated in the May 2024 announcement. |
The figures describe announced financing, not revenue, profit, or a public-market valuation. The company said it planned to direct the extension toward R&D and sales and market expansion.

What non-human identities are
A non-human identity (NHI) is an identity or credential used by software rather than a person signing in. Examples include service accounts, service principals, cloud IAM roles, secrets, API tokens and cryptographic keys. Applications, cloud workloads, automation pipelines and AI agents use them to authenticate and access data or services.
These credentials are necessary for software to work, but they can be difficult to govern at scale. A team may need to establish which identities exist, who owns them, which workloads use them, what resources they can reach and whether their privileges remain appropriate. A forgotten credential, excessive permissions or an unplanned rotation can create risk; revoking or changing a credential without understanding its dependencies can also interrupt production.

Oasis’s 2024 product article said NHIs outnumber humans by a factor of 10–50 to one. That is a company-published estimate, not an independently verified industry-wide measurement.
How Oasis says its platform manages machine credentials
Oasis describes its approach as continuous discovery and governance across cloud and hybrid environments. SecurityWeek reported that the platform connects without agents and observes NHI use, collecting information such as owners, consumers, privileges, accessed resources and risk posture. The company says it uses that context to assess exposure, assign severity and recommend remediation.

Find identities and map their use
Discovery is intended to give security teams an inventory of NHIs across environments rather than a list limited to one vault or cloud service. Mapping owners, consumers and resources helps distinguish an active production identity from one that is abandoned or whose purpose is unclear.
Assess risk and govern access
Oasis says its platform can identify risk, enforce policy and help teams right-size access. In practice, the value of an inventory depends on whether teams can connect findings to an accountable owner and decide what access the workload actually needs. The platform’s risk scoring and recommendations are vendor-described capabilities, not independent proof that a specific deployment prevents breaches.
Rank #4
Remediate credentials and permissions
The company describes actions including credential rotation, revoking stale identities and provisioning credentials under policy. Automated remediation can reduce manual work, but teams need to understand the identity’s consumers and dependencies before changing or disabling it; otherwise, a security fix can break a service. Oasis’s materials describe recommendations and automation, but do not establish that every remediation is automatic or appropriate without customer controls.
How Oasis fits alongside identity and secrets tools
NHI management overlaps with identity governance, cloud security and secrets management, but the products are not necessarily interchangeable. A secrets manager can store and issue credentials; a broader NHI-management layer aims to discover identities across systems, link them to owners and workloads, assess how they are used, and coordinate policy and remediation. Buyers evaluating tools should check scope rather than assume that a product labeled “identity security” covers every credential type or environment.
Best Value
- It can be a gift option
- Comes with secure packaging
- Helpful in various ways
- Discovery: Which cloud, SaaS, PaaS, CI/CD and on-premises environments can it inventory?
- Ownership and context: Can it relate identities to owners, consumers, accessed resources and business purpose?
- Risk and detection: Does it surface over-privilege or anomalous use and help teams prioritize investigation?
- Governance and remediation: Can it enforce policy, support least privilege, rotate or revoke credentials, and document controls?
- Provisioning: Can it create identities with an owner and appropriate policy from the outset, rather than only finding them after deployment?
- AI-agent coverage: Does it govern agent identities and their access, as well as conventional machine credentials?
Oasis’s current platform description claims mapping for agents, identities and permissions; automated agent-identity provisioning; policy enforcement; and credential rotation across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, identity providers, SaaS and AI services. These are the vendor’s stated capabilities. Organizations should validate supported integrations, deployment scope and controls against their own environment.

The extension was presented as funding for R&D and go-to-market execution. Oasis’s later announcements show the company broadening its stated focus beyond discovery and governance of existing credentials.
NHI provisioning
On April 28, 2025, Oasis announced NHI Provisioning, describing it as a way to automate identity creation, governance and security from inception. The company said it supports AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, on-premises environments and vaults including HashiCorp, Azure Key Vault and CyberArk. This is a vendor announcement about product scope, not an independent evaluation of implementation or results.
Threat detection, AI-agent access and training
Oasis has also described expansion into NHI threat detection and agentic access management, extending its focus to autonomous agents as well as traditional workload credentials. On September 17, 2025, it announced a vendor-agnostic Non-Human Identity Management Fundamentals Certification for security and identity leaders working across cloud, SaaS, CI/CD and AI ecosystems. Those developments place the 2024 financing in the context of a wider identity-security strategy; they do not change the amount or date of the 2024 round.
Why the problem matters to security teams
Machine identities are part of routine infrastructure, not an optional category of account. Their scale and connections can make ownership, access review and credential lifecycle management harder to handle with manual processes alone. Oasis co-founder and CEO Danny Brickman described the issue as an “unprecedented identity security crisis” with NHIs at its center. That is the CEO’s characterization; the concrete operational questions are whether an organization can inventory its identities, identify their owners and dependencies, limit access, and safely remove or rotate credentials when needed.
