Treat the checkout total and renewal notice—not the old headline—as the final price.
The original $130 NordVPN deal
Engadget published the deal on February 18, 2026, describing NordVPN Complete as two years for $130 with a 70% discount. The promotion was limited-time and had no stated end date. That article remains evidence that the offer was real, but it does not establish that $130 is still available. Read the original Engadget report.
NordVPN Complete’s current US offer
NordVPN’s current US pricing display has changed the price, discount label and service period:

These figures are the observed US introductory prices before any applicable sales tax. NordVPN labels Complete as 75% saved on this page. Its savings calculation compares the introductory price—including bonus months—with the applicable annual renewal price, so the percentage is not necessarily a comparison with a standard two-year retail price. “Two years” currently means 27 months
The current display says two years, but includes three extra months. That is 27 months of access, not 24. At $121.23, the arithmetic is approximately $4.49 per service month, or about $60.62 for each paid year before tax. The extra months extend service; they are not a cash rebate.
The charge is upfront
The $4.49 figure is an effective monthly equivalent. NordVPN charges long-term plans in full at purchase, so the initial charge is $121.23 (plus any tax), not $4.49 each month. NordVPN explains its upfront billing.

NordVPN has changed tier names and bundle wording over time, so confirm the feature list on the checkout screen. Bundling does not mean each component matches the depth of a dedicated password manager, cloud-storage provider or identity-monitoring service.
Is Complete worth $27 more than Basic?
At the displayed introductory prices, Complete costs $27 more upfront than Basic ($121.23 versus $94.23), a difference of $1 per effective service month. Complete makes sense when you will use its password manager, monitoring, scam-call protection, browsing protection or 1 TB storage. Basic is usually the better value when your requirement is VPN access and you already have preferred password-management and storage products.

Renewal is the biggest cost risk
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn that feature off. The current Complete page shows renewal at $219.48 per year, before any applicable tax; the renewal amount can change before the billing date. NordVPN says it emails customers before charging subscriptions longer than one month. Do not assume the introductory rate continues.
Turn off auto-renewal after purchase
- Sign in to your Nord Account.
- Open Billing.
- Select Cancel next to auto-renewal.
- Confirm Cancel auto-renewal.
- Check that renewal is switched off and keep the confirmation email.
Cancellation stops the next renewal; it does not end your already-paid access. Apple, Google Play, Amazon and retailer purchases generally must be cancelled through the platform that billed you. See NordVPN’s cancellation steps.

Refund rules
NordVPN advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee for eligible new subscriptions. Direct purchases should be handled through NordVPN support. Apple App Store, Amazon Appstore, Google Play and retailer purchases follow the relevant platform or retailer’s process; NordVPN cannot uniformly issue those refunds. The guarantee generally applies to the initial purchase, not a renewal, and exceptions can apply after 30 days, on recurring monthly plans or after multiple prior refunds. Read the refund policy.

- Buy it if you want a VPN plus the bundled password manager, monitoring, protection tools and cloud storage, expect to use it for at least two years, and can pay upfront.
- Choose Basic if VPN access is the main goal or you already pay for equivalent services.
- Consider Prime only if you specifically need its additional identity-protection and insurance-related features and are eligible in the US. NordVPN says Coveron is a third-party tool; identity-theft and cyber-extortion insurance is unavailable to New York residents, and NordVPN is not the licensed insurance producer.
- Skip a long-term plan if you need service for only a month or two, cannot comfortably prepay, will not monitor renewal, or must buy through a particular employer, school, app store or reseller.
If the advertised price does not appear
Prices and features can vary by country, currency, taxes, device, account status and checkout route. Existing subscribers may see upgrade or extension offers rather than new-customer pricing. A missing $121.23 offer can also mean the promotion changed, the page selected another term, or a bonus expired. Before paying, verify the final total, number of months, renewal amount, tax, payment channel and included features.

Alternatives
For VPN-only shopping, compare NordVPN Basic with live offers from Surfshark and Proton VPN; verify each provider’s current introductory and renewal terms at checkout. If you already trust a dedicated password manager, buying a VPN separately may provide better specialist functionality than paying for an unused bundle. NordPass is available separately at nordpass.com; prices in older deal coverage should be treated as historical.
What to check before clicking pay
- Confirm that the plan says Complete and includes 27 months if that is the advertised promotion.
- Confirm the full upfront total, including tax, rather than relying on the monthly equivalent.
- Read the renewal line: the observed Complete renewal is $219.48 per year.
- Check your country, payment method and eligibility for every bundled feature.
- Save the receipt, refund terms and auto-renewal status.
The Bottom Line
The old 70%-off, $130 Complete promotion was real but is not the current benchmark. The live US offer observed on August 18, 2026 is $121.23 upfront for 27 months, with renewal at $219.48 annually. Choose Complete only if you will use its bundled tools; otherwise, Basic is the cheaper NordVPN option.
