Yes. Newark is part of Avnet and has been since Avnet acquired its parent company, Premier Farnell, in 2016. Newark remains the brand for the Americas; the same broader organization uses Farnell in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Japan, and element14 in Asia Pacific.
What does “Newark, an Avnet company” mean?
It describes Newark’s place within Avnet’s existing ownership structure, not a newly announced acquisition. Newark says its parent company, Premier Farnell, was acquired by Avnet in 2016. Its current positioning presents Newark and Avnet as a connected offer for customers and suppliers, spanning product development through manufacturing and maintenance, repair and operations (MRO). Newark’s About Us page and its An Avnet Company page describe the relationship.
What happened to Newark element14?
The names serve different regions within the same broader organization; they are not evidence that Newark disappeared or was replaced everywhere by element14. Newark uses the following regional brand map, according to its About Us page:

Is Newark still the same distributor?
Newark continues to describe itself as a distributor serving electronic and industrial system design, maintenance and repair. Its authorized-distributor policy characterizes its business as a high-service provider of technology products, services and solutions for electronic system design, maintenance and repair. The policy is available in Newark’s Authorized Distributors Policy Statement.
Newark says customers retain customer service, same-day shipping, free technical support and access to more than 900,000 products on its 2026 webpage. How do Newark and Avnet fit across a product’s lifecycle?
The relationship is framed as complementary capabilities rather than a simple change of name. Newark contributes proof-of-concept and design strengths, while Avnet brings broadline distribution and production-scale expertise. Together, the companies describe support across the path from prototype and production to supply-chain delivery and end-of-life stages. See Newark’s About Avnet page.
For a customer, the practical question is which stage and service are needed: design assistance and prototype components, volume purchasing, ongoing supply-chain support, or parts for maintenance and repair. The brand relationship alone does not establish that every product or service is available in every region.

Who leads Newark?
Avnet announced on June 25, 2024, that Rebeca Obregon would become Newark president effective July 1, 2024. The announcement describes Newark as a high-service electronics-components distributor supported by an international supply chain. See the June 25, 2024 announcement.
